"This is one of the quietest places to have dinner in the area. The service was good, not great. The bread and salad we had was outstanding, but the salmon was only good."

"This is a fine Sunday brunch, with many good selections: smoked fish, shrimp, crab, salads, cheeses, fruit, excellent pecan rolls and puff pastry cinnamon twists, etc. I go there often."

"We had a gathering of 4 friends who do not see each other often. We wanted delicious food and an opportunity to linger over our meal to talk. Juniper was perfect!"

"FANTASTIC! All around a great experience! From the 1,000 point Open Table points option, to the greeting at the host stand...not to mention the server was a gem and the food perfect!!!! the 'dietary' restriction options on the menu made it easy to be a vegetarian! We WILL go back!"

"Very nice food and the noise level is low enough to actually allow for a pleasant conversation. The wine list is strangely limited, though (only rather overpriced American wines). They do not offer regular bread with the food. One can order some kind of sweet honey bread."

"Sat in the courtyard on a beautiful evening surrounded by cherry trees in bloom. The food was excellent as well as the service. The prices were actually lower than I would expect from a hotel restaurant like this. A gem!"

"We arrived Saturday night and found that the dining room picture online is not as beautiful as the one in which we were seated. The waiter felt he had to read us the menu (always a nuisance) and was slow to take drink orders. The martinis were not very good and the food was uneven. Some of it was really fantastic like the bread and pasta special, but some was disappointing (the scallops were perfectly cooked but were served in a too-spicy sauce that was a little heavy). Dessert was great. This restaurant has potential but needs some discipline and tightening up. We may go back there to try it out, but given the better competition, it won't be soon."

"Juniper is one of my favorite restaurants when I really want to be able to talk during the meal. The setting is lovely, inside and in the garden, and it is quiet. The food is excellent--imaginative selections across many dietary preferences, high quality ingredients, and expertly prepared. Service is very attentive and helpful in making menu selections. Juniper is truly a gem!"

"Enjoyed Easter Sunday Brunch at Juniper with my family. The atmosphere and food were enjoyable, but was disappointed that the restaurant raised its price for brunch - from $48 to $75 - but offered no off the menu entrees for brunch (which is typical for this restaurant) and reduced the mimosa selection from 4 varieties to just 1. Since I paid more than 50% more, I expected more but received much less. I will never return to this spot during a holiday since the value is not there."

"This place is in the Fairmont Hotel which is not known to us just looking at the site on line, a tad disingenuous . So it’s very pricy but decent food and great service. But not a fun or happening place we were one of two tables all evening. We had a business dinner so the quiet was fine for us."

"We had lunch here and had a very enjoyable experience. The food is consistently good, but what makes the restaurant is the outstanding service A waiter we had last year stopped by our table to welcome us back! We just had a couple of sandwiches, but the entire menu is worth checking out. Our waiter informed us that dinner is generally a more formal occasion."

"This was the second time that we came to the restaurant. The food was just as delicious as the first time that we went. The service was outstanding. The children's menu is just as wonderful as the adult menu and the kitchen is very accommodating for children. The dining room is so peaceful which is so nice to have with children. I love that it overlooks the courtyard. I am not usually one to have fruit desserts but the fruit crumble dessert here is outstanding. I also enjoy the honey butter and walnut wheat bread appetizer. The best part overall is that they are a sustainable restaurant."

"I arranged a birthday celebration and the restaurant was wonderful. The chef even prepared a small mini pie as my guest was not a cake lover. The ambiance was lovely and the meal was divine. I will go back again."

"The food is just OK, but I don't need any superlatives to describe it. And when I dine at an expensive venue, I really want to be able to use at least one superlative. The restaurant could use a restyling - looks cold and sad, plus it does not have much character. It is definitely overpriced. With the same amount of money you can go across the street at Blue Duck Tavern, and enjoy a totally different experience."

"Kind of stuffy, quite empty (for a Friday night), and not the best value. A $30 piece of lamb should be wonderful - it was so-so. Nothing was impressive, unfortunately."

"From the moment I came the service was exceptional. I was 15minutes early but was lead to my table to wait . I was offered the menu, the wine list but never pestered to order until my daughter came. The menu was intrigiung with multiple options for vegans, vegetarians, gluten-free, macrobiotic, raw and others. Everything was local and well repared. I had the tagliatelli with wild mushrooms and parmesan, and never enjoyed that dish anywhere else better- prepared. We began with the house walnut bread and their honey. We thought we would come back just for that and tea. Overall I could not have asked for or anticipated a better experience. I certainly shall return."

"This wonderful restaurant is Washington's best kept secret. It has a delightful, quiet ambiance with soft jazz playing in the background. We each had a side salad to begin and the wonderful walnut bread with honey butter which definitely should be ordered. I followed that with the shrimp and grits- terrific- and my husband had the rockfish from the DASH menu. We split a side order of the butternut squash risotto- also delicious. We were too full to order dessert but the meal ended with a complimentary chocolate truffle for each or us. Perfect!"

"Ambiance is outstanding when not seated in general dining area with over excited children. Went for Sunday breakfast and really enjoyed a lovely treat. Our server was pleasant, efficient, and hard working. The Crab-cake Benedict was superb and the BLT omelet (altered to egg white for me) was wonderful. I skipped the bread and ordered the buckwheat pancakes with sliced green apples. Highly recommended. On a general note the main dining area is large and subject to higher noise volumes then we prefer."
