"Went with a colleague in town for meetings, and he was looking for good Thai or Chinese. E&O was a good choice for that -- interesting menu, with good range of options on classic Asian dishes. We went for veggie dumplings, lapsang souchong tea eggs with "varnished bacon" and both were great. Main was spicy Szechwan noodles -- enough heat to stand out without blowing your head off, well presented with good flavors."

"Our group of ladies shared several menu items. The food is served quickly after ordering; I had to ask for a slow-down so we could enjoy the courses. We shared plates as was suggested to us. That worked out well and we were filled after having two appetizers, three entree choices and fried rice which was excellent! I would recommend E&O and would return for lunch, drinks, or dinner."

"E&O has changed quite a bit since we first found it about 8 years ago. The beer is always cold and on draft and the menu changes and is always a little eclectic. Depending on your server the service is passable if you are not in a hurry or hungry.

"A delicious dining experience! Each dish that came out was just as tasty as the one we were eating! Corncakes like I have never tasted before, crunchy with whole pieces of corn somehow held together, beef dishes so tender and tasty with just the right amount of spice, eggplant so tender it melted in your mouth...unlike any other restaurant in the city!!! This is my second time to E&O and I will definitely be back for a third!!!"

"Had dinner here recently and really enjoyed it. The menu was varied with many tempting items. I had the tamarind wings (very good but could have had more tamarind flavor), the prawn salad (unusual and wonderful) and the Indonesian fried rice (light but full of flavor - a true delight). The room was modern and attractive with a big bar and an open kitchen. The noise level is high and the waiter seemed stretched thin, but this didn't really affect a most enjoyable meal."

Appetizer was Luke warm when it should have been hot, salad arrived after the main course was delivered and the waiter did not even notice! Apologized and offered to pack the salad "to go"!!. Felt very rushed although restaurant was not full. Fried rice should have had BBQ pork but had mostly pork fat. Waiter offered to show us the dessert menu when he delivered the check!"

"Six of us shared shiitake dumplings, butternut squash dumplings, scallion bread, sizzling beef and pad thai and devoured it all. Everything was flavorful and delicious. It's the fifth time I've eaten there, and I've never had anything but excellent food and wonderful service. I love the place, as does everyone else I've taken there. My only complaint is the wine list which favors foreign wines and is a bit pricey."

"E&O remodeled their space and their menu last year - it used to be one of my favorites when I visited SF because they had a creative and diverse menu and fantastic cocktail creations. The new E&O is much simpler in design and the bar and dining menus have been pared down as well. The food was good but not great and the drinks just fair. Sorry to have seen the "old" E&O gone."

"Have been looking for an Asian restaurant for a while within walking distance that want to return to. Found it here. First time here. Server James was helpful and attentive. We opted to with his favourites and didn't let us down. Taste every flavour. Advice on portions was good too. Black cod was delicous and the hangar steak was full of flavour and tender. Nice cut of beef. Up there as a favourite restaurant and would take friends and family. Reminded us of places we went to when back in London."

"Food is delicious but can be spicy-hot (a plus for me; a minus for my husband). The corn fritters are a signature dish and a must-order item. The atmosphere is semi-loud and frenzied with waiters and other staff zipping back and forth. Unfortunately, tables for two are very small and are also intermingled with group tables which can be loud and bothersome. Overall, this is a good restaurant for groups of four and up looking for an energetic atmosphere, but it is not a good restaurant for a romantic dinner for two."

"E & O is always a good call for a special dinner. It's great for a nice romantic dinner for 2, but it also works for groups of family or friends since you basically share all the selections you order. We've been here a few times and have never been disappointed. The food is awesome, the service is even better. Great all around."

"We were a party of 7. The waitress recommended that we order family-style (i.e. sharing of dishes), so we did. However, she completely messed up the order. We had 2 vegetarians, and she brought us a dish we never ordered, and then the 1 dish we did had fish in it. Moreover, when we told her about the mistake, there was no apology and she never brought out the correct dish. She also never checked in even once during the entire meal to see if it tasted good.
Most people enjoyed the food, but we all agreed the service was rude & terrible."

"What a wonderful find! My friend and I had an absolutely perfect meal at E and O. Our server, Victor, was polished, knowledgable, and friendly. He knew the menu backwards and forwards and was able to recommend several dishes. Each was more delicious than the one before and I will return to this restaurant the next time I am in the city."

"The food was amazing but the service was terrible. We were seated upstairs next to a screaming child and a large birthday party. We asked to be moved & we would wait for a table downstairs and were told "we're really busy tonight". After sitting with empty bar glasses for 10-15 min. I finally stopped a server and asked for the waitress. Then after specifically asking the waitress to space out the appetizers, they were brought all at one time, filling the table with no room to move. We booked this for our anniversary & a high recommendation from someone who lives in the city. Not one mention was made of "happy anniversary", even after telling the maitre 'd. There are so many other places in SF, we will not be back."
