"We got a great cook this night. The steaks were done just right. The service was attentive and the waiter took time to answer some questions on how the blackened mussels were done and about the 2nd floor (partys and banquets). On this Saturday night a jazz combo started playing about 7 pm."

"We were hesitant to go here after reading some negative reviews online, but the food was good and my wife enjoyed the live music (although some may find it quite loud).
The only thing I did not like was eating on a paper sheet covering the table cloth (which you may not be able to see in pictures). After paying $30 for a single entree and a three digits total for two, I'd like to enjoy my dinner on a table cloth."

"We have brought people here for special occasions, an 80th birthday, after our daughter's wedding the next day with the french relatives and then this event. The food is delicious....they get their beef and cure it and make their cuts themselves. Something seems to have changed, in the past Friday and Saturday had live music...fun place by the bar with couches, that wasn't happening. There was no Frank Sinatra music like in the past when no band is available. We were there from740-10 pm. Food is always delicious!"

"I can't say enough good things about the unbelievable roasted mussels. They are outstanding -- roasted to perfection and seasoned just right. They are served in a sizzling cast iron roasting pan set into a clever metal serving gizmo with a handy bowl underneath to discard the empty shells. A delicious arugala and watercress salad was the perfect accompaniment. And speaking of accompaniments, the lounge band that was there on the night we visited (we heard they're there Mon-Wed nights from 6:30 or 7 on) was a treat. The female vocalist has a gorgeous voice and a great repertoire of just right music! This was our first visit to Timpano and we look forward to many happy returns!"

"The food for the most part was prepared well. The portions are another issue. $25 for Pan seared scallops = 3 medium/small scallops over 3 mounds of polenta and 3 asparagus spears was ridiculous. $14 for deconstructed bruchetta also over-priced. Calamari good though a bit greasy and didn't come with enough sauce. Marsala dish was a bit more generous. Dessert portions were good to generous. Tiramisu was enough for 3 - not the best - very heavy. Creme brulee was very good. Drinks were also very good. Our waiter had a thick accent and spoke very fast but service was good to ok."

"We have been loyal patrons to Timpano for many years. But I have to say I was extremely dissapointed with my experaince on Easter. First, I should have check the price of the brunch - it was rediculous @ $34.95. We looked at what was offered and everyone in our party agreed that the offerings were not worth the price. THen we were going to order off the menu. We all decided on what we were going to have when the waiter came and took the menus away only to give us a menu with prices that were considerably higher (dinner menu) which also excluded some of the choices that were going to be ordered. Once we decided, it took approx 30-45 minutes for our meal - and the waiter never came to check on us NOT ONE TIME. He was not attentive."

"We continue to love Timpano Chophouse because it never disappoints. The service was impeccable and I recommend asking for John. Everyone enjoyed the flatbread appetizer and ciabatta rolls so much that it was tough not to fill up before our entrees arrived. Everyone in our party of 5 ordered a different dish, which was nice b/c everyone enjoyed their meal. I had one of the best spinach side dishes ever and my bone-in rib eye steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare. So delicious! If you're OK with crowded, lively dining rooms and live jazzy music, you'll enjoy your experience at Timpano!"

"Not the greatest restaurant experience we have had. First our main course came out dry and over cooked. The server tried to make excuses that they changed the way they cooked the eggplant rolitini.. When we pressed further, she brought it back to the kitchen and the chef personally made new dishes. Sure enough it came out moist and with plenty of sauce.
Then we ordered the vanilla ice cream that came as dessert with my son's kids meal. The ice cream came out soft and liquid. When my wife raised this to the server, she started to tell us it was a brand new container that just came out of the freezer. We told her that if that was the case, then thy might have some freezer issues. We then asked for the manager to tell him about the problem"

"Our party of 3 enjoyed the ambiance and well-prepared cuisine at Timpano. While the wait staff was a bit stretched on this Sunday evening (resulting in a redirection of attention to later-arriving, larger parties), the staff was pleasant and helpful to the extent they were able. The fresh pasta entrees were excellent, and the chicken Marsala very good (and generous in quantity). Both the house Italian red and the Pinot Grigio, which we had, by the glass, had considerable character, and were fairly priced for the quality. We will continue to come back to Timpano for their very pleasant atmosphere and food."

"I'd been to Timpano many times before and it was not nearly as good as it used to be. They we out of several wines, when the cabernet we selected came out was so warm we had to put it on ice for a little while, the food was over-spiced, filet over cooked. Even the mussels were just okay. The polenta was the table favorite and outstanding -what I'd expected from three rest of the fare. Certainly not worth the price. I won't be going back."

"We went to celebrate my sisters bachellorette party and we had a good time, the food was excellent, the service was excellent. we sat close to the bar so we could listen to the music. it was great!
It was a little overpriced and some of the meals don't come with sides so you have to spend more if you want to order sides. Great for special occasions but too expensive for an everyday experience."

"I had looked forward to our Valentine's dinner at Timpano's because it is one of my favorite Rockville restaurants. But it was a big disappointment. They apparently were way overbooked: when we arrived (right on time) there was a long queue at the door and we were told we would have to wait 20 minutes. After a long wait, we were led to a table RIGHT NEXT to the kitchen -- which is open to the dining area. I had requested a booth, since my spouse is hard of hearing AND i had laryngitis that night. But after such a long wait and seeing the long line at the door, we did not want to refuse the table. So we spent the night shouting at each other over the din of clanging pots and screaming cooks. Also, it was really hot next to the stoves/ovens."

"We had a reservation for 8:45pm. When we showed up on time, the waitress announced 45 min delay. She was barely polite, did not even offer a drink or a place to sit. Waisted our Valentine's diner. We had to go eslsewhere."

"The place was probably a little crowded for Valentine's Day, and the staff overwhelmed. That said, whether the reason or not, they got the temperature of the meat wrong and service took fairly long. The only reason that the ratings were not lower was that you could taste that the food was well seasoned and prepared for service... just not well fired, and some of it was probably left on a heating rack too long."

"We've eaten at Timpano's a few times before and have always had good experiences there. This meal wasn't up to the standards of our previous visits, but still was a decent experience overall. The filet mignons that we both ordered were delicious, tender, and prepared perfectly. The asparagus was not as fresh as it should have been. The minestrone soup for an appetizer was OK--not Timpano's best work--and ditto for the meatballs that my dining companion had. Our waiter was attentive part of the time and inattentive part of the time. LOTS of attention from him before two other parties were seated in his section, then VERY difficult to get the time of day from him once he smelled bigger tips from these larger newcomer parties."

"The food and service was very good. The only thing I did not like was that the tables are too close together and the waiters when walking by kept bumping into my chair. Also, the noise level was pretty loud. Other than that, it was a very nice experience."

"I indicated on my on-line reservation that we were celebrating my Husband's birthday, so I expected a nice, quite and romantic atmosphere. However, we were placed next to a large family table with two small kids. The table appeared to have three generations seated (grandparents, parents & two toddlers). The kids constantly whined, complained, and cried. I was not happy about our placement, and thought since the on line reservation asked about our occasion for visiting, it would have taken more care to place us in a more appropriate area."

"The service was attentive but not overbearing. My meal, basic chicken parm w/pasta, was far from the best I have had. The temperature was tepid at best and the pasta was a lump. I think it stood around wile the other meals in the party very being finished. Another gust in my party had to send her meal back.
