BONDST, located in NoHo, is a trendy downtown restaurant with a warm minimalist interior design. The cuisine is new Japanese with European and Asian influences. BONDST is Citysearch's 2007 and 2008 audience award winner for Best Sushi in NYC, as well as the 2008 audience award winner for Best Martini in NYC.
"We haven't been here EVER as life long New Yorkers and enjoyed it tremendously. The sushi and sashimi were fresh and put together well. The entree portions were big relative to most Japanese restaurants and Nobu-knockoffs. We didn't have room for dessert after our squid pasta, Chilean sea bass, two rolls, big eye tuna tartar and Szechuan yellowtail. Awesome! Yes should have come earlier."

"Restaurant is pretty compact and they try to squeeze in as many table as possible; consequently the tables are packed in so close together that it's practically impossible to shut out the conversation of the diners next to you.
With regard to the food, this is very ordinary sushi, dressed up to look like something special with different sauces and presentations thrown in to obscure the fact that what you are eating is really nothing special. I hold Sushi Azabu as the benchmark, and this falls way short, but with similar prices."

"The service was terrible! The restaurant was 75% empty, and noone was waiting to be seated, yet our server bugged us every 5 minutes about ordering food. We were practically rushed out of the restaurant. $200 for mediocre sushi and to be rushed. I've been here before but never again. What a waste!"

"They've still got it. We were pleasantly surprised that time and overexposure had not affected the quality of the food, which was really a treat. The tuna tart is not to be missed! We did the 6-course chefs tasting, which I don't usually like to do, but everything was delish. I would do 5 course next time. It was a lot of food!"

"Fantastic food and service was very attentive. The lighting was a bit lacking but overall the ambiance was very nice. Menu has a wide variety of items and not only sushi/sashimi which allowed for those in our party that don't really appreciate sushi to enjoy the restaurant as well. Would highly recommend this to others."

"Not only one some of the best sushi ever but also the best food, sake list, etc. Just wonderful from the very first bite of tuna tart to the Lychee tart to finish the meal."

"My friends and I decided to come here for sushi omakase. The food was excellent and we had a good time chatting with sushi chef. Surprisingly, Bondst provides a very good selection on fishes and the price is very very reasonable. At the end, the bill came down to be a lot less than expected.
The only complain I have was, the sushi was served on a tray at once, instead of a typical makase that chef will serve each piece separately."

"Although the food was great, the service was a little bit too hectic, the music too loud and the tables rather small(we were a party of two, but it had the feeling as sharing a table with our two neighbouring tables). In addition they lost our scarf and did not offer much help or compensation. However if you are looking for great food and a place to dine before going out, this place will be to your likings. But if you are looking for a private and romantic dinner i would advise to go somewhere else."

"Amazing dishes and all very unique. The drink selection was great and the drinks are definitely strong enough. The only thing that I'm going to be picky about is the noise level. I wish it would have been just a little bit less loud."

"Nice ambiance, more like a lounge. Service on the slow side and our waitress forgot our request for more tea but saving grace is the manager was paying attention and got us what we needed. Manager gets an A+, waitress B-.
Food was delicious though! Tuna tart, red snapper tacos, squid ink pasta were unique and delicious. Short ribs were a bit salty. Sushi was terrific as well."

"Fresh fish yes, but bond st sushi is awful. They have no idea how to cook rice. Sushi is two main ingredients- fish and rice. The rice is so bad that I was embarrassed for them. And the silly toppings like tomatoes (in the middle of winter) were unnecessary. Way overpriced for mediocre food. I would expect this from a casual local spot where the cost is much less. I'll never go again. There are much better places for great sushi."

"Thoroughly enjoyed our evening, food was excellent, though a little difficult to figure out how to order from the menu. Service was first class, always present but never over-bearing. Would definately go again and recommend to others."

"Try the tuna pizza with truffle oil. Try the fish tacos. Try the Chilean Sea Bass in a miso reduction. Try the sushi and their fabulous cocktails. Combine this with stylish service and beautiful decor and you have one of the best fusion restaurants in New York City.
I've been there a dozen times and I love it!!"

"BONDST may have the best sushi I have had outside Tokyo. The fish is fresh and soft, and basically melts in your mouth. Everything is beautifully presented as well. You cannot go wrong with the 6 BONDST Nigiri, the Sashimi Sextet, or the Seared Belly Quartet. We ordered two hot appetizers (scallops and clams), both of which were cooked in delicious broths. The desserts, most of which had Asian flair, were also excellent. This time, we sat in the downstairs lounge area, which seemed a little less noisy than the upstairs seating. Portions are a bit smaller than at other Japanese restaurants, so you may need to order extra appetizers, but the sushi makes it worthwhile! Will come back, without a doubt!"

"A group of three of us ordered 2 sushi rolls, 2 tempuras and 3 entrees, as well as 3 desserts and everything was delicious and well presented. The absolute standouts were the Tuna Crispy Rice and Broiled Chilean Sea Bass. For dessert, the Banana Milk Chocolate Dim Sum was one of the most creative I've seen. This has definitely become one of my new favorite restaurants."

"Am a regular, but service for drinks was super slow. My friends and I sat with empty drinks for 10-20 mins between rounds. A friend joked "I guess they don't want to make more money" we literally had to wave down a busboy to get our waiter.
Must have been an off night. Service is usually better."

"The highlights of our evening were the Big Eye Tuna Tarts and the Crunchy Spicy Tuna, although everything was delicious. The drink list was very good -- definitely try the lychee martini, and the wines by the glass were also very good selections. We will definitely return soon."
