This chic, modern venue, centrally-located within the Denver Center for Performing Arts, is a popular gathering place for theater attendees and downtown diners alike. Serving dinner on performance days, as well as brunch prior to weekend matinées, it is perhaps most popular for a quick intermission cocktail. Guests are even allowed to carry a glass of wine back to the lobby of their theatres!

"We have eaten at the Limelight many times and I have to say this was the worst ever. While they can run hot and cold, they are convenient to the theaters which is why we go there. We usually have pretty good service but this time it was terrible. I never did get my wine at all. The food was okay, but it is hard to screw up a good filet. Our main course was so late in coming to the table we had to rush to get done in time. Not sure I'll be going back. Stick to Prego or Kevins at the opera!"

"We had a 6:30 reservation for a 7:30 show at the Buell, probably 6-6:15 would be better. Had to rush a bit at the end, seated and ordered quickly (seated right away, ordered by 6:40) but food didn't arrive until 7:15. Thought that was a little long, but many people there preshow so kitchen may have been overwhelmed. Food was very good, wife had scallops, I had the roast half chicken, both piping hot and delicious. Bill for saled (we split a salad) 2 entrees, 1 glass of wine and 1 soft drink was $72. A bit pricey for what you get, but you can't beat the convenience, 20 feet from the door of the theatre."

"The superb table service and good food were not consistent with the seating offered. I made a reservation for a party of six, and arranged early arrival so not to be rushed before a performance at the Stage Theater. We arrived at 4:45 to a completely empty restaurant, and were seated against the wall in the noisiest part of the space near a remarkably annoying squeeking kitchen door. I understand the logic of space utilization from the manager's (or hostess') perspective, but we were met without a semblance of care and parked in a lousy space, jammed up against the wall. Our server was so professional and helpful, in contrast, and each of our varied dishes was well-prepared and brought quickly from the kitchen."

"My favorite place to dine before the play or opera. Great for people-watching as theater-goers stream past the full-length windows. Excellent crab cake, but no calimari available. The filet with the bearnaise is to-die-for good; I order mine medium so it comes out medium rare. Their highballs are excellent but I prefer to drink the prosecco. Very pricey but worth it for a fine dining experience."

"If you have tickets to a play this is perfectly located right in the Performing Arts Complex. You can enjoy your meal up to minutes before the show; the theater is literally a few yards away. And coupled with the fact that the food and service are wonderful makes it a pre-show must in my book."

"I had not eaten in the restaurant in the Performing Arts Complex in years, and I was pleasantly surprised to have such fantastic food at reasonable prices. I had the mac and cheese, a side item which was reasonably portioned and very good, creamy and balanced. The tomato soup with goat cheese croutons was excellent, and I would go back again just for that. I had a bite of the crab cakes as well, and even though I don't normally get crab cakes these were delicate and delicious. The bread pudding for dessert was also great. The location is what sells it, and of course the staff is very attentive to your show time, but the food makes it worth visiting again."

"My wife and I took our son to see Mary Poppins at the Buelle Theatre. My son had not been to a show before or out to a fine dining restaurant. It was a special night for him and the restaurant was excellent. The wait staff was friendly and accommodating to our son."

"The Limelight is located in the Denver Center theater complex so it is perfect for lunch or dinner before plays. The food is good but nothing to rave about. I had their corn beef sliders which were the special of the day, their were tasty but difficult to bite through. We have eaten here before because of the proximity of the theaters and will probably do so again."

"With season tickets to the DCPA Theater program, we have visited the Limelight for every show for years. We always sit at a window, people watching the theater crowds. Two visits ago, this couldn't be accomodated, so we sat elsewhere, and the manager noted our account for the next reservation. On Saturday evening, the table was available, but the manager (a different person) insisted we sit at a two person table up against the emergency exit. When we asked why we, we were told that other patrons visit the restaurant more frequently. We said we'd been there at least 20 time, and she rudely said, well others have been here 30 times, and that it was our fault for not calling. Kevin Taylor, this was shockingly rude service."

"We always like going to Limelight because of the proximity to the theater. Our serve person was ok, but not really paying attention, sort of mediocre. We ordered mussels as one of our appetizers, and it took until the first appetizer came for them to realize that "the chef didn't like the mussels" and we should pick something else. It would have been a nice touch for them to have comped our second appetizer. The cappucinos were definitely delicious! They didn't bother to notice that it was Barry's birthday(noted on the reservation), so there was no acknowledgement. Overall, the food was fine but the service disappointed."

"We had driven all the way from Aspen, and were dining before seeing a musical at the Buell Theatre, as were most of the other patrons. When I was nervous about the service taking too long, the waitress assured me that we would have plenty of time before curtain, and we did! "This restaurant is mainly for people going to the theater, but we didn't know that when we made the reservation. At 7:30, when the show started at DCPA, the entire restaurant emptied out! It was crazy! We were the only ones there, and we enjoyed every minute of it. Tell you friends, this is a great time to go to dinner there!"

"The restaurant was very busy on the Sunday (03/030, at 12:30 when my companion and I were there. The servers appeared to be extremely busy and the staffing, we felt, was inadequate. My companion ordered the large Cobb salad; she was served a small, wilted salad. with brown avocado slices. She was afraid to order something else for fear that it would take too long and we would be late for the performance we were to attend.
I have eaten lunch on Saturdays at the Limelight before and never had a similar experience as we did on 03/03. I would like to mention that your hot tea service is not good- you charge $4 for it- it is served in a tall, glass mug- hot water with a tea bag on the side- no saucer, no tea spoon, no refills."

"We usually have a great experience here but this time our table was in a very bad area. The service was very slow and it just wasn't the same experience we've had in the past. The food is always very good but the timeliness of the service was very slow. We arrived at 540 pm and barely made our 730 show. Maybe it was just an off day so we will give it another try. Usually the staff is very prompt so we can understand if they have an off day."

"Not worth the time or price! Food prices expensive but similar to other nearby restaurants. However, portions were meager at best (and we are not big eaters). Food was fair but much better fare can be had at nearby restaurants. Also a bit disconcerting to sit on plastic chairs when you are paying $25-$30 an entree. Don't be seduced with its close proximity to the theaters and symphony hall. There are much better restaurants to be found on Larimer Square and surrounding streets."

"The food was pricey and small portions. However it is good to go there on a cold night then go to a play. Only park once. The thing that aggravated the men with us (3 men-3women) was that the tip was on the bill,extremely smaller then anything else, and the guys added a tip also. Waitress never told us gratuity was added for 6 people. One of the guys realized it after we had charged our dinners. We had to scratch out the tip. It left a very bad feeling about this restaurant with everyone."

"This was our first time eating at Limelight, and most likely our last. It took at least half an hour after ordering before our meal was brought out. Though I ordered my steak medium, the one I was served was mostly brown and dry throughout. When I flagged down the server to indicate that the steak was overdone (she hadn't come back after we were served to see how our meals turned out…) she said that my steak was done to what is considered “medium”. When I still disagreed she offered to have the steak re-done, but at that point I didn’t have another half-hour to wait. During this time, we were never offered a second glass of wine, a dessert menu, or even refills of our water glasses."
