"The food was high quality. The service was very attentive, thou the time we were at the restaurant was early in the evening when there were few diners. The decor is somewhat minimalist in the area we were in, and since it is winter we couldn't experience the outside dining, thou it looked like it would be pleasant if street noise wasn't an issue."

"LIghting is dim at table position not hit by ceiling spot. The resourceful waitress loaned us a small flashlight to help read the menu. Table for 3 guests is given a bread plate with one butter dish that holds butter for two pieces of bread. Bare ceilings and walls amplify the talking to a high noise level."

"Formerly one of our standby restaurants, something has gone wrong lately at Metro. It is as if, perhaps to save time or money they have decided to just focus on covering up every protein with enough sauce that what's under it no longer matters. The Tombo tuna was as generic of a dish as I have tasted in a long time- up to the standards of the pre-packaged fillets from Trader Joe's with a bottled sauce slathered on. The rest of the meal was good but largely forgettable.

Service remains good and that keeps the restaurant from drifting down into the 2 start category- especially for the price. The service continues to be friendly and efficient and always willing to help a guest."

"Dinner was delicious with great service. I suggest anyone who would like to dine in relative calm and quiet request a table outside in the tent. Although the decor is not as elegant as inside, it is quiet. It is a huge improvement over the clamorous and unremitting din indoors."

"Pluses: Calamari was cooked perfectly. Great wine list. My husband's lamb was fall-off-the-bone tender. Fireplace in the corner added to the ambiance.Minuses: Restaurant was quite noisy. Decor is stark--intentionally so, it seems. Could use a pop of color here and there. My gnocchi, although cooked well, did not come together as an entree. The medallions of roasted figs were deliciously sweet and the dollops of goat cheese were creamy and slightly salty, but the gnocchi themselves, in unusual tube shapes and coated in a sage butter, fell flat. The three elements didn't blend at all, and overall the dish seemed more like a side dish than an entree. I might go back to the restaurant, but wouldn't order the gnocchi again"

"I really really liked the food at Metro, but I can't understand why restaurants that spend serious money on their interiors, don't spend on sound baffling. Restaurants are too loud these days, forcing you to raise your voice and hindering the conversation part of the dining out experience. Is it to get you out of your table as quickly as possible after your meal?
Also, we brought a fine bottle of wine, but wanted a pre-dinner drink. The waiter read the beer list and I chose a Belgium ale (3 Philosophers), that I'd never had before. Expecting a traditional 12oz ale, it turned out to be a 26oz Cherry ale. I think the wait staff has a responsibity to inform the customer of unusual characteristics of their order..."

"We loved Metro last year: creative, delicious, big portions. With the rough economy, however, plates got smaller (you won't go hungry; just means they are now at 'normal' bistro portion). We were a little disappointed that lunch didn't wow us as did our previous dinner. Skip the pastrami sandwich; any deli does it better. The onion soup was good, and the brussel sprouts were hands-down, the best I've ever had--superb! The duck spring rolls are smaller but still yummy. Crab salad sandwich was excellent, as was the Meyer lemon tart for dessert (think lemon meringue pie, minus the meringue). Metro's still a lovely place, especially with that outdoor patio for summer, but I think we'll stick to dinner here."

"Metro, once again, earned their chops with a wonderful mushroom risotto and perfectly-cooked chicken and classic schnitzel in a lemon butter caper sauce. The tuna poke appetizer is tasty and generous. I continue to be baffled by why they only serve it with two small sesame crackers however. The apple huckelberry crisp was just the right balance of sweet and tart. Service was impeccable."

"We go to this restaurant every few months, they remain consistenly good with the food and service. The menu varies depending on the season, not an extensive menu but seems to always have enough variety. Great appetizers, could just order a variety of those! Duck Confit Spring Roll and Chopped Salad are good. Most recently had the lamb shank and it was outstanding. Will continue to have dinners at this restaurant!"

"Went for lunch and as usual got the roast pork sandwich which is amazing!amazing! amazing!! I have no complaints whatsoever about any of the food as I have always had great meals there but the noise level was ridiculous and the dining room was only half full. Made what could have been a great dining experience just an ok one as we skipped dessert to get out of the noise! (and the desserts are yummy!)"

"We went for a group holiday lunch. The energy was perfect and we had a beautiful round table by the fireplace. The cocktails here are always fabulous! My one issue with Metro is that the lunch menu is short. It seemed the selections were limited to a salad or sandwich choice and a fish entree....so the meal part wasn't that special. "Cozy on a cold night with fireplace burning.
Food was very good; generous green salad and duck spring rolls were crispy on outside and soft warm duck inside. Pasta was fresh and perfectly cooked. Dessert was perfect."

"Metro is an excellent restaurant, however, they do need to do something about the enclosed patio section, used in the Winter months. It is far too cold. (I am not a person that feels the cold) When you walk back around the corner of the restaurant it is like a blast of hot air. Some of the help go in and out the door to the patio,which does not help. Apart from that it is great restaurant."

"This was our second visit to Metro. Food was very good, presentation imaginative, appetizers delectable and tasty. We sat indoors as it is approaching winter, as opposed to our last dining experience in the summer, where we ate outside.
The restaurant is very modern in decor, with a lot of concrete floors and hard surfaces.
This exacerbates the room noise considerably. Also, the restaurant in my opinion, was too
cool, this detracted from the dining experience. My wife and daughter, even with sweaters and wraps, were too cold.
Other than that, we had a lovely dining experience. But if you can, and the season is right, eat outside, and you will enjoy it better."

"This was our first visit to Metro. The service was attentive and the food was good but not great. I had the vegetable salad which I am still digesting 12 hours later. The hanger steak was good and the garlic fries were very good (enough for two people). As the place filled up on a Friday night it became almost impossible to hear my table partner."
