Gramercy Terrace is a striking space overlooking Manhattan, serving weekday breakfast, lunch, and weekend brunch (also available for private events). With a retractable roof seventeen stories above the city, Gramercy Terrace features a series of intimate and whimsical spaces that seamlessly blend indoor and outdoor space, with a seasonal menu of favorite American dishes with a playful spin. The newly re-imagined space is operated by Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group, and is accessible through an elevator from the Gramercy Park Hotel lobby.
"Pictures show this beautiful rooftop. Well it is old, worn, mediocre, and you see it in the daytime. Maybe by candle light or soft artificial lights none of this is visible. So go in the late evening not in the afternoon. The walls of the rooftop are high you can't see much of the skyline except the tops of some of the taller buildings and the top of the Chrysler. Does not compare with the many gorgeous rooftops in the city. The service is fair though and the food is good."

"I went to Gramercy Terrace after learning how good the place is for a brunch. I took my mom there for mother's day brunch and felt embarrassed somewhat. Despite very attentive service, they did not have two menus on Mother's day-French Toast & Home Fries. I had a reservation at 9 in the morning so I assume the chef or whoever is responsible for procurement was lazy or irresponsible. Very disappointed that they did not prepare ingredients on a very special day."

"Although we had reservations, we had to wait for about 20-25min for our table; it may not seem a lot but when you're hungry and hungover it is A LOT.
Once seated we actually had to ask the waitress to take our order; she seemed a little out of it and it took her for-ever to bring our drinks.
After waiting an insane amount of time for our food (I'm not exaggerating) we finally get our respective dishes: Grouper sandwich, baked eggs and 2 eggs with bacon, toast and home fries. Let's just say no one was impressed.
The only reason I will go back is because it is definitely a lovely place. I will make sure to come with more time and for lunch or drinks, probably not for brunch."

"Not many menue items for the brunch. They should have more brunch items for customers to enjoy. It is not worth making a reservation and eating at such a high-end hotel roof."

"Our best breakfast on our week long NYC stay. Excellent coffe mocha, with chocolate from the Mast brothers.
I went for the buffet, and never regretted my choice. Fantastic cereal selection. A limited, but very tasty cheese selection. An unbelievable caramel muffin (which was a perfect finish for me, a big sweet tooth). Never got to taste the yoghurt, but it looked amazing in small glass jars.
My wife had the poached eggs, and they too was very tasty and well presented."

"From the moment you walk into the Gramercy Hotel to go to the terrace you feel at ease. Every single staff member was pleasant, professional and helpful. The wait staff at the terrace was no exception, attentive and very accommodating. I was there for breakfast and ordered the poached eggs but wanted to substitute a biscuit for their jalapeno muffin and it was no problem. The food was beautifully presented and was very tasty. In my opinion I think previous comments about the food being nothing special is really about the fact that American cuisine is pretty difficult to get truly excited about without mixing in other cultural influences. This is a perfect way to treat yourself to something special in the city."

"A lovely garden room decor underpins this gracious little hotel gem. We went there for breakfast and had a lovely peaceful meal in a setting that was like a panacea for the winter blues, so fresh and leafy green. The wait staff were lovely and the food was fresh and hearty."

"I really had a disappointing experience here. The happy greeting given by the hostess was the best part of my visit. It was all downhill after that. There was no bread or other snack offered while we waited 20 minutes for our meals to be ready. I ordered the equivalent of the Chicken Waldorf Salad -- it was almost ALL celery! There is NO WAY that there was even the equivalent of a single breast of chicken in it! For $19?! And don't even get me started that this was supposed to be the large serving. When I pointed this out to the waitress (who wasn't dressed appropriately for her job in my view -- and I believe Danny Meyer would agree), she just said that she would inform the kitchen. Zero attempt was made to recover from this."

"Went for brunch with girlfriends and there couldn't be a more perfect spot. The room was sun drenched and beautiful and we had a wonderful, leisurely meal. I wish the buffet had not been so bread heavy - for the price it's a great deal, but it would have been nice to see a bigger variety and fruit! We ordered off the menu and it was good (not amazing) and had a great presentation."

"We went here on the recommendation from a friend and we were NOT disappointed! The neighborhood is very quaint (Flatiron area) and the hotel is lovely. Amazing art displayed throughout the hotel! Order the baked eggs! Yummy! They also brought us an order of their french toast because it took a little longer than normal to get our food although we didn't notice. The french toast is delicious but almost like a dessert - very sweet and rich. My 16 year old ate from the buffet which had meats, cheeses, breads and cereals - she was happy with that. The service was great and we had a nice chat with the manager and waitress. Definitely worth the trip! Prices weren't too bad but I knew ahead of time what we would be paying."

"We went for brunch and made a reservation through open table. We were seated shortly after our reserved time, as they had to clear the table. The restaurant is on the top floor of the Gramercy Park Hotel. Prices are what is expected, and in fact are not as high as other hotels in NYC. Service was attentive, food is nicely prepared, though the portions are not large. However, with the setting and location I would certainly return."

"We had a nice lunch, with good basic choices (tuna sandwich, turkey melt sandwich). We were disappointed in the lack of variety in the menu, though. The best thing - the Pickled Marys. Delicious! When they mention the view, you do expect to be looking down on the neighborhood from the 18th floor, but can actually only look up due to a tall retaining wall that surrounds the restaurant behind all of the banquettes."

"It is amazing to me that even though this restaurant was completely full, it felt incredibly empty. To me, THAT, is a sign of a great space. To go along with this amazing space is some of the best brunch food in the city! Their version of a continental breakfast is a hotel dweller's dream! This is my new place to bring out of town guests. A place that makes people go, "THIS is in NYC?" YES IT IS!"

"Charming rooftop escape. Had a great breakfast on a chilly New York morning warmed by the bright sun streaming through the surrounding windows and skylights. A pretty garden like atmosphere. Omelet was perfect, coffee excellent with continuous refills, friendly and professional staff. Like a mini vacation. Definitely look forward to many return visits."
