A full-service restaurant, the Fearrington Granary is the perfect spot to enjoy fresh creative cuisine in a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. Executive Chef Colin Bedford's Contemporary American menus feature a delightful selection of salads, entrees, items from the grill and desserts. This vibrant restaurant provides seating on various levels with views of the charming village shops, surrounding gardens, and the rolling pastures filled with Belted Galloway Cows.
"THE best casual restaurant in the entire Triangle! Under Chef Collin, the food is beyond perfection. The fried chicken is quite simply the best I've ever had. It's truly a wonderful and easy dining experience. Thank you!"

"This renovated granary is lovely. The indoor space is open, modern, and warm. The outdoor seating in the garden is sun/shade and very pretty. Service is very good, and food is good with fresh ingredients. Great place to walk after brunch (nearby pond and animals) and to visit local shops. And the coffee is quite good."

"Having dined at Fearrington House several times over the years, I admit I had certain expectations of the Granary even though I understood it was not intended to be the same level of dining experience given the different price point. The food was fussy, but lacked flavor. My cup of asparagus soup arrived lukewarm. While I was intrigued by the lemon posset, it ended up being a too sweet pudding reminiscent of Greek yogurt. My dinner companion had the ice cream sandwich -- one of the brownie layers was overcooked. Additionally, the service was inattentive, although the restaurant was only moderately busy considering it was a Saturday evening. I was unimpressed."

"Went to the Sunday Brunch and we were seated upstairs. We were each given water and one biscuit about 20 minutes after being seated, but waited a very long time to receive coffee and have our order taken. When the food finally arrived it was somewhat cold. We had to ask repeatedly for coffee, water, or a biscuit as our waiter rarely made it to our table. The was providing for all of the tables on the second level (about 8) by himself. In fact we never received the coffee refill we requested and finally we decided to pay the bill and leave. I have enjoyed this brunch in the past, but don't think I will be returning. Could be better staffed to handle the crowd."

"Loved the food here. It was fun to experience new foods not in the everyday monotony. Hard floors and no tableclothes meant the noise was not dampened downstairs, which would be my only complaint. I did take a look upstairs where carpets helped with the noise level. Service was perfect! And the setting was fantastic."

"The food was as good as usual but I miss all the possible combinations that were possible when you were able to select an entree and sides and a sauce. Now someone else has decided what is the best combination for the diner. The waiter checked to see if a sauce previously on the menu was available but it was not. I think the restaurant lost something that set it apart."

"I ordered the Caesar salad and it came with not enough dressing but when asked, they quickly brought some dressing on the side. I then had the flounder which was badly overcooked to the point that I sent it back and ordered the lamb which was absolutely excellent. We both had glasses of wine and both were a good pour.
All in all, we thoroughly enjoyed the meal, albeit we had to make changes."

"We went for my wife's birthday and the service and food was fantastic. Our server Jennifer was incredible, she knew the menu as if she was preparing the meal for us and made suggestions on what would be good to try. The menu had offerings had made it difficult what to choose - so much homecooked comfort food type meals. The shrimp and grits ranks up there with Crook's Corner's offering of the same meal. The crab and risotto dish had apple highlights that gave it a uniquely wonderful gastro experience. Both meals were generous portions, reasonably priced and we left full and satisfied. We will be returning for lunch very soon some weekend to enjoy outside dining next. My commpliments to the chef and staff here!!!!! Delicious!!!"

"Outstanding menu selection with several gems. Lobster risotto was overcooked and too soupy, but the fried chicken was divine. Service was less than adequate and required multiple requests for many items. However, coupled with the great atmosphere, the dining experience was still worthwhile and worthy of a second chance."

"We live in Fearrington Village where the Granary has its home. We like to support our community and this is very nice restaurant. We dined leisurely and talked uninterrupted by wait staff from 7-10 pm on a Wed. evening. We never felt rushed.
The food was very good and moderate to high in price, but a good value and artfully prepared and served. Would recommend it others and we plan to visit again in the future. It would be nice if they were to offer Fearrington Village residents some minor perks to dine there. For example, maybe a free dessert for any one dessert ordered?? This is a value/cost-conscious community of retirees and we like our perks and deserve them! :)"

"I hadn't been to the location since it had changed from a more casual spot called the Market. My husband and I had a very pleasant surprise. Everything was terrific! We just wish it was closer to our home now. It's perfect for the neighborhood out in the countryside that it belongs to, but is a bit of a distance for those who live in the town of Chapel Hill. I think it would be a great destination for brunch!"

"We eat at the Granary often because of the great food and excellent service. On this trip there was a tour bus group just entering the restaurant for dinner. They were very noisy coming in and throughout dinner (obviously had been driving some distance and needed a break) The kitchen was overwhelmed and we had to wait a considerable time for our meals to come out, but when they did, they were delicious."
