Zingari Ristorante is an exquisite Italian jewel nestled one block away from Union Square in the heart of San Francisco's Theatre District. Zingari moved into the neighborhood in 1995. Staying true to the meaning of its name Zingari, which means Gypsy, it features contemporary dishes and cuisines from all regions of Italy.
In the lounge you will find live jazz from both local and traveling Jazz artists. Throughout the year you will find wine maker dinners that bring wine country to the restaurant, thus giving its patrons a chance to enjoy the best of the Bay Area, as well as Italy. Zingari continues to be a special place where people come to enjoy great food that is unpretentious, in an ambiance that is warm and exciting, with service that is friendly and professional, and music that keeps you a little longer than they had anticipated – experience you can toast to.
"I needed a restaurant to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary with family members. I preferred a private room, but the extra cost was more than I wanted to pay, and I didn't want a predetermined menu. After exchanging emails with owner Krishan Miglani, I decided on Zingari Ristorante. Krishan said he could offer a semi-private table for our party of nine. We couldn't have been happier with the setting in the small room adjacent to the Marble Room. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the excellent food, and the service was superb. Best of all, we were not rushed in the least. In fact they allowed us to stay as long as we wanted, which was greatly appreciated because getting everyone together from different parts of the state is a rare treat."

"We enjoyed an early dinner at Zingari on Saturday evening. This is not a big noisy place; it is small and intimate. Our table was ready when we arrived, service was attentive, and the food and drink really nice. We used the price-fix menu for our selections and found it included several really great choices for all three courses. We enjoyed it and will return."

"The food was nicely presented and very tasty. Our waiter was just outstanding. The service was a little slow due to a large group ahead of us and he was very gracious. Well located for a night out to the theater. Very convenient from BART."

"Went there for good food while and the Jazz lounge. There are very few tables where you can listen to music. Most of the tables are in other rooms. And the lounge itself is small and very odd shaped. There are maybe 3-4 tables where you can see, and only if you are lucky enough to be seated there. Even sitting at the bar, it is hard to see. The woman singing that night was amazing, but the environment was so uncomfortable, we moved on fairly quickly."

"the food was decent but definitely not the value. you can do a lot better else where for less. there was a lot of banging noise during our entire visit which was not acceptable. we did not pay that kind of price to get annoyed during a meal."

"The food was absolutely amazing (apps, entree, and dessert and I cleaned all 3 plates). Our waiter was attentive and friendly and everything came to the table perfectly timed. My only gripe is that the manager (some older man standing at the front with the host) was overbearing and needs to let the highly competent waitstaff do their job. He was hovering and made everything seem too urgent when we were trying to have a romantic evening. I marked down the ambiance because the place seems to attract loud complaining old people, and as expensive as the place is, I didn't appreciate someone bringing their screaming crying baby. Luckily the baby crying only ruined our dessert."

"Fennel salad was wonderful - light and crisp. Chicken breast with crisp polenta was so very good. My friends' penne pasta was delicious. Only "complaint" was that there was too much cocoa atop the otherwise yummy teramisu. Well worth checking out. I know we will go again."

"We enjoyed our meal. Since it was in hotel, which we didn't realize, it was expensive. It was especially so for our eating partners, who neglected to ask how much the special lamb chop dish was. It was $42 ! (pretty high since other entrees were nearer to $30.} Service was outstanding."

"The service was exceptional and food very, very good. I had the Pappadelle and my husband the pork chop. The Pappadelle was exceptional, fantastic. The only problem we had was the pork chop my husband ordered was dry. That said, the sauce served with it was very tasty so he just used it to saturate the chop. We have found it is very difficult to get a good, moist pork chop in general. Other than that, we would absolutely return."

"The jazz was being played in the bar, where a private party was being held, so we were disappointed by that. Then they seated us in a room with no windows, just murals of San Francisco painted on the surrounding walls. The room was 8 feet wide max and 40 feet long at best. I felt as if I had been punished and sat in a closet. Having a reservation didn't really do us any good. With all the choices of Italian food we could have had in Little Italy with some ambiance I would have rather gone somewhere else."

"Worst restaurant experience since eating 1950 c rations,we simply left.We dinned here 2 years ago and had a good experience, how quickly this can change. The lighting was so bright it hurt your vision, the pasta was raw, uneatible even if starving, the side walk,in front of restaurant, was full of vagrants who were aggressive. The few other diners appeared to be on some european meal plan. Don't go . even if you are starving."

"The food and service was excellent. Portions were adequate. After eating a 3 course meal, we didn't leave feeling overly stuffed. Zingari would be a great place to celebrate a special occasion or for a date night. The only thing that we didn't like during our time there was that a family brought their kids to dinner. They were very loud and noisy. I don't believe Zingari is an appropriate place to bring your kids. However, the restuarant IS indeed attached to a hotel, so there is always that possibility that families might bring in their children."

"Service was top-notch and food was good. Wine list was reasonably priced. Given the location, near Union Square and the theaters, I was expecting a bit of a tourist trap, but it was nothing of the sort. Recommended."

"The carpaccio was great but my husband's pizza Margarita was disappointing. Also the corkage fee at $35 was the highest we have ever paid. Not sure if we would return to this restaurant."

"This restaurant is directly across the street from the JW Marriott. I had the seared Ahi. It was cooked perfectly. The service was very attentive without being smothering. I very much enjoyed the restaurant."

"Cabaret singer was distracted and bored by her small crowd. Service staff ignored us because we were seated in the jazz lounge rather than in the diner-like dining room. All and all a forgettable evening. Not to be recommended unless your Uncle Bob is singing in the lounge."

"Near Union Square. Glad we made reservations ahead of time. Food was great. Service was personable. Would have liked to check out the Jazz lounge but it was crowded by the time we finished dinner around 8:30 pm."
