Dragonfly Restaurant and Sushi Bar, in Historic Downtown Truckee combines a unique blend of influences with its “Cal-Asian” cuisine. Voted Truckee’s Best Restaurant, owner/chef Billy McCullough uses local and seasonal ingredients fused with flavors from around Asia for a unique culinary experience. Plantain Crusted Basa with Banana Curry Sauce or Tea Rubbed Kobe Flat Iron Steak with Asian Chimichurri Sauce are examples on the ever changing dinner menu. The sushi bar features sustainably harvested seafood. Only the best and freshest fish here! Our Candy Cane Roll with Maguro Tuna and Escolar and our Salmon-Dungeness Crab Roll create return customers daily! The eclectic lunch menu's highlight is the Green Thai Curry Noodle Bowl with Grilled Prawns and Udon Noodles. Enjoy a cocktail in the lounge or bottle of wine on the deck. "There's many great restaurants to choose from in Truckee, but Dragonfly is always a favorite. The menu is unique, sushi is fresh and creative, and the drink menu is amazing. Always a good choice and never lets you down."

"Set in picturesque downtown Truckee across from the Amtrak station, Dragonfly has the best food we've had in the Truckee area! Every dish was mouth watering and a fun fusion of Japanese, Indian, and Californian cuisine. Superior to the Ritz Carlton restaurant even. The food was simply divine. Downtown Truckee is small but such a cute "main street". This is upstairs. Decor is a bit quirky, but the service was fabulous. Great wine list. We will definitely be back!"

"I like Dragonfly as a general rule. It's one of my standing "go to" places in Truckee for date night. The food is always good. I didn't give them the highest marks this visit for two reasons: The timing of the meal made me feel rushed. The salad/soup arrived almost on top of the appetizer, although there was a reasonable break until the entree arrived. Then, I asked if we could have a different table (which was open) and was told "Some of our tables are specifically reserved - I'll have to check if it's really open" and by the time she came back, someone else had been seated there. And the table we got was right next to a door (closed, but cold enough that I had to wear my jacket). We weren't offered any of the other free tables."

"Excellent creme brulee... I had lots of "cremes brulees" in my life ( in France and in the US ), but this one was pleasantly surprising. I don't think I had one like this before. Really good. Good texture, good use of lemon...
The toffees were also good... Not too sweet, good quality nuts, good balance of caramel and chocolate flavors.
The cioppino was OK but not great... I probably wouldn't use canned tomatoes, and if I was using carrots ( I am not sure I would ) I wouldn't cut them in such small cubes which are too small when compared with the shrimps, scallops etc... The bread in the soup was good.
The mojito was fine, but I had a better one in France a couple of months ago."

"very good food; carrot soup was a good starter and the house salad was interesting. sushi roll was great- scallop wrapped with yellowtail- and we almost licked the bowl of asian cioppino. should've skipped dessert"
