In the heart of New York's Theatre District, Sardi's has been the toast of Broadway since 1921. Featuring continental cuisine, we are open Tuesday through Sunday.
"Unique decor with a noteworthy assortment of appetizers, entrees, salads and desserts. Great service from an attentive staff made a memorable after theater visit for a recent trip to New York. I recommend Sardi's highly."

"what a wonderful surprise..my last 2 visits to sardi's had been private buffets upstairs, which were mediocre. my expectations for dinner for 2 before the theatre were not high...boy was I wrong! the historic, NY theatre main dining room was so pleasant, the waiter was efficient and friendly and the food was surprisingly good. gravlax plate to start, crab cakes to follow..and a walk across the stree to our 7:00 curtain...can't wait to return."

"As always, our evening at Sardis was delightful. The professional staff made us feel 'star-quality' special. The drinks were excellent, the wine superb and the food was perfect. From steak to pasta, every dish was spectacular! Like a fine Chanel suit, Sardis never goes out of style!"

"It is difficult to find a bad restaurant in New York - but one sure way to do so is to take the "safe" road to a well known tradition in Time Square. I wish we would have selected an unknown place that still had to work to earn a reputation as Sardi's was average at best.
Do yourself a favor and Wake up your sense of adventure - skip this NYC Classic that is making a living on its past reputation."

"If you order right, you can have a very nice meal here and enjoy the wonderful surroundings and service of this venerable Broadway institution. First couple of times I ate here, it was with relatives from out of town and I played it safe with my food choices...and was very disappointed. I decided to try it one more time and strayed from the tried and true and have discovered that some of the meals are delicious and it is perfect if seeing a show in the mid-40s. Last visit I enjoyed a Seafood Cobb with a citrus dressing that was fantastic! Give it a try and be adventurous."

"After taking my mother to Sardi's a few years back, I knew what kind of environment I was going to find - something a little upbeat as far as the amount of people and great food! So, needless to say it was the first and only place I thought of for our anniversary dinner - and boy neither one of us was disappointed. A place we'd be willing to go to again for a fine meal."

"This has become a place to go for the surroundings. The food is fine, not outstanding, but expensive for what it is. Stick to their signature dishes and look around, that is what you are paying for"

"I always enjoy lunch at Sardi's before a theatre matinee. Celebrity siting does not disappoint, either! Kathy Lee Gifford & Hoda Kopfe were at a nearby table and the room buzzed."

"Food was good, but nothing special. Our waiter didn't speak English very well, so when we asked for the specials, he just pointed to a printed out listing on the menu."

"I've been 3 or 4 times in the past 2 years because the location is on top of most of the theaters we are going to. This past Saturday will be our last visit. The food is mediocre - the lines at the rest rooms are unbelievably long and on top of that we have to climb up a full set of stairs to get to. The salads had too much dressing - my shrimp were over grilled and cooked. Too bad because it is so convenient but that is it's only good feature. It's been going down hill."

"This is a typical NY restaurant with the addition of all of the personality caricatures that make the decor very interesting. Food is always excellent, service outstanding and they can get you out in time for your Broadway show no matter what else happens. A New york institution!"

"I really would like to love Sardi's - I remember going there when I was a kid and remember it in its prime. The location is great for theater and it has lots of history, but food is modest and service makes you feel like they are somewhat bothered you are there."

"We were visiting NYC and wanted to catch a couple of shows. We saw Book of Mormon at a matinee and then had a 7:00 showtime to see Silence the musical...Sardis was half way between making it a convenient stopping point for dinner. I had been there years ago, but my partner hadn't so we decided it would be fun to go to the iconic restaurant.
It was awful! Food was just poorly cooked. Service was good and the ambiance is old school...and that with the cocktails was fun....
But the food...what they did was a crime...and the sad thing is that I ordered the steak tatar...and there was this whole presentation of the raw ingredients and then it was made fresh and presented to you....yeah....it tasted like a raw lipton onion soup burger!"

"Great meal for after theater. Joined by 2 good friends and accomodations were easily adjusted. Center of theater district, making location that much better. Yes, it is an old standby, but there are reasons good places stand the test of times. Perfect for a late dinner!"

"It's all a out the history here. The staff is tired. The food is tired. Even the bartender was tired (our Manhattans were dreadful and served in a wine glass). It felt like they've been cruising for too long & reality is catching up."

"Sardi's is a theater district institution and that will never change. However, I wonder if they've lost sight of the original experience and atmosphere that earned the restaurant its reputation. Today, it seems oriented towards churning tourists through as quickly as possible with deteriorating food and service quality, but continued mid to high level prices. The physical location and caricatures on wall are pretty much all that's left of the legend. I took my daughter there pre-theater and felt sad to see what has become of it since the first time my own mother took me there pre-theater."

"I'm glad to see this old NY restaurant still thriving and will return because of it's unique vibe. It's time for a paint job but I appreciate so much the very professional service the "famous menu selections" which I think they have wisely kept on the menu and a decent bubbly for $8!"

"I have been going to Sardi's for over 40 years and can honestly say I've never had a bad meal. When you walk in the door, you feel an immediate connection to the Broadway community, to whom Sardi's has been a friend and partner for almost a century. Their onion soup is one of the best first courses in Manhattan. I have two favorite entrees, curried chicken and cannelloni au gratin. I've also like Sardi's pasta with chicken, which is good old fashioned (Italian) comfort food. Sardi's is a great place to take out-of-town guests who enjoy theater. If they have never been there, it will be a highlight of their trip. Whomever you dine with, Patrick, grandson of founder, Vincent Sardi, and the staff will ensure a fine dining experience."

"Sardi's is a New York institution, worth checking out for a throwback to three-martini lunches of the Mad Men era. A grand dining room with chartictures on the walls is the ambiance. The service is friendly, and the fact is the food is good and very reasonably priced, especially for NY."

"An old favorite for crab cakes, cannoli and onion soup. The chick pea soup should never have left the kitchen. Manager dialing cell phone when we arrived. Never looked up. Because it was 9:30 on a Tuesday night the noise level was great."

"Service was really lacking. Server was virtually absent for most of the meal. People who sat down next to us when we got there got their food before our order was even taken. He pretended to not know about the lower price actors menu then after we ordered from it, billed us full price. When we said something, he pulled the actors menu right out and seemed quite familiar with it. We live in the neighborhood and always wanted to go but won't go back due to the service."

"Classic old school dining. You know what you are getting, traditional and classic service. Not for foodies, but for NY city nostalgia a must visit. You will not be disappointed, but you will also not be overly impressed. A living "dining museum" if you will. Convenient to times square and theater district."

"Everyone else at my table seemed to enjoy their food but the Sardi's Shrimp that I had 3/29/13 was so bad I didn't even eat more than one piece. I'm not very picky at all but it had zero flavor and the sauce was bland and watery. The rice tasted as if it was Uncle Ben's. Terrible.
The bread bowl was good."

"If you want a pretheater experience long on ambiance but short on culinary excellence, this is it! Took a party of 8 (5 teens) before a show. Excellent classic Broadway atmosphere complete with hundreds of charicatures on the walls, brass fixtures and waitstaff in bowties and vests. We even spotted a D-list celebrity. Exactly the kind of food you might expect- better than hotel banquet food, but nothing to shout about. Overall a fun NY experience, and more affordable than most surrounding sit-down restaurants."

"The food wasn't as good as I had expected. Dh's steak was overlooked, but the Demi glacé was impressive. My crab cakes had so much filler, including what I assume are roasted veggies, but really just tastes like broccoli. Beautiful interior (though needs an update) and fun looking at the caricatures around the room was fun!"
