"Needed a good place for a romantic getaway that was out of the way of the bustle of the city. The drive up the canyon is a great way to remove the trappings of the day, and since I kept the place a surprise it was a wonderful sight to her on arrival. The bar is a small but personable place and an early arrival ensured we had the place to ourselves. Sitting outside was simply perfect, and the food was fantastic. Elk carpaccio, bison chili, an appetizer salad, heirloom spinach and the. Great breads and the steak and lobster. In retrospect a different and more adventurous entree choice would have been better as everything was superb. Walked the path to the trail e joyed a great wine and a cocktail as well. Two people had a tremendous time."

"My boyfriend and I were placed outside with a view of the waterfall. The atmosphere was beautiful and the weather was pleasant. The food, while rich, was in small portions and could have been larger for the price, but still the experience was overall very enjoyable and I plan on going back in the future."

"Took my wife for our 4th yr anniversary. 90+ degrees in the valley but beautiful and comfortable temperature in the canyon. Incredible setting, great service and delicious food. Don't usually repeat restaurants but will definitely be back. Recommend the Alpine Nachos and Smoked Duck and Hand Cut Serrano Chile Pasta."

"On a beautiful evening, with wonderful company, I had a simply fabulous dining experience. Elise, our server, was charming, the steak, cooked to perfection, the creme brulee a delight. "Service with Elise was outstanding; not rushed, well informed, and serviced with perfection. The restaurant was able to keep noise level down; the log decor with soft lighting added to the rough-hewn effect; outside pine tree view with waterfall...perfect. It was a 60-year anniversary for the folks, the piano player knew "their song" Moonlight in Vermont. Nice touch."

"Log Haven is a little gem in the mountains of Millcreek Canyon. The atmosphere was quiet & peaceful. A fireplace in the middle of the restaurant was warm & cozy. The beauty inside matched tge beauty outside. We were treated very respectfully by our waitress who knew the menu very well & answered our questions with ease. The food was presented so beautifully that you almost didn't want to eat it. Its taste matched that of its presentation. The food options would please anyone. We enjoyed everything at Log Haven. It is a perfect place for a special occasion - anniversary, birthday, valentines, etc..."

"We were seeking a scenic setting for a special celebration and we definitely found it at Log Haven! But we truly didn't expect to be wowed by the food...and were pleasantly surprised that the food exceeded the beautiful setting. We started with a low-cal mushroom soup that tasted rich and velvety as if full of cream and butter. Who knew healthy food could taste that rich and yummy? The skirt steak preparation was right on and my wife raved about her salmon in a corn broth with roasted tomatoes. Service was warm and friendly. Live piano spot on. A specialty Aperol cocktail is our new favorite. Hope we can duplicate it at home. Pricing was a great value. We will definitely return."

"I have a fondness for historic buildings and try to find places to visit when I travel. Log Haven is a real gem. The hostess gave us a tour and they have a hidden speak easy and a spring where they purify their own water. Parts of the building have the original logs from the early 1900's and it has been beautifully maintained. Our server told us they also have an occasional ghost! The menu is very eclectic and we had a difficult time narrowing down our options. I opted for the early bird special/steak and lobster and it was very good. My partner tried the trout entree with a bit of Japanese influence - unique & delicious. Extensive wine list and a sommelier on hand to help us narrow down our choice. Very enjoyable experience."

"Whenever I travel, I try to find historic buildings in the area. I love well-preserved eateries. Log Haven is amazing. The hostess gave us a tour and showed us a hidden speak easy and a spring outside that they purify their water from. Parts of the building have the original log structure and the views are gorgeous. The menu is very eclectic and we had trouble narrowing down our options. I ordered the steak and lobster - very good. My partner ordered the fish dish that had a japanese flair - delicious. Nice extensive wine list (Italian being a favorite) and had the sommelier help us with selections. We were very happy with our experience and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Salt Lake. It's a real gem."

"Our family has been coming to Log Haven for more years than I can count. We have seen a lot of "changes" over the years. The setting is unique and definitely a local treasure which must be experienced. The service is always exceptional. The food is very good, but could definitely be improved, especially for the price. SLC has a lot of tough competition in the food arena and it is critical that high end restaurants never let down their guard, especially during special events like Mother's Day."

"This is a terrific restaurant. The duck spicy pasta was amazing! The service was outstanding. Our waitress was friendly and attentive with a wonderful personality. "In a beautiful spot half way up Millcreek canyon, eating at Log Haven is always a pleasure. They have hearty canyon fair like buffalo and beef steaks. There are always interesting fish and seafood dishes as well. I really appreciate the "Low-Cal High Impact" special: a three course (appetizer, main course, dessert) menu always under 700 calories. This is not your mother's diet food, it stands up to anything on the menu. Eat outside if you can to enjoy the pine scented mountain air. Service is always good. The wine list is limited (consider bringing your own)."

"We were celebrating birthday's for 2 of my oldest son. They enjoyed a nice place like this. I had my whole family here which was 6 of us my 3 sons (32,27,23) and 1 daughter(10)and wife. The food was excellent. The only thing comment was the Brussels sprouts - two I my sons had them with the bison and didn't like them. I tried them also and really like Brussels sprouts but I didn't care for them either. Other than that we enjoyed ourselves very much - will be a place to come back to on special occasions."

"This very well may be the best restaurant in the Salt Lake Valley. Everything about the Log Haven was outstanding. It started with the service. When I made my reservation through OpenTable, you are able to add a note for requests. My wife has a tendency to get cold easily, so I asked that if there is a warmer spot in the restaurant to sit and if it was possible, could we be seated there. We were sat right next to the gas fireplace. Our waiter Hartley was informative and attentive. The view is phenomenal - waterfalls, the small lake/pond, it's beautiful. The best part, the food. My wife and I both loved it, we have nothing but good to say about food. Properly sized portions are available, which we chose. We will be returning!"

"This was my first trip to Log Haven and it was not as great as I'd hope. Being Easter the menu was set. Although there were good choices, the overall consensus of the group was that the food was rather bland. The atmosphere was nice, but not great. Our waiter was not very friendly and seemed to be put out by simple requests, such as more bread or another drink. Considering the price that was paid, our group expected a much better experience."

"We went to Log Haven for a perfect Easter dinner. This was our first time, but we look forward to returning. The food was beautifully presented and well-prepared. The dinner choices were varied and interesting. I particularly liked the kale chips that accompanied the trout entree. The setting was wonderful and the background piano music truly set the scene. Tables were well-placed so that conversations at one table did not spill over to the next."

"The best kept secret about Log Haven is the stellar performance by the piano player, who gently played song after song for the hours we savored our wonderful meal. "Our family LOVES Log Haven! We started with Alpine Nachos then on to an amazing salad with plump cherries and a light dressing. A wild turkey climbed the waterfall behind our table. Our server told us her name is Greta and it was simply amazing to watch her sip from the waterfall as we ate the best Black Cod I have ever tasted. It literally melted in our mouths. This restaurant is totally unique and deserves its national fame."

"Among the best restaurants along the Wasatch Front. Service is dominated by mature males. I don't know why women were scare, but they exhibited a high degree of professionalism and competence. Three servers attended to our table seeing that we had filled glasses and clean plates. They knew when to attend out table without our having to ask for anything. The food was delicious. Although the price is upscale, I shop more for value rather than price alone, and I feel I received an excellent value for my money."
