1300 on Fillmore is a restaurant and lounge that draws on the rich cultural history of San Francisco's Fillmore Jazz District. The restaurant serves "Soulful American" Cuisine, accompanied by a list of the finest California wines.
Soulful American Cuisine prepared as interpreted by internationally recognized chef David Lawrence. Lawrence combines classic French cooking techniques with hints of southern flavors using fresh, California seasonal ingredients. His north-meets-south cuisine includes imaginative creations such as dungeness crab and corn cakes, fresh water shrimp hush puppies, as well as refined interpretations of
southern favorites including macaroni and cheese and okra succotash.
Highlights include a heritage wall with portraits of the Fillmore’s vast array of blues and jazz legends. The
décor is eclectic and familiar, achieved by co-mingling vintage-inspired fabrics with modern interpretations of classic furnishings.

"We really enjoyed the live jazz and brunch on Mother's Day. Actually, every Sunday the restaurant has a live jazz brunch. The food menu is limited. I ordered the 1300 egg breakfast, which was good an filling. My husband had a salad, which left him hungry. The kids shared french toast and loved it. I had an excellent Bloody Mary with my brunch. The music was excellent! I saw large parties and tables of two. They have a lovely bar and lounge that is separate from the music, but you can still hear it. I imagine the bar scene would be great in the evenings. I would return for dinner and music without the kids next time."

"1300 on Fillmore has been one of my favorite restaurants for a while now. This was the first time dining at the restaurant on a major holiday. I have to say, I was very disappointed. The food was bland, non of the dishes had any flavor at all. The chef was not allowing any substitutions in the menu and the service by the waiter was bad. The only thing that was absolutely fantastic was the Gospel set; they were fabulous.
I am going to continue to dine at 1300 on Filmore but will most likely pass on frequenting the business during the holiday season."

"I had 2 days to plan a dinner for my family and this place was amazing. They were able to accommodate a change in the party from 6 to 7 when they called to confirm the reservation a day in advance. We had early reservations, dinner at 515. We were promptly seated and the sweet waitress understood we were pressed on time and had a demanding 4 year old with us. Our water glasses were never empty and the service was impeccable. Altho the food wasn't highly memorable, everyone seemed to be enjoying their entres. The best part of the meal was definitely the dessert with the waitress suggesting an amazing chocolate cake. My picky Asian parents liked the food and my dad, who never eats anything but Asian liked his steak & potatoes. Will be back!!"

"The food was tasty and delicious ! The decor is beautifully done and inviting. The ambiance really sets the tone for the meal , a good date night spot. What would stop me from frequenting here would be the price point. $28 for the pork chop with veggies, no starch. Then $9 for tax , tip, healthy SF. $6 for parking(no validation). So a total of $43 for one plate of food, no drink. I know that high prices come with living in San Francisco but for me it's just too much except for a special occasion ."

"The Sunday brunch left a lot to be desired. It was very expensive and boring food. All three diners were so disappointed in the flavor and quantity of food served. For one salad, two entrees of "chicken fingers on top of a dense pile of mashed potatoes" along with a basket of small breads cost $112. Coffee and Tea were $4 a cup and we were charged $6 surcharge to hear a jazz group which was so loud it drove us out of the restaurant. We won't be back and would not recommend. Loud"

"In our eagerness to experience This Little Bit of Heaven we passed the mystery entrance twice! (a narrow door just on the the corner). The staff: positive, friendly, answered ALL questions–very helpful offering suggestions – cocktails, wine, entrees. From the accurate/ detailed website, being a little early, we started in the Lounge, tried the Caipirinha, the Jazzberry Martini and the BBQ Chicken Sliders. On to dinner, ordered a Special and the Lamb Tenderloin Pre-Fixe and side of Buttermilk Chive Mashed Potatoes. 5 stars out of 4! Lovely cornbread starter, OH! Bonus: Even though 2 parking garages are extremely close, the Parking Angel smiled at a spot just steps from entrance, so a good mood floated us into 1300. Definitely going back!"

"We have been here a few times. My husband likes it a lot, great flavor to beef with sides that are unique and well prepared (sweet potato and greens). I really enjoy the soups, they make great soups. There is one vegetarian main, and it is very good (not bland and boring like most places). The desserts are SO AWESOME! This would be a good date place, but not if you are on first date... it's pretty noisy!"

"Our greeter was just wonderful. She made accommodations for us as we were late for our reservation due to traffic. We were seeing a show at Yoshi's and she saw to it that we were cared for immediately . Our server George was extremely knowledgable a out the menu and gave us wonderful recommendations. He was also attentive with our time constraint and served us promptly. The food was amazing...wish they were just a little moe generous with the tasty cornbread.based on the food and the personal service, 1300 Filmore will be a repeat for us in future!"

