When the original Bascom came to Florida at the turn of the last century to help Henry Flagler build the Key West Railroad, he brought with him his love for thick cut chops and juicy steaks. During his travels he also discovered the bounties of fresh native Florida seafood. We have brought all of his favorites together in a true American Chop House that pays tribute to Bascom's hearty appetite and a passion for great steaks, chops and fresh seafood. In his honor, we have made Bascom's Chop House a comfortable, yet elegant, American restaurant. We are proud to offer a superbly crafted wine list and American Mid-Western beef, aged to our own exacting specifications to ensure the most tender and flavorful steaks served anywhere at any price. And, true to our Bascom's Chop House name, we also offer hand-cut veal, pork and lamb chops all prepared to perfection, as well as a great selection of native seafood delivered fresh daily.

"The escargot were excellent the way the chef prepared it in a puff pastry. Never had it that way before. I loved the sauce and the escargot were tender not tough. We loved the bread and the salad was the norm for a good restaurant. My husband had the wedge salad which he said was nice and crunchy and the blue cheese dressing was delicious.
My husband had the stuffed salmon with lump crab meat. He asked the server to tell the chef that it was the best salmon he had ever tasted. My prime rib was okay. It was not medium rare but the potatoe and mushrooms were very good. The desserts were delicious. I had a strawberry cheesecake and my husband enjoyed the key lime pie. Overall, it was a nice experience but, the server was very slow."

"Had Mr. B's grouper. Fish was fresh, hot, moist and delicious. The sauce did not detract from nor cover up the flavor of the fish but enhanced it. The accompanying broccoli were crisp-tender but cold and the rice pilaf only so so and just barely warm. My wife had the queen cut(12oz) prime rib. It was mostly fat. There was barely 3 to 4 ounces of edible meat. The meat was flavorful but not as tender as most prime rib we've had. I would go back for the fish but would probably stay away from the prime rib."

"This was our 1st visit to Bascom's. A very nice restaurant but we were a little surprised to see people walk in in jeans and sweatshirts. My husband had a wonderful bone-in Ribeye Steak that was very flavorful. I, however, had the Grouper with capers and white wine and was disappointed. It had no color (eye appeal) and very little flavor. The broccoli and very al dente - I would have liked it cooked a little more."

"Molly was our Server, she was excellent. Made good suggestions, I was a bit disappointed in my prime rib, it was hard to cut and not as tender as usually. I have never had that problem before with prime rib. The filet was outstanding. We will return."

"We went for Valentine's Day - we'd never been there and had wanted to. The food was SO GOOD. Really, very delicious - we ordered an appetizer, salad and an entree. It's just that the whole staff seemed so overwhelmed (7:00PM). We made our reservation through open table, checked in with the Maitre'd, and she just had a blank look on her face and said it would be 20 minutes. My husband checked in with her twice and we were seated after one hour. Not that big a deal - we were enjoying the bar and watching the Olympics. Then the waitress just wanted to rush us out! Never offered any wine or dessert, made us feel bad for her."

"I loved the fish tank! We were the first to sit in the waiters section and we were the last to be waited on. Oyster were nothing to write home about, Escargot were EXCELLENT! My husband got chicken marsala and it wasnt very good. I got the filet and it was good but way over priced and you got NOTHING with it, just a piece of meat for like $30!! We would not go back, WAY OVER PRICED!"

"Great for a date night or special occasion. It's very pricey though unless you go with the specials. We had prime rib with salads and a HUGE baked potato. Amazing, really amazing. Served with fresh horseradish on the side. Home made salad dressings. Portions were so large we took half home. Perfect service. It's not very romantic only because the tables are not very private and definitely not a restaurant to take children to. Great wine list and the french onion soup was some of the best we have ever had. I would go again."

"The service was wonderful and very attentive. My husband said that his prime beef was the best that he's ever tasted, and my meal was delicious. We brought a gentleman who I've known since first grade and I graduated with him in 1967 in Walled Lake, Michigan. He still lives in Michigan and was in Florida for a few days. We recently reunited due to facebook. It was a very special occasion and spending an evening at Bascom's restaurant made it a very enjoyable evening eating a very tasty mealI would definitely contact OpenTable.com to plan another special event, or stop by for a tasty lunch.P.S. I enjoyed my little boxed food for lunch the following day."

"We had a wonderful waitress but she had too many tables and could not function properly.
The bar was quite loud. Worth the noise though, the food was great.
Try the Veal chop.
