"What an incredible restaurant! Right down to the service, this spot far exceeds anything we expected. You'll have a hard time deciding which cocktail to order as they read like enticingly scientific elixers. We tried 3 and all were superb. There were just 2 of us and we decided to split a salad, an entree and a dessert. Do not miss the seared tuna as it is a signature dish with a sauce that you'll never taste the likes of again. The salad (bibb lettuce with bacon jam) was only ok, a bit too much going on. The dessert strawberry / raspberry charlotte is lovely, frozen and smooth. Our servers were friendly and very informed. They were excited about the menu as well as the drinks and they wanted us to ask them anything."

"My wife ordered the Crisp Wasabi Tuna and it is one of the best dishes I've ever tasted. I ordered the Filet of Beef and it was really good but to me the cheese sauce they put on it adds distraction to the taste of the meat. Next time ill just ask them to leave the sauce off because it is a melt in your mouth filet. Also, we had the pimiento cheese appetizer. I didn't know pimiento cheese could be THAT GOOD!! Excellent experience for us."

"Typically, I look forward to any occasion that brings me to Cypress. I joined my husband and his colleague for an impromptu dinner and I was surprised how easy it was to get in at the last minute. We enjoyed selecting our wine (a very good Malbec) off of an iPad, and started with a delicious cheese plate (highly recommend the Humboldt Fog). However, my entree was sub par as far as Cypress standards go. My special entree of a 4 oz filet w/ shrimp & spring veggies underwhelmed - the steak was tiny, thin and lacked in flavor, the "large" shrimp were in fact pretty small, and the butter sauce took on the color of asparagus & peas and turned a very off-putting brown-green color, turning me off to my entire dinner."

"Service was top notch. Food was very good, but not quite fabulous. We both had the pork chop with corn cake, and a light sauce. The sauce was delightful, the corn cake interesting and tasty. The pork chop was good. The only thing that kept my rating from being overall fabulous was that the pork chop could have been a bit more moist. I'm not capable of cooking a really moist and juicy pork chop, so I look for that in restaurants. The Cypress version wasn't quite there. Still, I'd recommend the restaurant. We probably should have gone for one of the Low County specials. I'll do that next time."

"Our waiter was fantastic!!! He knew the menu inside and out. Was very helpful all evening. My Fiancee and I both ordered steaks, her's had to be sent back because the chef did not cook the center at all, the waiter noticed it right away as he came to check on us. VERY OVERPRICED for what you get. We have no desire to dine here again. I think they are lucky because if it wern't for their location on East Bay, they would not get the business they need. Jut my opinion."

"Cypress seems to have found just the right balance in food, service and setting. The menu was creative without straining to be unique; the food preparation and presentation were flawless. The service was impeccable - we were gently tended to by a team of attentive employees, including the manager, but never felt they were hovering. Too many contemporary restaurants have harsh acoustics (euphemistically called "lively") - Cypress has just the right balance of liveliness without the noise. Although we didn't order wine, the 3-story wall of wine was impressive."

"Second trip to Cypress and I was not as impressed as my first visit. Dinner menu and wine list didn't work well together...infact, when I asked the waiter what wine would he recommend with the scallops, he replied, good question...but had no answer.
Very limited on seafood and fish dishes. The Oyster app. was the highlight of the meal...all went downhill from there."

"Overpriced for what you get. Wine we ordered first came long after our appetizers. Long waits between courses and for credit card process. My dessert, pistachio cake, was laughable- three one inch pieces of dry cake rolling around ona a large plate with a two table spoon scoop of ice cream.This for eight dollars. I would recommend many other places in Charleston, including sister rest. Magnolia, over this one."

"We had a tour of Cypress the day before on a chef's tour and knew we had to eat there. The chef had given a description of the special he was planning. Soft shell crab and veal was the special. It was incredible with roasted heirloom carrots and asparagus. The veal was shredded froma shank and pressed into a square a seared with a mustard coating. Very delicious. The place is beautiful and romantic. Modern but tied into the charm of Charleston. The service was excellent as well. I will be eating there again when I pass through town."

"The pea shoots salad with ham came without the pea shoots, but the water brought argula when I called this to his attention. He said they were out of peashoots. The crab cake was excellent, but I have had better relish or salsa with crabcakes. My husband's chicken dinner was rather ordinary."

"One of the best places to dine in Charleston, time and time again! The chateaubriand for 2 was wonderful, cooked perfectly to temp, tender and delicious. Enticing cocktails to start,warm bread with soft butter, a great selection of wines, a new twist on old favorite tuna tartare,and a sinful chocolate pie dessert all contribute to a fantastic dining experience. The waitstaff is friendly, yet professional and knowledgeable about what they do."

"Had reservations for 9 pm and were not seated until 9:30. The oyster/sashimi tuna app was good, as was fried Brie salad. I had tuna wrapped in phyllo dough and even though I like my tuna rare, it was cold as though it was cooked at all. The vegetables that accompanied it were tasty. My spouse had scallops with pork belly on a bed of whipped sweet potatoes and that was good. The atmosphere is modern but a bit uppity & our waiter was a little odd. Would not go back, especially with all the other great restaurants in Charleston."

"My sister, friend and I are major foodies and don't spare any expense when it comes to a good meal! Cypress was far and away worth every last penny! The food was SUPERB! From the appetizer to main course to dessert, we were in utter heaven! All the flavors melded so well together!"

"Cypress has a wonderful atmosphere...from the three story wall of wine to the glass railings and contemporary furniture, all juxtaposed against a classic Charleston building with brick walls.
Food was excellent. Our party of four had the steak Diane, the filet, the tuna, and a mixed plate of succotash, crab cakes, and the ricotta gnochi. All were excellent (though the gnochi was a bit bland), but the show stealer as far as we were concerned was the pimento cheese appetizer. Heaven!"

"Another great find in Charleston! The food is kind of low country meets Asian fusion, which was really good. Charleston is really living up to its rep as one of the best food destinations in the country. A good wine by the glass list made ordering a bottle unnecessary for the two of us as it was easy to pair with the courses. We will be back for more!"

"Service, beverages, and food were amazing... Cypress never lets us down. The tuna & oyster appetizer blew our minds... so many flavors in one bite! The cucumber mojito is fantastic, and the bacon jam on the bottom of their version of the blue-cheese wedge salad makes it hard not to want to lick the plate. One of our top 5 favorite restaurants anywhere."
