"I wasn't living here when the restaurant was under different management but I can say this new owner definitely is a class act. The wait staff is efficient and friendly, the food delicious, and the ambiance subdued ... just how I like it when I want to be able to carry on a meaningful conversation. I requested a quiet table away from the front door and they happily accommodated us. I'd also written that it was a birthday celebration so they brought a scrumptious lavender creme brulee with fresh berries on top - and a candle yet - compliments of the restaurant! Our wine was delicious and their pours generous. I will definitely return to try their dinner menu. It's a bit pricey but definitely worth it. Fabulous pommes frites!"

"My office is two blocks from Bellamy's, and I have been there several times for business lunches and most recently a celebratory dinner with clients. I had liked the predecessor, Tango's, which rumor has it closed when its owner/chef accepted a private job elsewhere. That tells a tale that survival in the restaurant business is a close thing, and the long hours and financial peril will make any sane person seek a more secure position. That same rumor has it that an admiring customer hated to see the place close, and purchased the business to be reopened in its current incarnation. It could be an apocryphal story, but an interesting one.
I had pork cheeks last night, and they were terrific. An adventure with a true reward. Go."

"Went to Bellamy's spur of the moment wanting to try a "new" place. We split an appetizer with sea urchin as the main ingredient -ok (but then I'm not a big SU fan. We both had the special suckling pig as a main course and it was wonderful! Service was energetic though it was obvious that some (all?) of the staff was new and learning the ropes. The chef came out and asked us how we liked the food, always a nice touch. The tasting menu a neighboring table was having looked and smelled scrumptious. The ambience was comfortable and the noise level refreshingly low. We could actually converse in a normal tone of voice, imagine that. We will be back for another visit and if it's as good as this time Bellamy's will be added to our favorites list."

"Was extremely pleased with my server, Xavier. Both food and service were beyond expectations. Squid ink risotto and panna cotta are my favorite. Brussel sprouts with bacon has room for improvement."

"We have been following Patrick Ponsaty for many years and are so happy that he is now in North County. His innovative menu and cooking style are not to be missed. The piano bar music wafts into the dining room and is an added touch. TYhere is a room in the back of the restaurant for private parties."

"Open Table listed them with 2 $$ which means $30 and under but several of their entrees were $40 and over. Their menu is very small and not particularly interesting. They serve their food which is presented very nicely on these flat tiles. Looks good but makes it hard to eat because the food slides off of the edges. My husband liked his lamb chops and my son liked his tenderloin but my duck breast was tough and lacked flavor. I just thought it was way too expensive for what it was. Go down the street to Entertwined or Vincents and have a better meal for much less."

"I found this place with the Groupon and then learned they also had a great happy hour in the bar section. My husband and I went early to sample some appetizers and wine; both half off. The mussels were fantastic, the largest and most I juicy I have ever had. The bartender was very friendly; in fact every member of their staff was helpful. I could tell they really wanted us to feel welcome and come back.
We shared the prix fix 3 course dinner and had the brussel sprouts which were good, but the salmon was by far the best part of the meal. It was cooked perfectly, nice brown crusty exterior and melt in your mouth center. This place is good and if you like to support local businesses, you should go."

"A neighborhood wine bar and restaurant on Grand in Escondido; formerly Tangos. The service and ambiance were very good. Our waiter took great care of us. Since we dined there on a Monday evening, it was quiet and romantic. The wine bar is in a separate room, so it would not intrude into the restaurant, even on a busier night. The food was just OK. The presentation was better than average, but the flavors a bit off. The salmon was bland. The fetuccini was salty. Considering the prices, I had hoped for more excitement for the pallet. Still worth of at least 3 stars."

"Had a great time with a friend. Food was delicious, the wine was smooth and service was over and above friendly. The chairs were comfortable and even the dinnerware was really neat .Loved everything about it. Only thing I would mention is that the piano music was a touch loud, but not enough to cause an unpleasant experience."

"Previously "Tango on Grand" (with a lot of the old service staff still around, which is good - especially Xavier) but the food is better. The dining room is still small and can feel tight, especially if there is a large and/or boisterous group, so a reservation is probably a good idea. Apparently the new chef is previously from El Bizcocho at the RB Inn so that is the caliber of talent we're talking about. Prices vary from ~$15 for a small pasta dish to ~$42 for beef tenderloin. That said, everyone at my table was pleased with their food (whereas Tango on Grand was a little hit-and-miss especially toward the end). Street parking is tight, especially on weekends, but there is a lot in back via an alley, though not super assessible."

"The food and the service were beyond compare. We had the Veal Cheeks and the Endive Salad - both were superb. Our waiter was helpful and attentive. My husband wanted the soup a little warmer, so our waiter suggested that he chill my salad while my husband's soup was being warmed. When he returned with the hot soup and salad, I noticed that they had given me a new salad. This will be a regular on our list of restaurants.
We took some friends to lunch at Bellamy's the day before and they were very impressed. They live in Fallbrook and were looking for a great restaurant not too far from home. They plan to return soon."

"This was our first experience with Bellamy's. We chose to use a Groupon for the evening and the restaurant was most accomodating. A special menue was provided for the groupon special and it gave us a good taste of what the chef could do. The food was beautiful presented, creatively conceived and wonderfully tasty. The service was quite attentive and personable. It was a lovely evening and we plan to return and experience the rest of the menue. It was a joy to find this gem in downtown Escondido."

"Here is another great find and on Grand in Escondido. We were so pleased to try this restaurant as we have seen so many restaurants come and go in this area. Service is impeccable. Food was very good. Special was linguine with shrimp and my friend licked the bowl. I had open face chicken salad on focaccia bread. Good but not great. Needed salt and some other seasoning...maybe a little curry? My other friend had the flat iron steak sandwich with med. rare steak which she doesn't like. I thought it was great! Possibly the waiter could have asked how she likes her steak done. Not everybody likes medium rare steak. We shared the chocolate lava flourless dessert. Yummy with salted caramel ice cream and caramelized pineapple."

"While the food was excellent, the service was uneven. The server did not engage about the menu, which has many interesting dishes. Our wait for our entrees was 45 minutes and the server did not realize that until we mentioned it. Diners who were seated after us were being served their meals. The manager did not seem to be aware of what was happening in the dining room; instead he spent quite a bit of time setting up heaters on the patio for one table."

"My husband and I used to eat at this restaurant when it was Tangos and liked it, but Bellamy's is so much better. Wonderful food and a great dining experience! Let's hope that other members of the community also support this restaurant so we can keep a great place to dine in downtown Escondido."
