"We went there for the first time last week and already have been back. I really liked the Happy Hour and the cowder..and that is why we went ...But then the lobster roll looked to good to pass up. My fiance had the Fish and Chips and he said it was really good. I did not try it. Still can't wait to go when the sun is warm and shining to sit outside."

"Our first visit was because of the lobster roll..Having lived on Cape Cod we have craved a lobster roll since moving here to CA. It was really good. It could have used some more lobster for the price but it was very good. We had it warm and it was yummy..We also had the clam cowder and it was almost as good as when I made it..Our server was very nice and attentive. They even had a happy hour with 1.00 drafts...can't beat that.
can't wait to go back in the summer and sit outside.."

"Very good food and preparation. Good service - not rushed but attentive. A good assortment of seafood prepared in a variety of ways. Oysters were popular with some of my guests and clam chowder was always well received. Desserts were particularly good and seasonal. "When I went on to the Open Table website to change my reservation from 5:00 to 7:30, I could not access a time beyond 5:30. I called the restaurant to change the time, but they did not have a reservation for me, though I had received a confirmatin email from Open Table. Thankfully it wasn't a Saturday night and they were able to accept my reservation at the last minute. Don't know if this was a problem with Open Table or the restaurant's system. We did enjoy our meal very much. The seafood was excellent and expertly prepared. The coconut cream pie was light with wonderful flavor. Our server was very attentive. We'll go back for sure."

"The new addition to the menu Flat Iron Steak with Sauteed Shrimp was a destination dish and the best of its class. Sole remains dependable, relatively thick, fleshy, moist and flavorful. Tuna roll was major disappointment--basically tuna salad on a roll when expected a tuna steak. Sides are outstanding. The bar when Kellie is there is also a destination experience, especially her 10-Cane mojito. Wine list adequate but not a good value."

"It was our 29th anniversary and both of us said let's just go to Yankee Pier. Funny, you wouldn't think of Yankee Pier as a romantic/celebration type of place for a 29th anniversary - but, we ALWAYS have great food, great service and it is such a wonderful and comfortable environment that that is where we chose. We try to get there at least once a month and wish our schedules would permit us to get there weekly!!! Have highly recommended YP to friends who also make the restraunt a regular destination. Keep up the good work!!!"

"My husband and I had been wanting to try Yankee Pier for a while. The food was good and seafood fresh, but not anything special. It was expensive for what we considered an average meal. The cocktails were fair to poor, they seemed to have scooped up a lot of water with the ice put in our glasses.We had a bad table by the door and very small, it was cold and not at all private. There were people standing above us waiting for a table while we were trying to talk and have dinner. Our waitress was good and attentive. The atmosphere and decor reminded us of a Disneyworld Food court. While the food was good, it wasn't good enough to return."

"We chose Yankee Pier for our Valentine's dinner based on a recommendation from a friend who had eaten lunch there. Although we had read several negative reviews for the restaurant on another website, we were very pleased with our meal and the overall dining experience there. We were impressed with how extensive the menu was (both light and heavier fare offered) and we found the wait staff to be very attentive and knowledgable. "The fish was good, which is this restaurant's only saving grace. They pack in too many tables, the place is loud, the servers are harried, the side dishes are inexcusably bad, including an undercooked squash and inedible buttermilk biscuit. "Our first visit to YP was for Valentine's dinner and it was great. The dinning room was very cozy as they added tables. The Dungeness Crab Louie had a huge mound of hand-picked fresh crab with just the right amount of louie dressing on large leaves of butter lettuce. The fish and chips were great.. light beer batter and you choose between a 2, 3, or 4 piece serving. My husband chose 3 pieces but said 2 pieces would have been plenty.

We recently ate at Bradley Ogden's restaurant in Vegas and had the Chef's treat of Butterscotch pudding - 2 bites in a shot glass. Our waiter at YP called it a Chef's tease and that's exactly what it was. You can get a full serving at YP. Many more than 2 bites and absolutely Delicious! What a treat!!"

