The signature dish at Legal Sea Foods – really fresh fish.
Enjoy ocean-side dining just steps from the New England Aquarium. Our restaurant couldn’t be more convenient to the Financial District, Freedom Trail, Faneuil Hall and waterfront hotels.
We think a visit to Boston must include a meal at Legal Sea Foods.

"We visited Boston for Father's Day. Food was just okay, especially for the price. Just not very tasty. Fish was fresh, but not flavorful. The best part of our dinner was the chowder and the cocktail "old fashioned old fashion." Fish & Chips were soggy, doughy and tasteless. Sorry, we won't return."

"This is our go to spot to celebrate family occasions and just to have a dinner out! Unfortunately this time it was a bit off! It was Father's Day ... but the service was a little slow! My daughter wanted the grilled chicken sandwich and they were "out of chicken" .. My lobster roll was just OK .. and usually it's excellent! Tables were a little overcrowded which made it difficult to move around .. Really wasn't a great experience for the $$$"

"Of all the times, we've eaten at LS, this was the first time the food has not been good. The kids half lobster was rubbery, my crab cakes had shells and was too salty, we were seated right next to the hostess stand, and could hear the wait staff speaking loudly about their dates, etc. just not a great experience to take our grand daughter for a special meal."

"We chose this restaurant for its name and convenience right after the whale watch. It was only so-so. Lobster was pretty expensive, and I have made better fish dishes at home. Kids enjoyed their fish sticks and shrimp. I'm glad it was pretty noisy, as I didn't stress too much over my kids being slightly rowdy. Just an OK experience."

"It was our fisrt dinner in Boston and we enjoy a lot. Table was prepared when we arrived, and the wairtress was very nice and explain everything very well. It was avaible the menucard in spanish (goog point for us). Lobster was delicious, and with good size.

"The striped bass I had was to die for and so was the chocolate mousse parfait. Our waiter was very attentive. The only downside was a screaming child at the next table which, in addition to the overall noise, made it difficult to chat comfortably."

"Hugely disappointed all the way around. Asked for a table by a window and brought to the one closest to kitchen. Something could have been mentioned at hostess stand. It was downhill from there. Our server insisted in taking our dinner order before bringing the bottle of wine we ordered. Starters were ok, entrees dry and overcooked. Too commercial."

"Food and service was outstanding. Noise level was really high. We were seated next to the bar and kitchen which did not help. Did notlike the fact that the main eentrance is also used by the staff to serve food to customers outside. The main entrance is not large enough to handle people waiting for a table , service and customers trying to leave. They need a desperate door to the patio for service. Having the bar with the open kitchen also near the front entrance also does not help with noise level and flow of the Resturant."

"Went with a friend from out of state at 6PM on a 90-degree Friday. Place was hopping, but our server never missed a beat. I simply asked about a different combo from what was shown on the menu; she came back with full details for a special order that was just what I wanted. The food was, of course, just right. A nice Australian Shiraz was recommended and much enjoyed. Though it was busy, and my friend and I spent an hour talking after the meal, the staff didn't rush us out; really appreciated that."

"We had appitizers and a salad for dinner. Tried several. Calamari, oysters, polenta, and Ceasar. Rolls warm and exc. dessert outstanding cheese cake we split. Wine. Sav Blanc bottle reasonable and doubt standing as well. All fantastic save the. Lise. More than 2 people and anyone over 60 would be unable to hear. Would highly recommend and return despite noise as all places are. noisy these days. Fantastic food and service."

"This time of year with the kids out of school the scene can be a bit hectic and touristy. In those cases, the entry area is often very hectic, crowded, and not welcoming. The ambience gets a bit negative in these situations, but the food is always good."

"Had a noon, then moved it to 12:45 because we were running late and ended up showing up at 12:20. The place was packed but we were seated right away. This was a very pleasant surprise. Then we got our food and everything was good. We got the lobster bake and shared it with 4 people and it was moore than enough. Mom got the seafood casserole and she said it was really good too. Only thing I would really complain about is at some point our server was nowhere to be seen and we all needed refills. Other than that it was a great experience.""

"We went here to celebrate our son's college graduation for dinner. We had crab cakes, fresh wood-grilled haddock and a lobster. Fish was excellent! Lobster was super fresh. The crab cakes were good but not great. Always had oysters - raw. Very tasty. We have never had a bad meal at Legal. Very good service too. This location is crowded so that was the only downside but it did not hamp0er service."

