"This was our first meal on our honeymoon stay 3 years ago. We loved it then and love it still! You MUST try the Shrimp and Grits Fritters. They were phenomenal. My husband had a rib eye and enjoyed it. I had the salmon on brussle sprouts and loved it! The outdoor seating is one of the most relaxing spots in Charleston and the staff was friendly and welcoming. Can't wait to go back!"

"We went to 82 Queen following my son's graduation from the College of Charleston. Two members of our party ordered the Shrimp and Grits. Both had intestinal problems the rest of the day. Others ordered dishes with grits so that was not the problem. Stay away from the shrimp and the sauce.
Other than that problem, the rest of the dinners were great. The service was attentive. We sat outside in a beautiful garden and really enjoyed ourselves."

"Highly recommended by South Carolina friend and resident, we headed off to this restaurant, having almost cancelled because we felt like a more casual, low-key meal in a local restaurant - there are many wonderful ones. The recommendations kept coming, so we kept our booking and wish we had followed our own instinct. The meal was a huge disappointment. My husband had the scallops and the meal was bland and unremarkable - I had the duck and it was overdone, over-spiced (I love spice!), and the same spicy flavour killed all sublety of flavour in all the accompanying vegetables. Can't recommend, sorry!"

"We went to 82 Queen some years ago for dinner and were so impressed we decided to try it again on our trip to Charleston. We had an inside table for dinner, but ate outside for lunch - and it was COLD. We sat under a glass roofed portion of the cobble stone courtyard, so would have been somewhat protected had it rained. The uneven floor caused my chair to rock every time I moved. Thankfully, the waiter was courteous and helpful and the food arrived quickly at the table, so we were in and out in an hour. The most enjoyment we had was from watching a resident bird hop around (unnoticed by the wait staff) and take its pick of foodstuffs off the discarded plates.
Overall, lunch was not the dinner experience we so fondly remembered."

"I spent a lot of time studying reviews prior to choosing 82 Queen for our evening in Charleston. Granted it was raining; however, we had to walk through a deep puddle to get in the door, we were met by an uninterested hostess and seated in a covered outside location that might have been nice on a pretty evening. We were cold, wet and had to watch the hostess take other customers to inside locations while we were eating. The food and the waiter were ok; however, we left with impression that we were tourists who had made 82 Queen reservations on Open Table and the establishment had no interest in taking care of us. I will certainly be more hesitant in the future and I would caution other Open Table users to avoid this restaurant."

"Happy find! We trusted the ratings from Open Table and were NOT disappointed. The setting is an old house and patio that have been beautifully converted, so the intimacy is adorable but not too romantic for a business meal. We had to walk through the "living room" then patio, around the back and into a side door for our table. It really gave the feel of being welcomed into someone's home for dinner - charming (it might be difficult for anyone with mobility challenges). The food was great; showing off homey southern food in a very upscale way. I couldn't have been happier with our pick. Without a doubt, I will return the next time I'm in Charleston."

"My husband and I have been to 82 Queen several times before and have always enjoyed it. The one disappointing factor in this visit was our seating (location). The restaurant was not busy and our service was good. However, there were two women seated in the same area as we were and although they were finished with their meal, the lingered for quite some time. One was "teaching" the other how to use a smart phone or ipad of some sort and their conversation drowned out anything we would have like to say to each other. I don't know how the restaurant staff could have graciously moved them on, but I certainly wish that they could have. Otherwise, it was a lovely visit."

"Everything was going well...then the darnedest thing happened! After we were served our meal, our server disappeared! A good ten minutes went by and another server (they were working together) came by and gave us our check!! I had spoken with our primary server upon arrival to let him know it was our daughter's birthday and asked if they did anything special? He informed me they did not but did have cancels to place into her dessert selection. The dessert with a candle and us singing happy birthday was the or was going to be the highlight of our daughter's evening. This has never happened to us----very strange, actually. So......we paid our check and went to Kaminsky's for dessert and coffee!!"

"Had a very good experience here. We arrived 30 minutes before our reservation. The bar was hopping as we waited for our table. Bartenders were nice and efficient. Five minutes to our reservation time a thunderstorm hit Charleston with a downpour. As much of the seating is in the courtyard and you have to walk through the courtyard to get to any of the tables, seating was temporarily stalled. It was interesting to watch the staff handle the situation which they did with charm. They did not seem phased by the rain, in fact servers were coming to the bar in the pouring rain to fulfill table drink orders. Despite the delay in seating we had a table within 20 minutes of our reservation time. Food and service was great!"

"Many who visited or lived in Charleston recommended it. I was early so I sat at the bar until my friends arrived. Mojito was resh and perfect for the warm weather. Friends liked their drink, "firefly". We were taken to a small room with four tables for dining. The room would be suitable for a group of up to 20 or 25 for a private party. The restaurant had many small rooms and it seems to be converted from a residence. We had She Crab Soup, Eggplant Fritter drizzled with rosemary honey as appetizer, Scallop with grits, softshell crab, or sauages as main. The quantity about right and the food tasty. I gave only three stars because of the high sodium use. Unlike other restaurants I ate in Charleston, the food was quite salty."

"Great food, just beware that if you go during one of the Summer Thunderstorms, you may get wet. We sat in the covered area outside and our feet got soaked due to the flooding, and since it is open from the covered area to the bar area we got soaked when we were leaving. But that is Charleston at this time year, and as we all know that live in the area - downtown is notorious for flooding."

"This was our second dining experience at 82 Queen. The cheddar biscuits were very good. The She-Crab soup, award winning, was very good, but not the best we had tasted in Charleston. "Food was very good and if that is all you go to a restaurant for....go. The courtyard was very nice although a little....Boca Ratonish for me....The service was the real problem. Aside from the entree coming 20 minutes after I finished my app....they were all just untrained, unprofessional kids. Excuse me for saying, but in a restaurant city like Charleston you need everything to be very good to great or you don't stack up. Train your wait staff. They are your interface to your customers.....
There are too many other really good restaurants in this city...I won't be returning."
