"We dined at the Smithville Inn on Mayfest. We had made reservations in advance, which was a very good idea, as the restaurant, and Smithville in general, was quite crowded. I had my children with me, and I was impressed that they had quite a few children's selections available. While the lunch menu was limited, our food was good. I thoroughly enjoyed the meatloaf, while my mom had the chicken pot pie, which, although HUGE in size, she described as "bland". The friend tomatoes as an appetizer were just yummy. Our dessert was good, as well. I have dined at the Smithville Inn before and always enjoy our experience. This was a bit different just due to the crowds and the higher than normal noise level. Still, a great dining experience."

"Had lunch this time, during annual craft fair. Menu at that time is more limited, due to the event and crowds, but still had some nice choices. Have eaten there many times. Excellent Sunday brunch, and nice dinner menu. Rating based on all dining experiences. Can't comment on lunch menu, as we usually go there for dinner. Would highly recommend."

"I fear the venerable Inn is heading in the direction of the late Zaberer's. Two attempts at a medium prime rib entreee were unsatisfactory, as it was overcooked, dry and not hot, and the baked potato was bad requiring a replacement. Sadly, companion's Hanger steak was equally dried out and the accompanying broccoli was burned, This meal was a major disappointment and management did not seem too interested in remedying the situation. For a Friday evening at 8:15, there were about four tables occupied in the main dining room. I felt bad for the piano player as he was drowned out by the loud rock and hip-hop music emanating from a wedding reception being held in an adjoining room, ruining a formerly serene and beautiful dining setting."

"Smithville was a great choice for an post-graduation dinner from Stockton College. We arrived early enough to have a drink at the bar. After being seated (8 of us) we were not rushed. My only negative is that the luncheon menu was limited. I had wanted to get a take-out meal for my mother who could not attend, and there was nothing she would have liked. But everyone else had a good meal. I loved my green beans, and usually vegetables out are not particularly good."

"We went during AC Restaurant Week for lunch. Disappointing menu - 3 sandwiches and 1 salad offered as entrees. My husband had the Pork Milanese Ciabatta and I had the Stuffed Portabella & Spinach Salad. The salad was the size of an appetizer and the pork sandwich was more bread than pork. There was no special sauce served w/the sandwich and a bottle of ketchup was plopped on the table. If we wanted casual dining and "bar type food" and service we would have dined elsewhere. We had to ask 2x for coffee with our cheescake dessert, which was bland and dry. The coffee was lukewarm, not hot. When I asked for a 2nd cup of coffee, my cup was filled half-way and a refill was not offered to my husband and we had to ask for water refills."

"Very nice romantic place with a piano player and a fire place. I had the crab cakes my husband had the prime rib.the food could have been better and the dnner salads need improvement .i thought for the price it should have been better. The wine list was terrific and the service was great.will definitely go back,it's the only restaurant left in our area that's so romantic."

"We went on Valentine's Day. View was nice- requested a window/lake view and got it. Service was very slow- a lot of people walking around, but not a lot of attention to the customers. One couple even got up and left after waiting 20 minutes to receive menus. Food was fair- a little cold when it arrived- I had to send it back for further cooking. Nice place- pricey. I don't think I'd go back."

"Everything was very good except for one entree. My wife ordered primr rib which was very tough. It was replaced by another prime rib which was just as tough. The reataurant did not charge for this entree, but our dinner was ruined because of it."

"My husband and I went on Valentine's Day. We ordered from menu given to us; it did not indicate that a salad came with the dinner, so we ordered from the salad menu at an extra charge. After finishing dinner, we overheard a waiter at the next table informing guests that a salad came with the dinner and gave them a variety of options and choices. We were disappointed with our waitress!"
