Trademark is the neighborhood bar for a remarkable neighborhood. With a nod to our close friends at the U.S. Patent and Trade Office, we take our inspiration from the innovators whose once daring ideas set the standard.
Then knowing exactly what the standard is, Trademark enjoys nothing better than tweaking it. Someone else had the brilliant idea to combine pork with beans, macaroni with cheese and gin with vermouth. We simply came up with a way to make you think you’re tasting them for the first time. Click Eat to see what we bring to the table.
The mixologists behind our bar program understand that some drinks are made to forget a hard day, others to foster inspiration, and still others to toast old friends and instant acquaintances. Click Drink to sample our craft cocktails and on-tap offerings.
We also noticed that good things happen when the atmosphere is properly stimulating. You’ll find the mood at Trademark as comfortable as it is inventive.
"My mom and I enjoyed the 2013 Mother's Day brunch. It had a nice variety of savory and sweet breakfast items, omelette bar, prime rib, and turkey. It was not particularly innovative cuisine. The servers were professional and pleasant. Our experience was adequate for the day, but we celebrated at other brunch spots in previous years and enjoyed it more in those other years. Sorry, Trademark. I would still recommend it, but I would recommend other options more."

"We had a nice table close to a window and near the brunch room. Food presentation made you want to try everything! The carved ham was well seasoned and tasty! The roast beef was tender. I also enjoyed the risotto and quiche along with the omelet station. The visibility of the chefs/kitchen staff ensured the area was kept clean, replenished when necessary and responded immediately to on-the-spot customer suggestions/requests. Although it was a self-serve brunch, the wait staff was almost non-existent for service to include clearing the table and serving beverages. I wanted to try a special brunch cocktail but my server could not get past the coffee and juice. Providing each mother with a special cupcake was a nice touch instead of flowers."

"My fiance and I had been wanting to try this restaurant for some time as we drove past it almost daily and it is right around the corner from our home. We finally went and weren't disappointed. It's located in the lobby of the local Westin, so it obviously is made with business travelers in mind. The food was more expensive than some place you would go regularly, but the food was quite good. $26 for a moderate sized salmon filet with mashed potatoes and asparagus is more than I would want to pay regularly. The menu is sparse, but what they did, from what I could tell, was quite good. The bar is expansive with many wine and beer selections. The service was outstanding."

"A great place for a work lunch -- excellent choices on the menu and everyone was pleased with what they ordered. In partic, the clean, fresh coleslaw was a hit! A little noisy in the main area, but our table was slightly out of the way so we had no problems chatting. Overall, a surprisingly pleasant experience."

"We were a little wary at first since this is located in a hotel. But now we have been several times and every time the food is great and service is superb. Would highly recommend."

"There isn't much in the area north of Old Town, but this is a great addition. We tried the bacon candy, the TradeMAC and Cheese (Chesapeake), the burger, and the Chesapeake pot pie---all were amazing. I had two cocktails, which were inventive and definitely a step above the normal craft-tails you find around other places these days. There are a lot of TVs on the wall, and the appetizer list is long and delicious looking--I will definitely be back here to snack on those and watch a game."

"Nestled in the Westin Alexandria (VA), it has a very large bar area and an intimate dining area. You feel like you are dining in a library, with books on shelves that you may thumb through between courses, although the lighting is very subdued. Because of the bar, the have an impressive appetizer menu. The soft warm pretzel bites, which come with honey-mustard and chipolte dipping sauces, were tasty. The grilled salmon and Chesapeake Pot Pie were good entree choices. If you order the pot pie, don't try to gulp it down. It is served, very, very hot. The dessert menu didn't do anything for us. The service was very attentive. Complimentary valet parking, with restaurant validation, is available. Starwood Preferred Guest members earn points."

"Hadn't eaten here since the remake and it was a wonderful surprise. Some co-workers and I went and the service was outstanding from the start. Food was not only creative but the taste was incredible. I had the Tomatoe Bisque and Porcini Ravioli small dishes and they were both wonderful! One of our party ordered the seafood pot pie and OMG it was incredible! So if you haven't been back since they updated it is definitely worth the stop."

"Actually the apps were the start of the show. We ended up having the bacon candy, flatbread and pretzel bites. The drinks of course were spot on. Sadly the main courses were just okay. Friends had the seafood pot pie, beer can chicken, crab cake and I can't remember what I had. Clearly they were not memorable. Still a huge improvement over what was there before. Definitely check it out for a happy hour."

"Don't bother coming here. I am guessing that only people trapped at the hotel eat here. It took almost 20 minutes in a fairly empty restaurant for anyone to come over to the table. The rolls are stale, the food uninspired and the bartender must be from a saloon in the Wild Wild West (beer or a shot of whiskey will come out okay, but good luck ordering anything else). This is certainly not the type or artisanal cocktail bar they make it out to be on their website. $65 (including tax and tip) for one poorly made cocktail, one glass of bad wine and one entree (not steak, lobster or anything with truffles) is three times what the food here should cost and even then I would not come back. The food and service at Sizzler is better."

"The restaurant is very clean and nice looking. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The food was so-so. I feel like I need to come here again and order some other menu items to get a better sense of this place. I ordered the spinach and artichoke dip and cobb salad which were both pretty plain and my husband had the Cuban mac and cheese which was good, but also kind of boring. On the plus side, they have some great local beers and the prices were appropriate."

"We went to Trademark for Valentine's Day. Like many restaurants, they had a prix fixe menu for the day, but it was about half the price of most nice DC-area restaurants' and, especially important for me, included creative vegetarian options. It's only a short drive from DC but surprised me by being in such a nice neighborhood. There was lots of street parking.
The restaurant itself has an awesome, classic but modern vibe, with cool blue walls and all sorts of curiosities. There is an active bar, and the restaurant is large, but the noise level was fine. The service was personal and dedicated, even on such a busy night, and all the food was fabulous. I loved the potato soup with gnocchi croutons. I definitely plan to come back when I can!"

"Very good food, not very good service. Seemed as if there was only one server on the floor, with two bussers. The spinach and artichoke dip was yummy, but a little small. I really enjoyed the Beer Can Chicken. The specialty drink menu had a variety of liquor & whiskeys and were very tasty!"

"Everything about Trademark was good, but not something memorable. I don't have any complaints, but I wasn't really blown away by the food. The drink menu was pretty delicious though...I would recommend the Headless Horseman and that may be what really beckons me back. Their just seemed to be something that didn't click with the staff, maybe it's still a fairly new restaurant and they aren't comfortable yet...I'm not really sure. I did think really like the decor and atmosphere."

"Seems to have gone downhill after the remodeling. The brunch menu was more limited. The hash was dry, the sausage cold. Too bad as it had been a delightful brunch location on the weekends. The service, however, continues to be excellent."
