"My boyfriend and I went for the first time to have an intimate birthday dinner, it was great! I read a lot of good reviews on it and hoped it would meet the standards, it absolutely did! The people are great and the food is amazing. If a good meal makes your day then Le Sirene will make your week =]"

"My wife and I said as soon as we walked in, "This smells like Paris." We had an amazing meal, fresh ingredients, wonderful flavors, rich and hearty dishes. It was a fantastic experience and we'd definitely go back!"

"The food was delicious. We shared the ribeye and the filet and both were exquisite. The vegetables were excellent as well. Finally, we shared Banana Brûlée for desert and it was divine. We loved that it is BYOB as we brought a half bottle of Champagne to split between our per-dinner and dessert and then a nice red for our dinner."

"Excellent food preparations, fine service. We had onion soup, mussels, salad, pork tenderloin, beef tournedos and a delicious dessert. We brought our own wine. Highly recommended."

"While their prix fixe value menu is no longer, they have a wonderful selection of appetizers, mussels, steaks and other traditional french bistro fare. Their unlimited vegetable sides are served on dainty plates but the servers were attentive and happy to refill the plates. The BYOB policy is also a great value and hard to find in NY."

"Great French food. The sauces were beautifully done. The squid appetizer was the highlight - perfectly cooked and surprisingly inventive. The tarte rating was a bit of a disappointment."

"I went to La Sirene two years ago, and their food is what made me travel to France the following year. Just two days ago I returned to La Sirene for my birthday, and I was not disapointed. Although the lamb was prepared differently this time then last, it did not lose that great flavor. The escargos were delicious and so was the roasted pear. The pefiteroles are incredible to say the least. Overall, this was an amazing restaurant to go to for my birthday and I have recommended it to many others. Relaxing atmosphere, plus a good looking chef and waiter that were actually French. What more could you ask forr?"

"I take a good friend (who is also a foodie) out to dinner about twice a month in NYC. Our experience at La Sirene was both amazing and exceptional.
We both had their signature dish, a Filet Mignon topped with Foie Gras and a delicious and not overpowering sauce, that was absolutely fantastic. The steak was tender enough to cut with a butter knive and the combined taste was unlike anything I've ever had.
Even the free (all you can eat vegetables) were amazing. How do they make pureed carrots so delicious. Make sure you save room for desert, they were varied and terrific.
Cash only and you can bring your own wine. We will definitely be coming back!"

"very happy. The goat cheese tart was gorgeous - just the right size to share between 2/3 people as one of a couple of starters. Foie gras topped filet mignon - rich sauce, sublime. Very recommendable."

"Went for dinner on Sat March 30th with a friend who found it online and i returned the next evening(Sun) with a date and i enjoyed it both times. La Sirene is a wonderful little place for romatic dinners and special occasions with someone special in your life, and it's BYOB"

"Our dinner group had entrees ranging from steak to pork to fish and each dish was outstanding, as was the side tray of vegetables. Easily the best food I've experienced in NY in quite a while. It had the feeling of a small restaurant in the French countryside, with a relaxed ambiance, coupled with outstanding food. The no corkage fee BYOB policy worked very well, and allowed for a better wine than would be otherwise affordable for a casual dinner. We had a perfect table near the front of the restaurant, but it appeared that other tables might be a bit too close to the kitchen."

"What a wonderful evening! We battled the snowstorm on Monday from the UWS to have an amazing dinner at La Sirene accompanied by 2 friends & 2 of our bottles from our collection. We started with the goat tartelette, classic mussels, & the octopus. All were delicious, but the tartelette was the absolute best. Great recommendation by our lovely waiter. For entrees, we shared the lamb, kassulet & the baked seafood which we all loved. They even gave us all you can eat veggies. We will definitely come back with more of our friends who are wine lovers. I love byob restaurants, and I wish I would've known about this place sooner. Thanks to our waitress also for a lovely evening."

"La Sirene is my favorite restaurant in the city. The food is fantastic and service is always friendly and helpful but not overwhelming (who likes a waiter/waitress constantly hovering at the table? Not me). No corkage fee for BYOB which is a plus. The tournedos and the cassoulet are the best items on the menu. The octopus appetizer and goat cheese tart are also outstanding. Go here hungry and you won't be disappointed. A little bit out of the way, but a wonderful place for a "date night"."

