"Took my wife and her sister there for her birthday. My wife is vegan and the staff not only accommodated her but went out of the way to find ways to make food she could eat and enjoy. While they did not have Muscato, her favorite wine, the manager introduced us to some new wines that we had never tried that she loved. It was a great experience."

"A place of this quality in a town of this size is just unheard-of in the U.S. Brilliantly conceived, managed, cooked, and served. Multiple daily Gulf fish specials are incomparable anywhere in the region, and the standard menu has fabulous novelties such as spinalis, an absolute must-try for carnivores. Wine list, which would be impressive in New Orleans, seems impossible in Mississippi (just ask Tom Wolfe in Pass Christian). Come here any & every time you have a chance. Best in the State, including Oxford and Jackson."

"The Purple Parrot was not up to St. John's standards of old. Ihe portion sizes have been reduced and the service was cafe-ish. We also ate at Tabella and Creesent City, also St. John's restaurants during the same trip. They were outstanding."
