Bascom's Chop House
When the original Bascom came to Florida at the turn of the last century to help Henry Flagler build the Key West Railroad, he brought with him his love for thick cut chops and juicy steaks. During his travels he also discovered the bounties of fresh native Florida seafood.
We have brought all of his favorites together in a true American Chop House that pays tribute to Bascom's hearty appetite and a passion for great steaks, chops and fresh seafood.
In his honor, we have made Bascom's Chop House a comfortable, yet elegant, American restaurant. We are proud to offer a superbly crafted wine list and American Mid-Western beef, aged to our own exacting specifications to ensure the most tender and flavorful steaks served anywhere at any price. And, true to our Bascom's Chop House name, we also offer hand-cut veal, pork and lamb chops all prepared to perfection, as well as a great selection of native seafood delivered fresh daily.

"Although the location is nothing to write home about, the food and service was great! We happened to go on Mothers Day, and there was a spectacular buffet. You could also chose from their menu, but we opted for the buffet. I wasn't too pleased that the automatic 20% tip (for parties of 6 or more) was added on to our bill for a buffet. But other than that, no complaints. I would recommend Bascoms for a special occasion."

"although I prefer table seating over a booth for a romantic meal, I certainly appreciated the booth seating. It provided a more and semi private setting for my girlfriend and I. Also I ordered flowers through open table were on table Before we arrived. On Mothers day they served a buffet so we had a variety of foods to sample and everything was delicious bbutthe prime rib was so tender you could cut it with a butter knife. service was also magnificent."

"We went to celebrate my husband's birthday. Our reservation time was honored. We enjoyed the food. The hot food was hot and the cold was cold. Prime rib was juicy and delicious. And served as ordered. The waiter was very attentive, refilling water and wine glasses without being asked. We found an excellent Malbec on the wine list which we enjoyed. It was a very pleasant experince and I will recommend it to friends."

"Nice. Service was exceptional. Clean appearance for the age. Seated next to an opening to a large party that got rather noisy, so look out for that if you want an intimate space. Probably can accomodate if I had asked. Food was great. Porterhouse was perfect as was my wife's grouper. Nice to see the anchovies on the Caesar salad. Might have had dessert but no place to put it. Next time. My new favorite place."

"Very disappointed on a special occasion. Asked for a quiet booth, and several where open. We were seated next to the kitchen entry. Server got an attitude when we asked for another location. Service was poor at best, and and a second server even apologized. The food was not the quality we paid for.
We live on Clearwater Beach, and I work in Tampa. I drive by the facility everyday, and we are new to the area.

"I am a frequent diner at Bascoms for both Lunch & Dinner. This is the first time that I tried an Easter Buffet Brunch at Bascoms. What a disappointment! The food was mostly poor...dry Chicken "Marsala", Tough Pork Chops, mushy tasteless Salmon...I could go on and on.....the only favorable food was the fresh fruit & desserts. I was embarrassed for our party of six... a $250 tab for Dennys like food!

"The food was excellent and the service good but non-communicative. We noticed other tables with different waitstaff being shown desserts on the e-menu but ours had been removed. Apparently there had been a number of reservations made for the same time as our party and we were asked to wait, then seated and then asked to move which was not impressive. My guests were first timers at that restaurant, from out of state, and it was embarrassing."

"We had reservations for 7:00 pm on a Saturday and were seated by 7:20, ( not to bad). Unfortunately we didn't see our waiter for another 15 minutes and then only to tell us what the specials for appetizers were. When he returned (another 15 minutes later) he took our drink order and our appetizer order,(his recommendation), and left even though we were ready to order our meal at that time. We found our waiter to be polite, energetic, but overwhelmed to his task. The appetizer was exactly as he said it would not be, bland and chewy. It was removed from the bill later. I ordered the prime rib, seared and 1 half hour later it came, not seared. My wife's steak actually saved the meal, but at their premium pricing we were underwhelmed."

"Downhill decline for Bascom's. Used to love this place and we keep trying to give it a shot but not anymore. Waitress greeted us by telling us she was too busy to wait on us because she had "too many tables". Wine came after salads which I guess we were lucky to get. Steaks were flavorless!!!!!!!! NY strip was tough. Questioned whether it was a "sizzler" because it was a cheap cut of meat. Was also seated in front of the VIP room which meant that you had people carrying on loudly interrupting your meal.Don't waste your time."

"Our first time there. The serving staff was very nice and efficient. The food is standard fare for a Steakhouse. I liked the idea that you can make your shrimp cocktail any size you like, since the price is by the piece. The Onion Soup was "serviceable." The steaks were tender and cooked properly, though the onion rings were cold by the time we got them. Their steak fries are to die for. Perfectly cooked inside and out. The reason for the cold food is that they have runners that drop the food off near the tables. Someone else then serves the food (not our server). This really slows down the delivery of the food and causes it to sit near the tables and become cold. They should really re-think this delivery method."

"March 3rd, 2013- 16 oz N.Y.Strips had 50% fat and were not tender or juicy. Manager was called to table and suggested the cow "did not get enough exercise" and made no other concession's. After dinner the manager was called to us again and blamed it on his waiter's lack of proper communication. For ten dollars more per steak go elsewhere and enjoy your evening or spend less and go to Outback. This birthday was ruined by Bascom's lack of customer service skills."

"I was kind of disappointed with the overall experience. The food was very good,but the service was very slow. For the price and overall,not that great. I expected more and did not get it. That was a shame. Don't think we'll give it a second try. We'll stick to our regular steak house."

"Bascom's is a great place for a special occasion or the occasional splurge. The steaks were all correctly prepared, the sides were excellent and our server was ahead of our needs, but not hovering. I would like to see the pepper mill someplace other than right next to my table. The constant traffic from the servers in search of pepper was annoying."
