Breathing new life into a hundred year old brownstone in the West Village, Bobo hums with the excited din of a dinner party. Bobo is a clubhouse for spirited grown-ups to enjoy soulful seasonal French food in a fantasy townhouse setting that marries European elegance and romance with New York’s downtown energy. Chef Cedric Tovar’s (Daniel, Peacock Alley, Town) menus offer a contemporary take on seasonal French classics that celebrate our region’s best ingredients, from same-day fish and shellfish from the shores of Long Island, to heritage duck and heirloom produce from the Hudson Valley.
Bobo is open for dinner nightly, happy hour, and brunch on the weekends. The bar serves seasonal cocktails and sustainably produced wines from family-owned vineyards. The restaurant was designed by Dekar and spans several floors of our elegant and funky house, offering a range of environments, including a garden, for a range of occasions.
"The restaurant is nice but the service was not very good. Our waiter had an attitude which is never good thing because it tarnishes the food and am iance experience. Our maitre Di could not give us fraught answer about dinning in the patio."

"We went to Bobo on Mother's Day. A few days before, I went on their website and saw that they will have a price fixe brunch for that day for $35. At the restaurant on Mother's Day, the price fixe was for $45. I don't know why but I did not say anything at that time. In retrospect, I should have made a comment because to this day, it annoys me thinking about it. The food was ok nothing exceptional ."

"Great restaurant. Improving all the time. Works for many ages and occasions. The bar downstairs is fun and action packed allowing the dining room upstairs to stay calm and romantic. Great combination. Really good food"

"My partner and I are out of towners and discovered Bobo's last August while we were in town for the International Gift Show. We were back again this week and Bobo's was at the top of our list of places to have dinner. In fact we ate there the first night we got in town. We were again very pleased. Our part of the country has nothing that can compare."

"Great restaurant for a romantic, special occasion dinner. The bars downstairs and upstairs were lively. The dark main dining room, with old fashioned photos on the wall, fireplace and eclectic chandeliers, was akin to a den in old great mansion. Hostess Jennifer dimmed the lights at our corner, and our server, Galeel was a gem, and made it a truly exceptional night. By the way, I never write reviews, but my excelent night at Bobo compelled me."

"Went on a Saturday night, so I understand it's not the perfect night to get good food and good service, and the crowds are loud and annoying, but the service was non existant and the $32 Steak au Poivre Vert can be better at other places for $18. The decor is cute, and it does feel like a real neighborhood place. I'll give it another shot on a quieter night."

"Bobo is popular and I can see why... We had a reservation but weren't seated for 30 mins due to another party at our table. However, we received a few compliments for the inconvenience and the wait staff were lovely to us so I'll def be back!"

"Ambiance was absolutely great. Cute brownstone in the WV converted into a great dining experience. The food itself met expectations but was not mind-blowing. Regardless I would definitely recommend it highly."

"The escargot pastry appetizer was fantastic. Duck two ways was great. Scallops were ok (the risotto wasn't bad, but not amazing). In the fall/winter, try the "Pineapple is not a winter fruit" cocktail. I don't know if it's good or not, but I really wanted to try it. :/ Just an appetizer and entree filled us up like crazy."

"I have been to BoBo twice now and it was a wonderful experience both times. The food was excellent I was extremely impressed that the hostess and owner actually remembered me and sat my party at the same table with the same waiter which we had enjoyed the first time. That is a rare treat in a NY restauarnt."

"It was our first time at Bobo where we had brunch on Easter Sunday. We loved the funky decor and they had a lovely garden for dining even though we chose to eat inside. The special Easter brunch menu had two traditional offerings of ham and lamb and we all enjoyed our entrees and the dessert was fabulous! While the restaurant was packed the waiter was very attentive and made sure our beverages were refilled and plates were cleared timely but not rushed. It did become a bit on the noisy side for us (we're middle aged) towards the end of our time as two large parties of young people were seated but you couldn't help share their excited joy of all being out together with their friends to celebrate the day. Many thanks for a lovely time!"

"A speakeasy entry vibe segued to Parisian-in-NY chic and upstairs the sepia-toned family pics and book-laden shelves offered cosiness without being too-familiar. Happy staff, chilled champagne and Sinatra's crooning put our group in relaxion mode. Chef Tovar's spicy Bruschetta and cilantro oysters hinted at an adventurousness to come. His (pork) cheeks made our tummies smile as did his lamb with couscous and the Steak au Poivre. True naughtiness came via the "Mars" bar dessert and the lemon-pie-in-a-glass topped with broken meringue - inspired and none-too-sweet. Our French guests loved the Nutella concoction and took photos to make their kids jealous! Best of all, the check belied the genuine high quality of food and service. More, please!"

"An absolutely magical restaurant. Romantic, sexy, food was incredible, wine was perfect. Easily one of the BEST French restaurants in Manhattan. It did get a little loud later in the evening as the room filled up. I only wish people could talk less loud at a table and do their shouting in the bar."

"Our second visit to Bobo was on a quiet Sunday night, after a theatre outing nearby. The staff was welcoming, friendly and efficient, the food delicious. The menu had lots of appealing offerings, including the well priced "Tour de France" Sunday special. We chose another special featuring lobster, perfectly cooked and accompanied by mushrooms and spinach - the kitchen was flexible in substituting the latter for broccoli rate, much appreciated. And how can I miss mentioning the delicious bourbon cocktail with basil, lime and elderflower? Desserts were creative and delicious too. I loved my deconstructed lemon meringue pie, served in verrine and topped with a floating layer of caramelied sugar. We're looking forward to going back."

"Dessert list was disappointing, with the best that we could pick being the chocolate chip cookies. Cookies for dessert at a classy french restaurant? Comeon! My duck dish and the escargot was great. THe bobo salad seemed overrated. Waiter was nice got occasionally got cheeky but his service was alright. Staff overall was nice. Bobo was romantic and comfy / pretty, but will be looking at bistros and other french establishments for good food / especially good dessert."

"Great brunch....friendly service....a little confusing when you walk in and no one is at the front desk..the dinning room is upstairs...lovely dinning room with antique tables and chandeliers...like dinning in someones home in the late 1800's..there is a suprise sunroom (where we sat) gives the illusion that your outside on a sunny spring day (if its a sunny day of course) although quite noisy!"

"Noise level was high at brunch and there seem to be too many tables to fit comfortably in the room. A table for two was given to our party of three, whereas usually a four-top is used for both 3 and 4 people. Our waiter, who was excellent at first, mysteriously disappeared after we ate our main dishes and awaited dessert offerings."
