"My co-workers and I had to attend a training class right after work this evening and I suggested Destihl for dinner since it was near by where we had to be. The food and service were good. Everyone enjoyed dinner. The only issue I had was the placement of the table. The tables seemed crowded together and I was right up against the wall were a portion of the wall decoration was sticking out. It made for an awkward way to sit at the table. The table itself was also an issue in that it wasn't level and kept tipping from side to side. Other than those two issues we had a nice dinner overall."

"Better then expected... I stumbled upon this place online so my wife and I gave it a try. Everything we had was good, wife enjoyed the pretzels while I munched on wings and the jalapeno bacon. We tried numerous beers which were pretty good except the one with spruce tips was kinda odd, but I appreciated the try given the season. I plan to stop by again next time we are in Normal!"

"My wife and I love going to this place. Great food and good beer. We may as well have not even made a reservation through open table though. Had a reservation for 8:15, got there at 8, not a big deal to wait 15 minutes we thought. Didn't end up getting seated till 8:45. Not sure if this was an open table issue or Distihl reservation issue. Seems like they booked too many tables for the number of time slots they had. Great dinner once we got seated, just an annoying way to get there."

"Although the restaurant looks as if it could be a chain, it is not. It is locally owned and operated, both on the brewery and the restaurant side. The menu is creative, with unusual combinations like poblano pepper stuffed with Indian samosa-flavored vegetables. We had the Braised Pork Shank and the Thai Fried Chicken and both were really good. Banana cream pie is to die for. The Matt has won several brewing awards, especially for his sour beers. People who like fruit beers will also be happy with Destihl (even tho fruit beer is just WRONG). A great addition to the local food scene."

"Although Destihl has great food, once again it's the service that make the whole experience brilliant. Our server, Kaitlin, was attentive, timely, funny, and went above and beyond for us. We were having a late lunch meeting to go over some designs for an upcoming production and while updating a sketch, my pencil broke. Kaitlin noticed this and offered to sharpen it for me back in their office. Where else would you get that kind of service. Bravo - Destihl - and pay Kaitlin well as you definitely want to keep her around to continue to make your service exceptional..."

"This is our second trip to Destihl in Normal, IL. The first time, we left without being seated when the hostess said there would be a 15 minute wait for a table when there were many tables open and no one else waiting. This time, for dinner, we had reservations at 6:00 p.m. No tables available, so we waited, with others who also had reservations, for approx. 20 minutes. The waiter was friendly and attentive, but the service was a bit slow. Food was good, noisy place, though, so maybe not the place if you want a more intimate environment to have a conversation in. I will give this place one more try, but honestly, if they don't get the hostess/seating thing right this time, that's it for me."

"The food was absolutely outstanding. We started off with an order of the ancho chips and dip, as well as the small plate of chorizo-stuffed bacon-wrapped dates. While you only get 3 dates on the plate, they were phenomenal. The chips came with both vinegar and ancho ranchero dips. My wife had the duck confit pot pie, while I had the espresso-glazed ribeye. My wife loved her pot pie, especially the assortment of vegetables that were inside (including zucchini). My ribeye was gigantic and was perfectly cooked with just the right amount of red in the middle. The espresso glaze added a unique flavor that greatly accentuated the meat. It was served with Swiss chard and potatoes. The chard was good, but the potatoes were rather plain and simple."

"Our server was great with making sure we were taken care of. I have been here twice and the only thing that makes me upset is how long it takes to get our food. We ordered around 6:30 and we didn't get our food for about 45 min which is ridiculous and I think something should be done about that. Everything else was wonderful and I will for sure be coming back again but hopefully next time I won't have to wait so long for food."

"Distihl is one of my favorite places to eat. This particular night was my birthday. Because I am aware that this is a popular dining choice I made a reservation. I arrived approximately 5 minutes after my reservation time. I was then asked to wait until a table was available. This took about 15-20 minutes. This was a suprise to me. My guest was a first time diner to Distihl. I think it was a slight turn off to her that we did need to wait so long, considering it was a Tuesday, we had a reservation, and we were 5 minutes late.
Once seated, the service was excellent and the food was fabulous!! Overall, the experience was good and I would not have spent my birthday any place else."

"We go as a group here on a weekly basis as the varied menu covers a wide range of tastes. We tend to stick to the seafood sides of the menu, as steaks are not their sweet spot. Beers and wine are excellent and wait staff is knowlegeable on making recommendation."

"I adored the shrimp pesto pizza. It was really large and luckily I had a friend with to help me finish it. He had the cuban sandwich w/fries. It was very tasty but the bottom bun was soggy and the fries were a little chewy like they had been sitting around for a bit.
The craft beer draft selection was great. I love how you can get 4oz. samples of all of them for $1 to $1.50 each. We sampled 5 out of maybe 12 or so choices. Their brewing expertise has definitely matured as the beer tasted much better than it did early on when they first started up."

"I've visited Destihl many times and the food continues to be of good quality. On this visit I had the scallops and they were cooked very well and the meal came out hot. Did I mention the cheese curds to start off with? Yeah, they're fried but they are very good. The restaurant is vibrant and energetic. The waiter was helpful in selecting beers for the flight of 4 ounce samplers. I particularly liked the red.

"Prices were too high for just average food. We were celebrating a birthday which we told them about. At the end of the meal we get the "sales pitch" for the card we have to fill out to get the smores birthday dessert free. Took away from the celebration. Plus now i have another card to carry in my wallet just to get what most restaurants provide free. I don't mind paying for a good meal but this was far too crowded (people were constantly stepping over the back of my daughters chair to get through, it was ridiculous), very noisy, average food and the birthday celebration was just very forced and not fun. He had the nerve to come out and announce that he took the price of the s'mores dessert off. Extremely unlikely we will ever return."

"We absolutely love DESTIHL! My only regret is that we don't have one in Chicago. The food is out of this world and the service is just incredible. You're greeted the moment you walk in and when you're seated, the staff is right there - friendly, professional and helpful in the event you have any questions about the menu. The menu has quite a variety, everything is fresh and delicious. I highly recommend DESTIHL! Just a phenomenal restaurant."
