For a decade owner and chef Gari Sugio has run a sushi restaurant that is innovative in the way it serves sushi with both cold and warm ingredients, offering more than 130 varieties. Sushi of Gari 46 focuses primarily on serving Gari’s “Signature Omakase” Sushi dinner which shows off his expertise with marinated and spiced raw and slightly cooked ingredients, in addition to a menu of traditional Japanese dishes. The sake selection, by Gari Sugio, is one of the best in town along with a limited wine selection of fine wines.

"We had high expectations and the appetizers were all that we hoped. But the Sashimi Special at $55 was utterly ordinary. We had to ask for ginger, and the sashimi itself was nothing more than one would get at one's neighborhood sushi place. Disappointing. Cheerful friendly service, but overall I can't imagine going back."

"Went here on a Saturday evening for dinner. The place wasn't filled to capacity at the time, so there was enough elbow room. The sushi was decent, nothing spectacular...a bit on the pricey side unfortunately even with a $20 dining check from opentable. The service was good though, no complaints there."

"This was the best sushi we've ever had. They had a unique selection which was a nice surprise from the standard choices. We were in a bit of a rush to get to a show. Before we could even tell the hostess, she asked us! They were able to get us our food and ship us off to the show in plenty of time. We will definitely be going back here."

"I eat sushi 4 times a week. I picked this place based on the reviews. There were so many rules to what we were allowed to eat at the sushi bar. It had to be raw. So my wife couldn't get a lobster or king crab roll because it was cooked. What a joke. i got the chefs choice 98 dollars another joke it was worth 30 bucks. I spend about 40 dollars a day for lunch so its not a money thing. my wife got a roll with about a bowl of rice in the roll. another waste of a 25 dollar roll. so with the over priced sake it cost me 340 dollars. My wife didn't even eat. So we went next store and got a cheeseburger at Joe allens. So please does waste your time go to Hatsuhana it blows it away."

"I had reserved a table to celebrate my aunt's birthday. Sushi of Gari called and said there is a special dessert for special occasions and it also includes staff to sing the birthday song. It costs $25 per person. When the dessert came out, all they had was a few pieces of fruits, a scoop of ice cream, a candle and a 1x1 inch pastry. This was for three people. This is not worth $75.00!! I've never seen a dessert that's worth $75 and it looks so plain! There was absolutely nothing special about this dessert. I can even cut some fruits and make it on my own."

"The sushi is absolutely delicious! And I love knowing that the people who work there are actually Japanese. The place is a little small though, so you're pretty close to your neighbors and the noise level goes up pretty fast. Sometimes it was hard to carry on conversation. Be ready to spend a good amount of money though; went there for lunch and spend almost $100 on just entrees and drinks. Definitely worth it for a special occasion!!"

"We ordered the omakase (about 100 pp), and it was amazing. Every piece deserved its own standing ovation. The entire experience was delightful. The sake list was also impressive. We ordered the limited regional sake (please refer to wine list) which paired perfectly with sushi. Thank you!"

"This is not a bad restaurant – only disappointing in light of what I expect when I pay $60/person for fish. I was hoping for a good traditionalist sushi restaurant. Instead, I got a hipster modernist experience. Don't get me wrong; their preparations are tasty, fresh ideas. But if you want sushi the way it's meant to be – high quality fish and rice – go elsewhere.
The restaurant is up-front about this, but it's not easy to find out about if you haven't looked them up ahead of time. Caveat emptor."

"The Omakase tasting is a must! You really can't go wrong with it. If I had a money tree, I'd be eating Omakase all the time! I also recommend the appetizer with the tuna and avocado. Everything was superb!"
