Da Vinci
A stylish Italian eatery located where Boston’s Back Bay meets the South End, Da Vinci Ristorante focuses on modern and classic Italian cuisine. Owner/Chef Peppino (formerly of La Campania in Waltham, MA) offers an array of beautifully presented Antipasti and Entrees, including homemade pastas, breads and desserts made fresh daily. With an expanded bar area, Da Vinci offers low couches and comfy chairs that serve as an intimate meeting place to sip wine and cocktails named after Da Vinci’s most famous works.
We offer live music every Friday between the hours of 5:30 and 9:30pm. Enjoy our delectable food and superb service while listening to some great live music. Free valet service is also offered to patrons who come to the restaurant on or before 5:30pm (Thursday - Saturday) with valid theater tickets for that day (Not applicable with any other deals or promotions).

"We called ahead to verify that our children would be welcome and that they had a highchair for our baby, etc. However, this is NOT a family friendly restaurant. They did have a high chair, but the server was clearly pretentious, they do not have a children's menu (nor are they willing to offer any accommodation to feed your children). So, we ate dinner (we were a large party and it was a Saturday night so there was no other choice), paid nearly $30 for our 6 year old to eat pasta, and then walked down the street to get a pizza for our younger child at Cheesecake Factory afterward. Overall, we were made to feel EXTREMELY unwelcome and I would never eat there again. The food was just ok - don't bother going here - even without children."

"I loved the burrata. It is made in house. The rigatoni was fine at best and I liked the parpadelle. Soufflé was delicious and had it been a date night would have been perfect. They have fabulous service."

"DaVinci is currently my favorite Italian restaurant. Compared to Davios and Erbaluce which are within a block of DaVinci and also Italian, I'd say the service and food at DaVinci was superior. And that is a lot of praise for anyone who has been to those other restaurants recently."

"went there after the theatre. Have eaten at Davinci previously. Food is amazing. Somewhat pricey but given service, quality of food it is worth it. Everyone in my party of 4 had incredible food. Rigatoni Bolognese is possibly the best in the city and maybe best I have ever had (other than when I had it a the top restaurant in Bologna Italy). There was a swordfish special that was unbelievable as well."

"Very good food and friendly, professional staff. Our server Katie was excellent, knew the menu and the specials. the Chef came over and spent several minutes talking with us. Beef Tenderloin was fantastic (regular menu) and Black Sea Bass (special) was great too. Portion sizes were perfect. It is a little noisy, some of the noise came from a couple watching a basketball game at the bar and cheering rather loudly. fortunately the game ended about 15 minutes after we were seated. Other than that...great overall experience. I would recommend Da Vinci!"

"Our party of 4 ordered a 5 course tasting menu, so we got to try a lot of different plates. The Chef suggested items for our meal, and was happy to accomodate a vegetarian. For starters, a burrata with tomato, a small green salad and cheesy arancini were all excellent. Next, the Masala raviolis were an inventive Indian/Italian fusion, bursting with flavor, and the gnocchi con funghi were soft and comforting, rich and truffly. Main courses of haddock and melt in your mouth beef tenderloin were also top notch, as was a molton chocolate cake dessert with vanilla ice cream. There were no flaws, and no shortcomings in our meal. A personal visit from the chef was a special treat. I will return (for those gnocchi) sooner rather than later."

"The food here was amazing from the appetizers to the desserts our entire party was extremely happy! We went during restaurant week and at the top of the menu it said ask your server about gluten free options. Our server did not seem at all knowledgeable. He had to go ask the chef multiple times what items can be made gluten free and made it seem like an inconvenience. This was quite disappointing."

