"The food at Bacchus is very good. The portions are generous and well presented. The prices are comparable to similar restaurants. The only minor drawback is that the service is slow. Plan to spend an extra hour on dinner."

"We went to Bacchus BEFORE the theater. The waiter kept promising that our dinners would be out shortly, but they never came. We cancelled the meals having only 15 minutes to get to the show."

"We did not eat there this time. The seating was so poor we had to leave.
We were seated at a 2-person table that was very long, so we sat at a distant from each other, but the table was very narrow which meant that we were on top of other diners. So, in this arrangement we would need to shout to each other (not very intimate) yet we were so close to the other two tables that everyone else could hear our conversation. Not what I would pay top dollar for.
Note: We have dined at Bacchus at least 5 other times and have brought friends and recommended the place. It is typically a very special place with excellent food, a nice atmosphere and good service. I would change their seating."

"Baccus used to me my favorite restaurant in Buffalo, but this time I was really disappointed. The service was SLOW. We were seated for about 20 minutes without being offered even water. I was about to just go to the bar and get myself a drink when a server finally came over and apologized, saying that no one told her we had been seated in her section. Were we invisible?
I was also disappointed that the bistro steak wasn't on the menu. The server apologized for that, too, saying it might come back for the summer. Why take it off? As far as I know, that was a popular item.
There were more problems with the ambiance, but I've just about run out of room."

"We four diners had exceptional dinners and the great good fortune to be seated in the corner table facing out on Frankin & Chippewa. What a show on a Saturday night! One area for improvement was our server, who was friendly and started out as attentive but then disappeared for long periods of time. There is a need for better training or more staffing."

"Last Thursday was the second time that my wife and I ate at Bacchus and we were equally impressed. The food was beautifully prepared (I have never received salmon, encrusted in ground pecans) so perfectly cooked in a restaurant. We will most definitely return again the next time we "shuffle off to Buffalo" from Ontario. On the previous visit a vegetarian friend tried their zucchini pasta - which induced me to locate a vegetable grater that would mimic what they served."

"A very nice surprise. Went with friends. Service was great and attentive. Atmosphere was upscale but relaxed in that you did not feel uptight or nervous. The tables are not crowded together so that you do feel that you are in a nice and somewhat hip dining room but without pretension but rather celebrating the people eating wonderful food.
The menu could be more adventurous but then again there are other restaurants where people go to try new things. This is a place to go and have very well prepared food.
The food was fresh, well prepared and better than expected. It satisfied the foodie and did not scare off the casual diner.
Great experience will recommend that friends go to Bacchus and will happily return"

"Congratulations on your success! Bacchus went from boutique restaurant to hopping night spot in just one year. The food remains fantastic but the wine list has slipped a little from a year ago. Thankfully they still offer their fantastic Chateau de Pibarnon Bandol! We were there at the same time as three large groups so service was, understandably, a little less attentive. However the quality remained high and was worth the wait."

"We had a great dinner before a show at Shea’s Theatre on a Saturday night. The restaurant got quite busy after 5:30-6 and there were two large groups celebrating birthdays. If you were looking for a romantic dinner the tables closer to the party would have been disappointed. The wait staff was great, always around filling water glasses clearing plates but you didn’t feel rushed. The food was good, I had two small plates, good portions, the beat salad and mussels. Both were delicious, I also had a side of risotto which was a generous portion. My husband had bone in veal. He was a little disappointed with the veal it came charred from the grill on the outside and a little to overdone for his med/rare tase But he said it was still good."

"My husband and I decided to try Bacchus as a pre-theater place to eat. We were pleased with the ambiance, excellent service and quality of our meals. Between us, we had the pecan crusted salmon (wonderful!) and the duck breast (also very tasty, but I'd edge towards the salomon if pressed). A short walk to the Andrews Theatre on Main St. made for a very delightful evening."

"Bacchus is my favorite restaurant by far. My husband and I go to Bacchus any chance we get! We love the location, the ambiance, the service and of course the food. I love that there are always specials and that the entrees come with sides that are paired to go with the meal. I have never had a bad meal, in fact, every meal I've had at Bacchus has been outstanding! I have tried almost every staple entree on the regular menu and they are all amazing. The service is also fantastic. We really can't say enough about Bacchus! Love it!"

"First visit. Casual yet elegant atmosphere. Excellent food and excellent service. Truly fine dining. Drove to Buffalo from Cleveland to see a concert. We eat out a lot and love to try new places. All agreed the drive was worth it just for the meal alone! Walking distance from the Hampton. Short cab/car ride from the Elmwood Strip. Highly recommend it."

"Food was very good - definitely one of the best in Buffalo. Really liked the decor and atmosphere - warm, upscale and contemporary, with big windows to view the street scene. However, I would suggest that Bacchus put some resources and focus into training their service personnel. We were a group of 7 but the restaurant wasn't that busy - there were a number of empty tables. It took 45 minutes to bring our appetizers - really? - and one of them was served to the wrong person. The replacement appetizer took another 15 minutes to arrive. When the meals came, only 6 arrived and the 7th came another 10 minutes later. For the prices charges, the service just didn't feel professional enough."

"The service and food are excellent at Bacchus. We also like the downtown location. The chairs were exceptionally comfortable as well. The prices were appropriate to the level of food, and there were both affordable and expensive wines on the list. I had the best grilled pork chop in my life with a perfect side of sauteed potatoes, apples, cranberries, and spinach. We strongly recommend it."

"Our party of six had a wonderful experience here. Service was great, and all of the food was delicious. Everybody loved what they ordered. Some ordered small plates, and others ordered large plates. Everyone was happy. The only criticism, and it's a minor one, is that they were out of the Gruner Veltliner wine they nornmally have available by the glass. The small plates we ordered included three different salads - Caesar, pear, and wilted spinach. I loved the wilted spinach salad! "Ate here during a short stay in Buffalo. Started off OK; server was pleasant. We each had the tuna tartar, which was tender, but came with too much guac--the amount of another appetizer. We had ordered the halibut special and rib eye as mains. Alas, no sooner had the server whisked away our starters than the mains were plunked down in front of us -- I mean immediately. It was clear the food had been sitting. The server apologized for the "overlap" and asked if we wanted him to take them away for a bit. Umm. You mean let them sit under heat lamps for 15 minutes? Should have insisted on fresh plates. Learned our lesson. The steak was medium, not medium rare as ordered, and the fish was overdone. Bacchus has aspirations, but is far from there."

"A very good fine dining experience in Downtown Buffalo. The chicken dish was excellent. The wine list showed some personality. The menu had pretty good breadth. I think calorie counters might find their choices a bit limited. Having said that, the main weakness I could detect in the entire offering was dessert: only five pretty conventional choices, and one of those was 86'ed. A bit more attention on that score would make an already strong offering even better."

"As always the food was top notch. Our waiter seemed disinterested in our table and cared more about the two larfe parties he was taking care of. Extremely dissappointed as last time the service was top notch. Nearly 15 minutes before we received our drink order and another 15 minutes between our dessert to go and the check being delivered. What should have beem an hour dinner turned into 2 hours with all the wait time."

"We gave this place a try because I had some gift certificates that they accept. I am SO happy we did. Wine list was amazing, food was delish ( we has the potatoe skins, ceasar salad, mushroom bisque, and then dinner and desert.) The ambiance was really cool and our server was so friendly and patient. I had a very hard time deciding what to eat as everything on the menu looked great. We are already planning our next visit."
