"The Bistrot has a few new waiters . Be warned . They are not as attentive as the "old guard " . Perhaps one should be more demanding but the Bistrot has never failed before . Let's hope they learn the ropes quickly and become what is expected at this Georgetown gem ."

"I chose this restaurant based on feedback from other diners and was not disappointed. The chef Simon cooked up an amazing foie gras, served with caramelized apples for appetizer, and lamb with Peruvian purple potatoes. The service was fantastic and the wine was delicious. I highly recommend. We sat upstairs in the back room and it felt private and quiet. The downstairs dining area was open and allowed you to feel connected to the goings on outside on Wisconsin Ave."

"Bistrot Lepic is our favorite French restaurant in Washington! The food is consistently good, authentic French bistrot fare, and the ambience is lively yet romantic."

"Dinner for 3 last Friday was an outstanding experience--a very impressive first visit. We already have recommended Bistrot Lepic to friends & family. Food was only 4 stars as the escargot was not very good according to my Parisienne wife. My soup (Parmentière de moules et poireaux) and Foie gras de canard poèllé were excellent. All main courses were superb: trout, salmon and cassoulet du bistrot lepic. Desserts were exquisite: mango sorbet, crème brulée and pear tart. Wine list is superb. Wait staff service was prompt but never rushed our dining experience. The bar is well appointed with a fine list of spirits. Any place that has Delamain cognac is top shelf in our book much as the Bistrot Lepic is the epitome of fine dining in Georgetown."

"FOOD WAS OUTSTANDING AND MOST OF THE EXERIENCE AS WELL. EXCEPT THAT SERVICE WAS POOR. HAD TO WAIT NEARLY AN HOUR FROM TIME OF PLACING ORDER TO TIME OF WHEN FIRST COURSE ARRIVED. SERVICE IMPROVED AFTER THAT TIME, BUT, STILL TOOK NEARLY 15 MINUTES TO GET THE CHECK."

"The restaurant did not disappoint...I would however caution that serving dishes that appear to have been refrigarated ahead of being served is not a way to go. I will compliment the kitchen on the out of the world dessert we had!"

"We had brunch there. The food was excellent. The eggs benedict were the best we've ever had. However, our reservation was at 11 am on a Sunday, right when they open. It wasn't crowded, and our party of 2 waited over an hour for our food. We missed our tour at the National Cathedral as a result. So you will really enjoy it if you have no time table."

"Food, wine and service was outstanding. We sat in the upstairs bar area instead of the downstairs restaurant, because it looked a little stuffy. Unfortunately, the tables upstairs look very cool, but are very uncomfortable and make it nearly impossible to have a conversation with your table and eat. Tables are large squares and chairs are very low and deep. Not at all comfortable."

"I have made the reservation before I arrived in DC. Saturday morning, we woke up and after a short walk we arrived at our brunch place a bit early than our reservation. We did not know that it was opening exactly at 11:00am so we walked around up and down on the same street until seated. We were greeted nicely and treated very well. Since we were the first clients the atmosphere was very quiet in fact with a very quiet classical music. I have ordered Oeuf a la truffe noire and it was a great egg dish. We were very happy with the bread basket we ordered and they also offered complimentary sparkling wine for us.Overall we had a good brunch and the money we paid was worth it. Strongly recommended."

"The food was unremarkable for two of us, dull salad. One person had the lamb and loved it but the rest of the lunch was disappointing. It is a great, busy bistro atmosphere, though, and the food wasn't rushed. I want to love it but I'm not there, yet."

"We had wonderful service. Our entrees were delicious (soft-shell crabs, salmon in a potato crust, and a veal chop). Desserts were special (warm, caramel-apple tart and chocolate mousse). We were there for three hours, and no one rushed us. Our waiter came around to see if we needed anything, but he was unobtrusive. It was a wonderful experience! We'll go back."

"Bistrot Lepic & Wine Bar was the perfect place to take my parents when they were visiting town. It was quiet, so we could hear each other speak, the service was friendly, informative and beautifully timed, and the food was impeccable. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a lovely night out."

"I discovered Bistrot Lepic years ago cross referencing Washingtonian and the Zagat Guide. I have never been disappointed. Where else in D.C. can you regularly sup on veal cheeks and cassoulet? The staff is ever friendly, the wine list superb, and you can run into Donald Rumsfeld there being normal. What is there not to like?"