"Legal Seafoods at Long Wharf, 101 State Street, exceeded our already high expectations. They took us in immediately with our Open Table reservation, seated us with a charming waiter named Rick, then did everything right: the seafood was excellent, the menu offered great choices, the scallops were amazing, and Rick has apparently learned everything there is to know about seafood in his ten years at Legal. The timing of service was right, nothing was pushed on us, and Rick was there to get us what WE wanted, and the menu was just a guide. It was a beautiful night for college graduation. Have the bon-bons for dessert."

"Great food and for the most part great service. The only negative thing I'd have to say is our waiter really tried to "push" us towards some food items and wines. His recommendations were of course the more expensive option to what we were originally trying to order. I gave in to his request to get the more expensive wine. I stuck to what I wanted for food. I'm sure the clam chowder is amazing as it is world famous, but I knew we didn't need that much food and had to refuse it at least twice.
Other than that the waiter was great and it was a wonderful experience. Make a reservation!"

"I made a reservation for a gratuation lunch. The day of I had to call and make is a little later from 1245 to 1 115 and the vocie on the other end was very rude and hung up on me before I could even say by. When we got there at about 1245 I though maybe our table would have been ready since we were there at the original time but we waited about 10 20 minutes which was no big deal at all cause the food like always was amazing!!! The food was so great and the apps and bread per usual were out of this world, but out server was less than out of this world. Server was slow and not friendly at all and hits were very rude and not helpful. All in all we had a great time but drinks need to come before apps and meal."

"I made a reservation for 10 people for the special occasion of my graduation because I knew there is usually a long wait (at least 1 hr) on weekend nights. The food was delicious and everyone enjoyed it. We ordered the Rhode Island style calamari to start and a couple bottles of moscato which was fresh and light. Even the bread rolls are fresh and tasty. I shared the filet, shrimp and scallop dish with my significant other. I definitely recommend it and the Boston Creme Pie for dessert! It was noisy but that is to be expected since everyone loves the food!"

"Good food, reasonable prices and good service. Only major complaint was that service way much too fast! It was like a factory on an assembly line and it felt like staff wanted to turn the customers over as quickly as possible so that your table could be made available to the next party."

"Great atmosphere but the food I had was not very good. I had the fishermans platter. On the plus side, it's a fun place and the service was good. I recommend sitting at the bar as this seemed like the place to be."

"I used to live in Boston and was excited about introducing a friend to Legal Sea Foods. We expected to pay a lot but get a memorable meal. Instead, the catch of the day was mediocre, and we were hurried in and out to make room for other diners. I won't be back."

"Kicked off a bachelor party weekend here and had a great meal. The service was excellent. Felt a little rushed because food came out so fast; I think we had three courses within an hour. But it got us to the bars faster, and that's better than it taking too long. Everything tasted great too."

"I will start by saying in the end we had a very enjoyable time, but this restaurant was completely overwhelmed by the afternoon Mother's day lunch.
When I got on the highway heading in to Boston from the South Shore it was nearly a parking lot from Randolph into the City - I realized that the 45 minutes I had allowed to get into the city was not going to be enough. I called the restaruant to let them know I was going to be about 15 minutes late. When I arrived they had given away my table becuase they said I didn't call. I told them I did call and the hostess gave the other host a guilty look. They got me a nice table in about 10 minutes after my arrival.
My wife loves their baked stuffed - it never disappoints, waiters were excellent."

"The food was very good. The only drawback for me was the intense traffic to get there and the price for parking was very expensive.

I would not come back because of the cost of parking.

"We went for my daughters 15th birthday, mother/daughter lunch alone. The appetizer was great. The lunch took a little long to come out (backed -up we were told) but it was worth the wait. I had the seafood casserole. It was very creamy and good. THe waiter was not hurried or rushed. He was very polite."

"There were so many outstanding choices it was hard to decide what to order. We chose the Woodgrill Sampler and were not disappointed. The service was excellent, our waiter, Alex, was outgoing and professional and was attentive to our requests. He helped to make the atmosphere fun as well. Definitely a place we would go to again when we visit Boston again."

"Three of us had a wonderful graduation lunch recently. The food was outstanding. The waiter was great. The service was fast and the water glasses always full. The prices were reasonable. We sat by a window looking out at the harbor, which was nice. And it was warm, which was a relief because the temperature had dipped 20 degrees from the previous day, and it was windy. My only complaints are the noise and loud/jarring music."

"Food was quite commendable. My only minor complaint was there were only 4 shrimp (although large) on the stuffed shrimp dinner entree and I felt it was short one or two for a dinner portion. We dined atb7:00 on a Saturday and as expected it was crowded. The noise was a bit more than I would have liked and I attribute it to the tables places close together. Not unbearable but noisier than I would have liked."
