Tapeo Restaurant and Tapas Bar
Tapeo offers great Spanish food in a European atmosphere. With authentic Spanish decor Tapeo can accommodate guests in two different dining rooms, whether it be near a fire place or large window overlooking Newbury Street in our Flamenco Dining Room or in a dim lite nook in our downstairs Bodega Room. We offer classic entrees, over 40 regional tapas, and a comprehensive, all-Spanish wine, sherry and spirits list. Tapeo also has outdoor seating, weather permitting. Thanks to a first-class pedigree (Somerville's award-winning Dali shares the same ownership) and an even better location (the heart of Newbury Street), Tapeo is easily the city's most popular Spanish restaurant.

"A very good tapas bar. Four of us had eight tapas and a bottle of Rioja. Several of the tapas were ones we hadn't tried before and seven of the eight were excellent - thel last one only so-so. Of course, sitting outdoors and watching the Newbury street scene is lots of fun and not too noisy except for a few obnoxiously loud motorcycles. Service was relaxed but not overly so and very friendly. Highly recommend for a nice summer night. We went early (5 PM) with reservations - seated immediately."

"We had a fun evening of tapas and sangria. We ended up with seven tapas which was more than enough food for two. The Jamon Serano was wonderful so we had two plates while the stuffed figs and octopus salad were just OK. The scallops in saffron sauce and the ceviche were good. The service was prompt and friendly but the down stairs seating section was dark (many people were reading the menu by cell phone light) and dungeon-like. Go for a fun time sharing different tapas, but don't expect great cuisine. And try to sit outside if possible."

"I love this restaurant and find myself returning consistently when I return to Boston, even when I feel I should try something new! The food is wonderful and I am always happier trying many small dishes than having one large plate before me. Diverse options, fair pricing, delicious food! I have been going to Tapeo and before that, Dali, for many years, beginning in the 90's (if I recall)."

"Restaurant advertised validated parking at the Pru garage on their Open Table page. When I got to the restaurant they told me that was no longer true. So I was going to have to pay $28 instead of $12 to park. I brought this to the attention of the manager who agreed that it was "tough luck" for me. No apology, no offer to credit my bill, no dessert on the house - no nothing. If you like to go to restaurants that care about their customers satisfaction, then I wouldn't go to Tapeo. Food is formula Spanish, nothing special. Service disinterested."

"Although we were off to rough start in the beginning (we had made a reservation for 8:30pm and weren't seated until around 9:15pm), the service and amazing food more than made up for it! Not to mention a round of sangria free of charge! The food was absolutely delicious, and it was wonderful getting to try so many different dishes for a reasonable price. I was with a group of 6 people, and were all able to converse freely and easily with one another since the space was well organized for all group types. Scrumptious food, tasty sangria, great ambiance, perfect, relaxing setting for a Friday night outing! Or any time really. Enjoy!"

"The food was absolutely fantastic. We were lucky enough to order their smokey seafood paella and it was a treat!!!
The tapas before the paella were delicious as well. The battered strawberries were incredible and lighter than I anticipated. My husband doesn't usually sing the praises of the meal while we are still in the restaurant but he couldn't help himself! So grateful to have discovered this fun, delicious and authentic tapas restaurant in Boston in one of it's poshest neighborhoods."

"After a trip to Spain, my daughter was excited to have our family enjoy the tapas at Tapeo. It was our first time there. The overall experience was nice and the tapas were decent. However, we also ordered two pitchers of sangria for our table of six. The size of the pitchers were somewhat disappointing. In short, these pitchers were approximately half the size of a typical "Sangria" sized pitcher. So we were slightly shocked to see just how TINY they were! So, $60+ for two petite pitchers of sangria was a major let down. Otherwise, cute place."

"My girlfriend and I visited Tapeo for an early Saturday dinner. We ordered the pulpo afeira, which was tender and flavorful. The pollo al ajillo was slightly disappointing due to the sauce's consistency, which resembled a garlic sauce from a Chinese restaurant. The berry sangria was delicious, but we failed to appreciate it fully because we were fully let down by the seafood paella. After eating seafood paella in Harlem a while back, I greatly anticipated this dish. For $30, it was a terrible selection. The rice was burned to the pan and the dire lack of saffron left the dish flavorless. When the dish arrived, it was blatantly obvious that the meal was subpar. The peas were shriveled and displayed a lifeless green."

"I love Tapeo. The food is excellent. But this last visit, I was offended be the service.
We arrived for our 6pm reservation and were promptly taken to our table. Soon after we were greeted by our server Ricardo B.
I am pregnant and asked about nonalcoholic beverages and it was downhill from there.
Ricardo clearly wasn't interested in our business and wanted table turnover. He disappeared after taking our order, he didn't ask if we wanted more drinks and dropped the check without offering coffee of dessert, which we had to ask for."

"Great Spanish food and wine - an authentic experience. We eat here whenever in Boston. We tend to stick with the chorizo, goat cheese, jamon, and torta. I had been telling our friends about the spectacular garlicky chicken but, it turns out that the original authentic-tasting recipe has been replaced by a sweet and sour chicken recipe better suited to a Panda Express. Still, there are plenty of items to love on the menu so we will be back!"

"It was ten or fifteen minutes between being seated and being greeted and having our drink order taken. When the server finally arrived, my date and I, both former servers ourselves, agreed that she was all attitude. The food was pretty good, but not good enough to rescue the experience. "Tapas r always gr8 for trying different and new things. good for a group so u could sample many different things. overall food was good with a couple of excellents in the mix. Waitress was pleasant. Food was good and not rushed at all...i don't mean it was slow just that everything came out in a timely manner without having to gulp down the last bite of the previous portion. Lamb was a bit over done but the duckling in berry sauce was amazing. The spinach potato crepe was yummy. The beef on tostados with pimento was a bit overdone but good flavor. Bacon wraped cheese filled prunes was a really nice texture. Too sweet for me but everyone else rated it as one of the best, so if u lie sweet go for that one. Only draw back was how loud it was."

"I love Tapeo. They have small plates that will please everyone in your group. If you're not sure how much to order, no worries . . . they will help you decided and encourage you to order more if you feel like that was not not enough. I like that they are flexible. "Tapeo hosted my sister-in-law's Bachelorette Dinner and we had a fabulous time. We had delicious tapas and the seafood paella for our main and it was just the right amount of food for five ladies. Our server was very nice and even brought us a second pitcher of Sangria on the house. We stayed for over 2 hours talking and drinking and never felt rushed. It was a perfect evening and I will definitely go back for another girls night out."