"Food and service were great, but avoid the back room! I've eaten here many times, and if I was going to be seated in the back room, I would rather not stay. Saturday night, two tables of 10 and 8 were in this room, along with my table of four. These two groups were so loud, so inconsiderate of any other dinners, that our dinner was all but ruined. I couldn't hear my husband who was right next to me over the shouting and loud laughter from the table next to ours. Fish tacos were great, and crab salad was lovely, but we ate and RAN, who wants to linger with that racket?"

"We brought a friend and her daughter on a revisit. (My wife and I have been there a number of times and our friend once before). Our friend said they had served the best seafood she has had. This last visit was up to that level as judged by the Ahi and Hawaiian Mahi Mahi and two included side dishes. Service was attentive and friendly. The fruit crisp dessert, one of several choices, was outstanding."

"I wanted to take my parents who were visiting from New York to a a good seafood restaurant. Good choice with Yankee Pier. We ordered calamari and popcorn shrimp as appetizers - light and crispy. Our entrees were dungeness crab cioppino; grilled mahi mahi; grilled rockfish; crabcakes. All very good - nicely seasoned and juicy. It would have been even better if the cioppino had a little more but all in all very delectable. Our waiter was knowledgeable and patient. We would definitely return!"

"We had a very upsetting dining experience at Yankee Pier. I was with a group of 6 women celebrating one of our 50th birthdays. The food was very good and the portion size fair. About 20 - 30 minutes after we were seated, we were told we were being too loud, and they'd had a complaint. Our service declined after that. Our server didn't even pour the wine on the 2nd and 3rd bottles and barely gave us any attention. We were surprised to get told we were too loud as the restaurant is bright and open and has an energetic noise level. This is not a romantic/candle-lit restaurant. It really put a damper on our evening, and the more we think about it, we regret giving a 20% tip to the server. The restaurant needs to re-think the service level."

"Always good food there. Best fish and chips around. For a relatively casual place, the service is very attentive. Fish is very fresh and well prepared with lots of options on the menu. We were there for the start of "Crab Fest" so there were lots of "crab items" as well as live Maine Lobster available.

"The restaurant was very nice with pleasant ambiance and a busy crowd. The food was delicious, we had the petrale sole and enjoyed a nice bottle of Sauvignon Blanc. The only negative (which is a big one)is that we had to stand in the doorway for over 25 minutes waiting for our "reserved" table. I'm confused why we make reservations if we have to wait with the walk ins for an available table. The Manager came to us at least three times apologizing for the wait, but that doesn't make it okay. I was dining with a client and it was awkward for me that our reservation didn't mean anything.

"I ordered a lunch-size portion of the Hawaiian Mahi-mahi in this last visit. The Mahi is blackened and I remember being satisfied with the flavor. "We came for New Years Eve. dinner because they advertised a lovely Lobster special. However when we arrived we found they were out of all Lobster, and two of the special desserts. I find it absurd for a restaurant to run out of the specials on a special holiday menu. The food was okay, the waitress was insincere and her suggestions were awful. "This was our 3rd visit-to celebrate an anniversary. The restaurant was pleasantly busy (mid week) and the service attentive,efficient, and courteous. The Hawaiian Ahi was done perfectly (mid rare) and melted in one's mouth; Mahi Mahi blackened, outstanding. Fish and chips could be ordered in 1 to 4 pieces and, of course, our son took the 4 and loved the dish. They had a representative selection of seafood to satisfy the afficionado as well as non seafood and vegetarian dishes. Try the apple cranberry crisp with ice cream dessert! The oyster crackers from Vermont are a nice touch; we ordered a case of them from the company time before last to hand out to the grand kids!"

"We gave Yankee Pier a second chance, even thouigh our first experience on Father's Day was not great: food was bland and service was terrible. "This was my second dining experience at Yankee Pier in the last 3 weeks.

I was surprised that the lunch and dinner menu did not differ. While the food was very good, I do not this is a Zagat level restaurant. They serve several fresh fish dinners each night, but only grilled, blackened, or sauteed. The cost for 3 people, wth 2 drinks and one glass of wine was $122.00. For a simple, but fresh fosh dinner, seemed too expensive. Service was great!