"We hadn't been to Lepic for several years, back at the height of its popularity. It has been redecorated (freshened up) since then; accoustical panels float tastefully in the ceiling to reduce noise; and the atmosphere is less frenetic.
Our waitress was a pro - she recommended an outstanding wine from within our price range. Everyone's food was terrific. It was a Saturday night, yet when it was apparent that the four of us were very engaged in conversation, we were not pushed to order. Food and wine prices were in line with their quality and the level of service and ambiance.
We look forward to returning soon."

"We always like to have a meal here when we find ourselves in DC. The food is usually very good, the wine list has a good selection of nice wines, and the service is professional and knowledgeable, especially with regard to their wine list. The only aspect that was a bit off-putting was that they declined to seat us, or any other groups, in the table for 4 in the window area (nice, bright seating with a great street view). They indicated that the table was 'reserved,' yet no one sat there through the lunch seating!"

"Our second dinner in a month, and again very enjoyable. However we were seated at a table in the front window near the door and the opening and closing of the front door with cold air was a problem even with a space heater. Since this looks like an unavoidable problem we will request another table in the future. We very much enjoy the food and very friendly and prompt service."

"After many memorable evenings since my first visit in 1995, I'm sad to say Bistrot Lepic has slipped from a great dining experience to just so so. Service is still fine but the food is only fair. Mushroom soup starter was lukewarm, watery and uninteresting. Rack of lamb was good and the wine recommended to go with it was a good pairing. My friends trout was left half eaten on their plates as was my wife's calf's liver.
Another unfortunate aspect of the meal was the restaurant's decision to substitute battery powered candles for the real thing."

"Ask to sit up in the wine bar when you make your reservation. The main dining room is cramp and stuffy. I forgot this advice since it was 2 years between visits but luckily our waiter downstairs was able to check with the wine bar and move us up there. The table we were sat at in the main dining room was one of those two-tops directly in between two other two-tops. It would have been like sitting a table for six sandwiched in between four people we didn't know."

"Bistrot Lepic is perfect. It reminded me of dining in France in that all of the food was very well prepared snd there was attention to the importance of a well prepared and well served meal without preciousness, self/consciousness or over fussiness. This means that one can focus on the experience of being with one's companions and having a very civilized and thoughtful meal. The menu was appropriately diverse with both traditional standards (escargots, salads verte, ile flottante) and newer items ( shrimp with forbidden rice and a light Parmesan sauce which our 17 year old ordered and enjoyed). There were delicious wines by the glass do that each diner in our small group (but not the 17 yr old) was able to have an appropriate wine. Great!"

"Came here for Restaurant Week lunch. Great deal, excellent food. I went with the escargots risotto starter and cassoulet for my main (light lunch, right?!) The bottle of wine we selected wasn't available, so our waiter pointed us towards an excellent (and affordable) bottle from the Languedoc.
The place is small and doesn't try to be trendy. It's more an old-school, delicious neighborhood restaurant.
My Parisian companion was equally impressed.
We'll definitely be back!"

"Restaurant week menu was delicious. The staff were knowledgeable about the menu and wines, the food came quickly and well presented, and there was a live jazz band playing that was quiet enough for you to still enjoy conversation--a very delicate balance to strike. The mushroom risotto was rich and flavorful, and the bouef medallions were great. I actually sent one back because it was a little undercooked, and within minutes received an entirely new plate. Wine list is also amazing. Nice for dates."

"The wait person badgered us until we ordered. It was an early dinner reservation on a Tuesday and the dining room wasn't filled even when we left. So while perhaps they anticipated more people because of Restaurant week, that's no reason to hustle early diners through their meal."

"Relatives from out of town were visiting and we wanted to impress them so we came to Bistrot Lepic and they were definitely impressed! 4 different appetizers, 4 different entrees and 3 desserts and each was fantastic. The cassoulet rivaled that which we had in Carcasson , France years ago. Our server was very attentive and friendly and we all left thoroughly happy and eager to come back.
We were there during Restaurant Week and their special was truly a fantastic deal."

"They very generously offer their regular menu for Restaurant Week. A very good onion tart, bread, and choc. mousse. The potato-crusted salmon, while a bit too thick crust, was delicious. The persimmon tart was flavorless, lemon tart ok."

"Love the classical French dishes they serve. Had the escargots and veal kidneys - two items rarely seen in restaurants these days. Love everything about the food. Unfortunately, the tables in the restaurant are too close together. When you sit next to a bunch of ladies at lunch and can hear their entire conversations, you want to get out of there ASAP."