"With its BYOB policy, this place is an affordable, rare find in the Soho/Tribeca area. Cozy atmosphere with good service too. We had the moules mariniere (broth was excellent, mussels so-so). Our friends had the hanger steak with herbs, which was absolutely delicious, perfectly cooked. The all you can eat sides of veggies were delicious too. Highly recommend."

"Mussels were good, had both wine and with curry preparations. The curry was too soupy
The veggies were the best thing about the entrees. The steak came in a too thick and nasty looking sauce. The pork loin was ok, sauce was a bit heavy and nothing special. Fish was the best entree. Dessert we tried profiterols, they were ok; nothing special.
The best things in our meal were the mussels and the entree vegetables.
The service and espirit de corp is delightful. Food is not very good. Don't know how this restaurant is so highly reviewed by so many."

"This was probably our 5th or 6th visit to La Sirene and we still have not been disappointed. We started with the mussels in a Dijon sauce and they were excellent. My wife had the hangar steak, which was cooked perfectly and was very tasty. I tried the cassoulet and it was delicious. We then had puff pastry with whipped cream for dessert, along with very good coffee. My only complaint (and it's a small one) is that the menu has not really changed since we first discovered this place a few years ago. While there are specials, the mainstays have been there all along. But I would wholeheartedly recommend La Sirene to anyone who enjoys great food. Oh yeah, BYOB is great. We will be back."

"Although I had read alot of hype about this restaurant on Foodie Blogs I came away feeling less then impressed with the whole dining experience when attending the restaurant for a valentine's day meal. Don' t get me wrong, the food was amazing and the chefs accommodating was undeniably great, but somehow the overall experience of being crammed into a small space and hurried along to vacate our seats took away from my positive experience about the dining experience with my loved ones."

"I went there with my wife to celebrate the first month birthday of our newborn daughter. We made a reservation at 8 and arrived 30 mins early, we got our seat right away, with space for the baby's carriage. We ordered the curry mussel, filet mignon, a casserole with bacon, duck and sausage. EVERYTHING was delicious. By the end of the night, we didn't have any room left for the dessert, but we will definitely be back to find out how good they are."

"We returned to La Sirene because we had had such a positive experience our first time and we wanted to return for my birthday with my sister-in-law and brother-in-law. I felt so bad because after we had talked up this restaurant for weeks, my brother-in-law had a really bad experience. He got the wrong appetizer and when he ordered the filet mignon, instead of getting one nice piece, he got three end pieces arranged on a plate. I was so embarrassed."

"The service is far and away among the best in New York City. The food can be hit-or-miss, but mostly very successful hits in my opinion. There were definitely certain plates where I expected to be wow'ed but did not get wow'ed, but for the most part my taste buds went on a great ride. At this price range, and with the cute implementation of BYOB, I would recommend it to anybody who lives in Manhattan."

"Great food every time we've gone here. Although crowded, a testament to the great food, you can sit face to face and feel alone, have a conversation. The staff is quite attentive and will top off your wine as needed, since this is wine you bring yourself it's all service and not to pad the bill. Make a reservation ahead of time, cause key times fill up quickly."

"If you like escargot, I recommend La Sirene's!! The service was very good (not stuffy as I expected). The lighting was a bit dim & I was taken aback that there was a window to the kitchen right behind our table, but the light from the kitchen helped us see our food better. The food was rich and delicious. I highly recommend this place for a date. Very romantic, very cosy."

"The food was yummy, although a cardiologist's nightmare. Service was attentive. Table was very tiny for the four of us, and the bench against the window was quite uncomfortable for sitting, but I'd definitely return for the food and friendly vibe. Lovely find for an intimate dinner."

"We loved the food and service, but our clothes stunk afterwards because of the open kitchen. I know they don't have room, but they should close off the kitchen - or get better ventilation for the kitchen. It was extremely smoky and we smelled like food until our jackets were dry cleaned."

"Restaurant area is nice and waiters are friendly. However, open kitchen looks absolutely totally gross, food on the floor and along side the bins, including kitchen staff eating left overs from plates, grossest thing we've seen in a while.."

"The food is very good, and the atmosphere fine on a slow Sunday night. But the place is a bit cramped and I can imagine it would be quite loud if it were crowded. I was somewhat disappointed in the cassoulet, one of the signature dishes, primarily because it didn't correspond to my memories of the cassoulet I had in Toulouse. This cassoulet, despite its description of being cooked in duck fat, seemed dry and was over-baked. However, the pear salad and goat tart that we tried as appetizers were really good and my friend had the filet mignon with foie gras which was excellent also. So overall it was a good experience."