"This was our second visit and we will be back again! We had the Manila Clams (again) and Ceviche for appetizers. If you love clams, the appetizer could easily be a meal. The wine flavored sauce complimented the clams and was also perfect for bread dipping. For dinner, I had the mahi mahi blackend with sides of spinach and rice. The mahi mahi was perfectly done and the spinach was not overcooked - it was flavorful with the red onions. My parents ordered the seafood platter to split and they pre-split the dinner for us, so when it was served they already each had their own plate. Very thoughtful much appreciated touch. Once again, the service was exceptional and the food delicious. Yankee Pier is our new favorite seafood restaurant."

"We ate on Thanksgiving one of us having the turkey dinner-good overall, stuffing bland, turkey cooked nicely, awesome mashed potatoes, great dessert. My husband had the lobster, part of which was very chewy in texture, his starter, side and dessert were very good. Service was EXCELLENT but not sure I would go back, just wasnt that memorable food wise."

"It was great to have a low-key Thanksgiving prix-fixe meal. Boyfriend had the salad w/ blue cheese, turkey and dressing, and fruit tart, while I had the clam chowder, steamed lobster (cooked perfectly), and butterscotch pudding. The pudding was truly outstanding!"

"We went to Yankee Pier for Thanksgiving. The food was excellent, far better than I had expected, and the price was reasonable. The mahi mahi was just about the best I have ever tasted, moist and flavorful. The lobster was cooked to perfection-- and big anough to make a couple of sandwiches with the leftovers! The side dishes were also delicious.

Very good food and generous portions. Pleasant service, with a very attentive couple of waiters.The only downside were the cocktails."

"Menu was limited because of Thanksgiving - was hoping for some oysters! But the food was good and it was wonderful that the restaurant stayed open for those of us on Thanksgiving who needed a good meal but did not have a place to go or preferred not to cook this year. Lobster and Turkey options were perfect, too. Pricing was great. Very nice people work there~

"Have dined here several times, and the food is always fresh and very good. Not a great presenation but always fresh. I would say their prices are high but you get good sized portions, but at Lunch it is worth to get the full size for a few dollars more since the lunch size portions are on the smaller side. "A friend and I dined at Yankee Pier yesterday to celebrate her birthday. Thanks to our Open Table reservation, we were given an excellent table! Our server was absolutely wonderful, making excellent suggestions and giving us exactly the right amount of attention. We began by splitting an order of steamed clams. The portion was generous, and the broth very delicious. However, a large percentage of the clams were gritty! We then followed with fish tacos, which were excellent. My only complaint concerns their pricing for a cup of hot tea. $3.50!!!!! Yes, it was "MIghty Leaf organic". However, I purchase that brand all the time and one tea bag should have cost Yankee Pier no more than 70 cents. That mark-up was astounding!"

"Despite being very busy about 15 minutes after we were seated, we never felt ignored. All requests were met in a timely and very polite manner. "We ordered the following.
1. Fish and Chips: They were a little too greasy that what they should be. I kept wipig my hand on the napkin after every bite. Fries on the other hand were cold.
2. Linguini with Clams: The pasta was rubbery, more because of quality than over cooking. The clams in the shell were fine, but the clam meat in the sauce was rubbery and has to be spit out.
3. Lobster Bisque: Good
4. Clam Chowder: Good

I will give them the benefit of doubt and try another set of dishes. Will update my feedback accordignly.

The atmoshphere was good, quiet and mellow at lunch time on a Saturday."

"Our dinning experience was amazing! First off we were seated in the perfect booth near the window! Our server was very well informed about the menu and helped guide my girlfriend and I to selecting our dinner choices. We were served our starters very quickly! The soups and salads are to die for! For our entrees we both choose the Mahi Mahi. We each had it prepared differently and both dishes were excellent! The server was very on top of her A game! I would have to say this was one of the best dinning experiences I've had in awhile! This was very important since it was my girlfriends birthday. We will definetly be coming back here again sometime soon!"