"This restaurant was a great surprise. We went there only because we couldn't get reservations at Yoshi's next door. Upon asking for help with pairing wine with desired entree, the waiter graciously brought two tastings first so I could decide. Wonderful! Then the salad was dressed superbly. I can't remember remarking on such excellence even compared with Chez Panisse. Ditto the entrees: mine was the Scallops in red wine anise glaze. The scallops were meltingly tender and the sauce subtle and very tasty. The star anise did not overpower but rather mingled perfectly. My partner's Grilled Rainbow Trout was also great. In all, I would definitely go back, over and over!"

"I hadn't been to 1300 in quite some time. I was there with a friend for his birthday. We both enjoyed our meals and would definitely go back. I had the prix fixe: roasted beet salad w/spiced pecans & Pt. Reyes blue cheese, lamb tenderloin, roasted artichokes, spring onions, ramps and buttermilk panna cotta which was served w/carrot cake and candied fennel. The panna cotta which was very good did not need any accompaniments. My dinner companion also had the beet salad, pan roasted house cured pork chop, carrot ginger puree, port wine poached rhubarb. "This was my second visit to 1300 on Fillmore and left very satisfied on both occasions. I can't think of another place in the City that offers a similar menu in terms of the Southern influence. That alone makes it a treat - it's nice to veer off the path and have a different eating experience. What makes the menu superb, though, is the variety and magination that went into it. And, the chef delivers. Fresh, delicious, sophisticated but not overdone. Our waiter was knowledgable, pleasant and only there when we needed him."

"The bar was very relaxing and a nice place to unwind. The restaurant's decor is beautiful and the food and service were very good. We let the waiter know that we were celebrating a birthday and he brought out a dessert for our friend. However, it was surprising and disappointing that we were charged for this dessert--even after spending over $500 on the dinner for five people!"

"We had some highs and lows when it came to the food. We had a party of 4. Most of the appetizers were really good...the BBQ shrimp and grits were a standout. Most of our mains where alright but not great. I had the catfish which was average. My wife had the short ribs which were good but not memerable. A friend had the Fried chicken which was fine but not really all that elevated. Part of the issue, is that the prices are such that expectations were really high and the food did not measure up to that."

"Went for my BF's birthday and was blown away by the service. The staff went out of their way to accommodate our group. The bartender stayed past last call after a few friends showed up after dinner and the lounge let us stay past closing.
The inside is beautiful--low lit and classy but also very comfy. Cocktails and beer (an amber draft, I think) were excellent.
The food was a bit pricey for standard dinner fare, but worth it considering how accommodating the staff was.
Thanks for giving my BF a 5-star birthday!"

"First Experience There was awesome. This particular time... I would have to say that the food was simply not good. Prime Rib was requested Medium and was received overcooked. We were seeing a show, so we had no time to send back. Shrimp and Grits were not flavorful as an appetizer. Catfish was good, however the Jambalaya on the entree was rice overcooked, and came off with an oatmeal type dexterity. I was trying to decide if 1300 was better than Pican's in Oakland. Now I no for sure... they are not by any stretch. Ambiance was great.... If food was well prepared, I would probably change my opinion."

"This was a birthday celebration the food was good and we enjoyed the ambiance. I am a foodie so my expectations are high. The food is not the traditional "soul" food selection. The portions are moderate, which is fine and the preparation uses high level ingredients which for me is very important.
There is an obvious Southern style influence but with healthy California style preparation. I wish that we had more time but we had a show to see next door. We will be back. We told the waiter our timeline and the food came out with enough time for us to enjoy. Thanks to our waiter."

"FANTASTIC Experience. There are 2 seatings for the "Gospel Brunch" 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM. It was my first time, celebrated my sister's and my birthday Mar 1 and 2). We tried 4 entrees and they were each very good. We even re-ordered a second order of the fried chicken...we ordered bottomless mimosa and the pastry basket, with a nice sample of pastries. The entertainment was lively and interactive with some of the patrons. Everyone had a great time. Public Parking is right around the corner or street parking was also convenient. We've booked a return reservation for Easter Sunday!"

"This was our 1st & last time to the restaurant. Both meals were a let down & to top it off the desert we wanted was the only one they ran out of.
Baby Back Ribs were the special, I figured how could I go wrong with the special. The ribs had been cooked with a dry rub that was flavorless and 2 sauces to choose from. Neither tasted like a BBQ sauce, which would have been fine if they tasted good.
My friend ordered the Black Skillet Fried Chicken, a specialty of the house, which supposedly took 20 minutes to prepare. It got to the table within 10. The chicken had too much batter & very little gravy on the potatoes.
And the noise level was so high you couldn't have a decent conversation."

My only complaint is the noise level, which makes conversation all but impossible without shouting. "I had a farro dish, that while very, very tasty, was not exactly what I was expecting. Maybe the grain was cooked too long, and the dish may have been made with cream which wasn't indicated on the menu, but the farro was on the mushy side."
