Since 1972, McKinnon's Louisiane has served marvelous Louisiana seafood dishes reflecting the delicate and refined cooking of New Orleans, as well as the pungent, highly seasoned dishes of the Cajun Bayou.
McKinnon's Creole and Cajun specialties have made this restaurant a local favorite, earning it a national reputation. McKinnon's dining room is elegant, intimate, and warmly inviting; the Grill Room offers a more casual dining experience.
"Crab Soup was phenomenal! The flavor was robust and got better with each spoonful.
Black pepper shrimp was good, but the actual "Black pepper" was slightly overwhelming. My wife ordered the grouper.Fish was extremely fresh and tasty, however, we did not know that it was breaded, which was a slight bummer since she is not eating fried foods and it wasn't spelled out in the description."

"When you walk into McKinnon's you will feel its warm, gracious spirit and you will be treated as a very special guest. The restaurant is comfortable and the service is outstanding. Seafood and fish are the specialties and they are done very well. They serve soft shell crabs, oysters, shrimp, crawfish and a whole flounder dish that is really a stand out. You can certainly get a great, spicy Cajun style dish here but the restaurant is not limited or defined by spicy. There is enough variety on the menu to satisfy a group with diverse tastes. The wine list is very affordable - their markup is one of the smallest I have seen in an Atlanta restaurant and they have quality labels. And there is bread pudding for dessert!"

"From the time we walked into the door until we left Aziz, the owner, was very helpful. His review of the freshest items on their menu to recommending dessert was fantastic. If you want a great Seafood dinner in Atlanta then this is the place."

"Wanted a quite place to dine with a friend from Panama that have not seen in several years. This place was excellent. The service was excellent but not intrusive. Food was excellent. If you are looking for place to escape the little brats and noisy 20 somethings, this is the place"

"My boyfriend and I compete to find restaurants with different cuisines, environments, and themes to take each other to on a date. I took him to McKinnon's Louisiane for our sixth month celebration and it was a romantic environment with excellent food. He won't like to admit it, but I definitely found the best restaurant in terms of food and service in our dinner adventures so far!"

"The service was outstanding and the menu selections were good. However, without a coupon, the prices of the entrees would have been somewhat out of sync. McKinnon's has been in business in Atlanta for many years, and that speaks well of the restaurant. There aren't many restaurants in Atlanta with that record of longevity. The traditional furnishings are reminiscent of New Orleans. One is made to feel welcome and the courtesy of the wait staff never ends."

"What an unexpected pleasure! While in Atlanta for the Final Four, my husband had a taste for Cajun and booked a table at McKinnon's. The crab soup I ordered was outstanding; spicy and full of flavor. I ordered grouper Louisiane that was tender, flaky and perfectly prepared. I have to give this a BIG thumbs up!!"

"The food and service was excellent. The waiters were attentive but not intrusive. The owner spoke to us. The prices were typical for a higher quality dining experience. We had fish, which was fresh, the calamari was tender and well spiced, and the gumbo was excellent!"

"Little bit slow since the place was slammed at about 730PM on a Friday. Normally have chosen to go mid weer. Still overall a great experience. As always the staff including the owner are great - very warm and welcoming. Food as always very tasty!"

"Restaurant recommended by a friend and it was great. Loved the bread pudding and Amberjack. I'm looking forward to trying the Halibut. Four of us enjoyed the cozy but quiet elegance of the restaurant. We all loved the roasted potatoes. We will be returning. It was an excellent meal and an excellent value as well. Service was also wonderful and the tea was real southern tea and it was absolutely delicious. Servers were friendly and helpful - all of them even the ones who were not "assigned" to our table and that was so refreshing. The owner came over and spoke to us and we enjoyed that exchange. He made us feel welcome and appreciated and that is at the top of why we will return as well."

"Walked in and was greeted by the owner who chatted with us several times during the evening. He was engaging and genuinely interested in us having a great meal. Food was coked to perfection (I had the red snapper) and the wine recommendation by Aziz (the owner) spot on.If you go to Atlanta, go to Mckinnon's Louisiane."

"We were lucky to have found McKinnon's due to a friends recommendation 5 years ago. It takes us 45 minutes or more to travel to McKinnon's and we are always happy that we did. Personal service and caring owners make you feel you are truly valued as a patron and they want you to enjoy your meal and evening while dinning with them. Freshest seafood selections, and a wide variety to choose from is the most difficult part of the experience. Wine list isn't huge but great selections available with appropriate pricing. You won't be disappointed with your choice to give them a try. With all the restaurant choices in ATL and surrounding area we still find McKinnon's one of our favorites. Best of Louisiana right here in ATL."

"We visited the restaurant for Valentine's Day dinner. The staff was very attentive and although there was a limited Valentine's Day menu, we didn't feel as though we were forced to choose something we normally wouldn't have ordered.
The gumbo was amazing and for the occasion, the women diners were given a red rose!"

"We went on Valentine and they had a selective menu, I had the Grouper with hollandaise and baked almonds. The fish was very delicately cooked but wasn't seasoned well. My wife had the pepper shrimp and the menu states it has a lot of pepper and that was no overstatement. The gumbo as a appetizer was good the menu had a given of the cheesecake and the bread pudding both were really good. The atmosphere is a very older tavern saloon type with a live band near the front of the restraunt around the bar but where we we sitting we couldn't even hear the band and the place isn't that big. Nothing that we ate was just memorable to the point that we wanted to rush back."

"Was regular patron through 1986, then moved from ATL to Boston. Staying nearby while on business trip, noticed McKinnon's was still in business. Got to try it and yes the magic was still there; friendly family place with very good food and great service. Try the fried oysters! Better than NOLA."

"We were warmly greeted by owner - very friendly. The service was great. Food was good - not great. We dine with a couple who drink. My husband and I do not. The restaurants we frequent ALWAYS split the bill for us. The server said they can't - or won't - do that. I think they work very "old school" because new technology would allow for that. Overall, it was a good experience but not worth the travel from the suburbs."

"Definitely not kid friendly or even anyone that is not at least 65. Had a reservation but because we had our preteen kids they sat us on the side restaurant claiming it was to busy in the main. Where of course the was only 1 waiter handling a large 12 person tables so of course service was non existent. Funny they had someone from the main restaurant come to wait us on us in our little hole in the corner. It was so obvious there prejudice that they sat us out of the way since there was empty tables in the main restaurant and open table was showing plenty of availability all night. So be warned reservations through open table is non-existent. So unless you white , 65 and old buckhead money expect to be treated as second class"

"We always enjoy dining at McKinnon's! The menu always offers a wide variety of dishes that are superbly prepared. Aziz, the owner and host, makes a point to know his guests/clients personally. We like to share dishes, and the serving and kitchen staffs are very cooperative.
New diners may be surprised to learn that ice cream has not been served in all of the 40+ years this restaurant has been open.
We look forward to returning soon and often.

"Good quality food, but not as flavorful as I expected. Started with the oysters Elizabeth- the oysters were delicious, but the creamed spinach was pretty bland. The bread is very fresh and tasty. I had blackened fish, the flavor was nice but the texture was a bit dry. Our server was friendly, and the manager checked in with us several times. Overall it was an enjoyable meal nd dining xperience, but nothing phenomenal stood out."
