World renowned for its award winning "New Style" Japanese cuisine, Nobu continues to offer savvy diners across the globe a culinary adventure. Our San Diego location is yet another canvas for Chef Nobu Matsuhisa to display his legendary dishes, such as Black Cod with Miso and Yellowtail Jalapeno. The restaurant which is nestled in the perennially hip and centrally located Hard Rock Hotel also features unique creations by Executive Chef David Meade who has honed his skill in Nobu Miami and New York. Nobu San Diego delivers equally on food, impeccable service and ambiance that is sophisticated yet lively. A private dining room is available to accommodate up to 30 guests for a sit-down dinner or 40 guests for a cocktail reception. Nobu San Diego also offers Happy Hour from 5pm to 7pm daily and all night on Wednesdays in the bar and lounge.
"My first time back at a Nobu in ten years, on the plus side it's easier to get a table now. Still very good food (and we'd go back again) but it doesn't stand out from the crowd the way it did back in 2002 - mostly because the rest of the food world has really stepped up the game."

"I heard great things about this place, and overall was completely satisfied. Try the chef's sampling, you will need to order more food if you split the meal with your date. Make sure you get your valet ticket validated."

"Food was delicious as usual though was disappointed that they were out of one of of the lobster dishes that night (one of my favorites!). I took some colleagues there and they were thoroughly impressed with meal. Can't wait to go back again!"

"I have lived in San Diego for many years and Nobu is by far the best sushi/seafood restaurant in San Diego. You can expect to pay a hefty bill but it's well worth it."

"Nobu is a great place to experience new and exciting flavours. I suggest taking the omakase and letting the friendly staff take you on a food adventure.
I wouldn't recommend going here for a romantic evening tho, as the noise level was high."

"I've eaten at several Nobu restaurants and this one has the worst service. Too many people involved in the service and lots of things get missed. Take a lesson from the service at Nobu Las Vegas- impeccable every time!"

"Nobu San Diego was excellent in every respect. It was jammed with customers but provided excellent service both at the sushi counter by the sushi chefs, wait staff serving certain items to sushi bar customers as well as to all table diners. The sushi chefs were knowledgable, professional & courteous. The food was universally excellent. It was a pleasure o dine there."

"NOBU is fantastic, there was not one dish we did not like. I am not a regular, however have gone there enough over a period of over four years to know that it has not degraded!"

"The food and service were amazing. The only negative was it said there was a dress code so we dressed up and there were people in shorts, hoodies, t-shirts with no arms which brought the overall ambiance of the meal down."

"Celebrated our 12th year wedding anniversary here. We opted for the Chef's selection and was blown away. The chef created a memorable selection that burst with flavors. You get a 7 course and dessert at the end. You need to try their saki and cocktail to complete your meal. It's a great restaurant with amazing menu!"

"Don't waste your time or money, the so called happy hour serves the smallest very limited portions ever at high prices, the locals obviously know this as the place was dead, only 5 people in there on a wednesday night at 530-645pm Avoid NOBU if your looking to have fun and get full"

"The service was great, but the food was forgettable, especially the cold dishes. We had the chefs selection tasting menu and the only standout was the black cod, which was melt in the mouth delicious. Everything else ranged from ok to pretty good. Overall, for the price i would not return."

"Nobu is hands down our favorite restaurant. We usually eat at the Nobu in Los Angeles on La Cienega, and have been to Nobu in Tribeca. While there are some expected differences between locations and chefs, San Diego was a disappointment. We had just gone to Nobu LA two weeks prior, so with this fresh in our memories San Diego did not live up to expectations in any way.
We asked for a specialty dish that we've had in LA & NY. We were told that SD didn't have it and the chef gets weird when people come in asking for stuff off the LA menu! OK fine we went with what the chef did offer... it was mediocre at best so he should really check is ego...
If you've only been to Nobu SD you truly don't know what you're missing!!"

"Rolls are too small and overpriced; served in appetizer portions. Limited variety of rolls. Sushi on the Rock and Cafe Japengo are much better sushi options."

"Nobu serves Japanese-Peruvian cuisine, making it the Alberto Fujimori of food: corrupt. It's good for a 20-something crowd that doesn't know any better. We were served something that was said to be abalone but was unlike any abalone we had tasted before, and not in a good way. Very long delay between courses, and the server was not even aware of this: "Oh, I thought you had been served already." Such personal attention. You are packed into your table like freshly-caught tuna. If you want to hear everything being said at the tables to your right and left, this is the place for you. This is just another among the now many global, soulless, industrial-size restaurant operations that all seem the same despite how hard they try to be different."

"First let me say that I am a huge NOBU fan however NOBU San Diego has been my least favorite. The service is always sub par (feels like you are walking into a high dollar sports bar) and the food never seems to have the quality the other NOBU restaurants have and while I understand that each one carries their own unique style I believe this has more to do with overall service and quality (or lack thereof)."

"Marc our waiter was excellent. without him we would have had a hard time deciding what to get as it was our first visit and the menu is so extensive. I was however, very disappointed that my main dish was not available after ordering it. I had never had abalone before and was very excited about trying it....lost my appetite after that."

"OK food, but not deserving of the Nobu name, and absolutely not deserving of the $$$price$$$. Avoid. You will get better bang for your buck elsewhere, and you aren't getting food worthy of the price here anyway."

"For all the hype, it didn't live up to it for me. I only ordered a couple of sushi rolls which were good but not spectacular for the prices. Maybe I ordered the wrong items? Fun atmosphere & great location."

"Food was great. Service was ok. Waiter was friendly. Ambiance is so-so. Restaurant is one, big open room. Not very appealing really. This place is EXPENSIVE. We paid $300+ for three people, so bring your wallet!!"