"Found Da Vinci on the website for Boston Restaurant week. The menu looked great and it is located in an area near my office which I always like to explore for good restaurants. They did not disappoint. The food was excellent, our server was really friendly and helpful, the atmosphere was great. "My friends and I decided to go to Da Vinci for a friend's 30th birthday. We had 8pm reservations and half of us were on time but we were told several times that our table was no ready and at one point they said we can't be seated till everyone arrives but that was not mentioned upon check in. They finally seated us a little after 8:30pm. Also the host made several remarks about how our friends were late for an 8pm reservations but its not like the table was ready when we arrived either. Things happend and people run late so those snarky comments were rude and uncalled for. Needless to say we will not return. There are plenty of great restaurants in the area so there is no need to put up with this kind of horrible service."

"Food was terrific. The shrimp app is a must. We both had pasta, homemade, cooked perfectly al dente (of course) and big portions. Waiter was helpful in picking a unique bottle of Italian red. Very much enjoyed it."

"Went on Valentines Day with my boyfriend. Food was great, service was terrible. It's quite unfortunate, but most times when young couples go anywhere (from our experience) we are treated lesser than more senior adults; really ruins the experience. No exception here, not sure if we would go back."

"My family went to DaVinci to celebrate a birthday and the whole evening was outstanding.We started with drinks in the bar area and the atmosphere was relaxed yet quietly elegant.The restaurant was visually a treat and the lighting set a very warm tone.Our server and the manager were wonderfully attentive throughout the evening and made well-appreciated recommendations for appetizers, the main course and wine choices.Our dinner, start to finish, was a series of taste celebrations and we all thoroughly enjoyed the entire meal.The scallops appetizer was an early highlight, and we actually ordered a second plate.The main courses were perfectly prepared from the tenderloin to the short ribs to the ravioli.All were shared.A delighful experience!!"

"Interesting crowd. Waiter was rushing us...Noise level was high and the menu that lights up--was a little much. The valet parking was expensive and I did not have a lot of faith that we would get back our car. I tried Da Vinci bc I had heard good things but a restaurant review is all relative, isn't it. We won't be going back."

"The food, atmosphere and service are very good at Da Vinci. The dining room has a warm elegance to it and there are nice touches such as the backlit menus (although they are quite large for the small tables). We started with the Indian Fusion Shrimp Salad and the Prosciutto e Asparagi and both were good, but not great. Dinners were much better, the Pappardelle with Short Ribs was very flavorful as was the Rigatoni Bolognese. For desert, we had the chocolate souffle and apple crostata and both were excellent. There is something about Da Vinci that didn't quite feel right. Our server had an air of pretentiousness and was not overly friendly. The overall value for the experience didn't quite measure up. "We have been to Da Vinci several times. This latest was not up to expectations. The Tuscan soup had good flavor but was watery. The haddock special, at $34, was ordinary and had too much salt. My wife also complained about the chef having a heavy hand with salt. Other diners thought their dishes were just okay. At these prices the food needs to be very special to receive strong ratings. Service was another issue. The waiter came over to remind us we needed to order early for 2 desserts, said he would be right back, then disappeared for 20 minutes. At that point any dessert was a moot issue, as he knew we had theater tickets. Overall, at high prices Da Vinci needs to deliver much better food and service than what we experienced."

"Liked but didn't love - this was my first time at this restaurant and the menu was a little bit different for an Italian restaurant with some innovative menu selections. I liked the restaurant however thought it was very quick as we were seated, appetizer out very quickly even though we had drinks and entree immediately after appetizer removed. Right when our plates were clear someone came over to get our valet ticket, so our entire dining experience was 1 hour and for such a short time, we want to have a more relaxed and not rushed dining experience. I wouldn't dine at restaurant again due to so many better restaurants with more relaxed atmospheres in the area."

"We experienced outstanding service from the wait staff and reception. Da Vinci definitely is very nice than one imagines while looking at it from the street; perhaps due to the absence of anything interesting in it's block. It is Italian with a touch of India in some items. We liked the somewhat limited menu; everything we ate was very good. It may not appeal to one who is looking for classic Italian. We'd surely go back even though we thought it was a tide pricey considering the offerings and portion sizes."
