"This has long been one of my favorite, authentic Italian restaurants in the city. While the chef riffs on northern cuisine classics, he never strays too far from the traditional essence which almost always results in successfully raising the bar.
Now for the service -- or lack thereof. I don't want the server coming to my table every 30 seconds but I also don't want to have to flag anyone down to get a glass of wine. We were served by at least five different people, three of whom forgot to bring over the things we asked for - nothing complicated -- water, clean forks, a glass of wine. It was a major disappointment."

"We were 4 girls attending a reasonably early dinner before a Broadway show. They were aware of our time commitment and kept us on schedule which we really appreciated. Server was great when we saw him but we often had to ask another waiter or bus person to help us because we could never get his attention (another fork, another round of drinks etc....) Bus staff definitely made up for the service - they were wonderful. Food was outstanding - everyone loved their appetizers and main dishes. We also enjoyed the wonderfully creative cocktails. The decor is really great and definitely added to our overall experience. We would go back no question!"

"This restaurant went far beyond my expectations. I love italian food and wasn't expecting much except to get my pasta fix but I was pleasantly surprised. We started with the Crostini Misti and Grilled Octopus. The crostini misti came with about 5 giant crostini's with cheese and bruschetta and prosciutto. For the entree I had the spinach and ricotta tortellini with a butter sage sauce. It was possibly the best pasta dish I ever had. I will definitely be back! I think I found my new favorite restaurant!"

"Great atmosphere, wine selection, salads, and appetizers fantastic. Soups and fish entree great. Very disappointed in the pork special. The meat was tender and moist, the toppings were great, but the meat was incredibly bland. It tasted like it was cooked in unseasoned bread crumbs or something. Three of us in our party had it, and later agreed we should have sent it back. Overall a cool place with a great atmosphere, but very disappointed in the special, should have ordered something else. Based on other reccomendations, I would try it again however."

"This was my second time dining at Bocca. The wine list is extensive and the food amazing. We had the muscles appetizer - if I could, I would have drank the leftover broth, it was SO good. The pastas are all fresh and delicious. I had the gnocchi and my mother had the fish special and thought it was great. The best part of our night was that we were heading to a broadway show - our waiter was so accommodating about getting our food out to us."

"The staff were amazing! Attentive, friendly and had a real sense of pride in their work. The food was deliciously homely was served quickly, smoothly and piping hot. I just can't believe that I have lived so close to this restaurant for 7 months and never been in. Well all that will change from now on, Bocca di Bacco has just become my new local. Great experience!"

"We came back a week later after enjoying the first time. It was even better; food very good, and service by Gustavo was excellent. Ordered same interesting wine and apparently it was without the same freshness, body and flavor. They immediately apologized and opened a new bottle at the table (so we would see they were actually doing it); it was great wine, tasted terrific and a body that was not dull or flat. The management are welcoming, warm and seek to serve the clientel to ensure our enjoyment. Highly recommend to all."

"Loved the delicious food and appreciated the good service, but it was so noisy, my dinner companions and I couldn't communicate! We left the restaurant early, forgoing dessert (and we were out celebrating a BIRTHDAY, so skipping cake on a special occasion like that is saying a lot!), just so we could get away from the clatter and hear each other. I'm sure it's not as noisy if you are seated towards the front of the restaurant, but the acoustics toward the back made for some pretty incomprehensible dinner conversation."

"Excellent food, we had the grilled branzino, the gnocchi, the mushroom bruschetta, all were deliciously prepared. The pasta is home made. Lots of green veggies to choose from as side dishes, and salads are creative and tasty. The ambiance is warm and inviting with rustic woods and exposed brick, candles and wine bottles you feel like you are in a very cool bar/restaurant in Italy. They have about seventy wines by the glass, and even a 3 oz. tasting portion. Very impressive wine selection. Will definitely go back."

"I have been here several times before. The restaurant is in the theater district and is very good choice for pre theatre. this time we we had lunch, and ate very lightly, just several appetizers which were all very good and was plenty. Bocca di Bacco is one of many interesting ethnic spots in this area and is definiely worth a try."

"Had to find a place last minute for myself, my boyfriend and his father who I was meeting for the very first time. YIPES! Needless to say I needed to pick a good place. Well, Bocca di Bacco was indeed the BEST place I could have taken them. The space itself is lovely, intimate and very well decorated. Maybe a bit too dark for my bf's dad to read the menu but hey there are worse things. The staff was super helpful and very personable. The FOOD! Just delicious and very fairly priced. I would go back in a heart beat! Plus I got some major points for picking such a great place. This is the place to go!"

"Place is cozy and quaint. Food was delicious. Server was great. Only (minor) disappointment was that the bartender was humorless. NYC bartenders set a very high standard and this guy was completely lacking in personality. Would still go back for the homemade pasta."

"the food was okay. My mussels came cold but the fava soup was delicious. the rosemary chicken was just okay also. One of the party had Osso Bucco and was very impressed with the dish and I think that the other lamb dish was good also. Very noisy but it was a Saturday night. I would probably try other places first before going back there"

"The reservation system is a disaster. I made my reservation online and even called that day to confirm. Then I showed up on time and was told they could not find me in their system. My party of six people was crammed into a table meant for four."

"So loud we could not hear each other across a tiny table. Food was scrumptious, but don't go at peak times if you want to talk to your dining companions at all. Loved the mushroom bruschetta and fish ravioli. Lamb shank was huge and tasty. Salmon looked very good though I didn't try it."

"We had a wonderful dinner on February 16, 2013. The service was excellent. Our waiter Gustavo was extremely friendly and helpful. Our meal was fantastic. I liked the decor as well. The brick walls and rustic looking tables added warmth and coziness to the restaurant. Would definitely go back again and reccommend it to friends."

"Between the food, the service, and the friendliness of the staff, including one of the waiters that was not even our server, it was amazing. This is not a tourist spot, so all you will find here is delicious food at really good prices. We arrived after 11:00 PM and we got great service that lasted until we left at 1:30 AM. Order the Crostini Misti, trust me."

"My only complaint is that when I made the reservation, I was hoping for 5pm or even 4:30 because of plans we had afterward. But Open Table came back with only 4pm or 6pm or later for a table for 2. I took 4pm. The place was absolutely empty and was still empty when we left at 5:15. What's that all about?"
