"I met a friend for lunch and the noise level was deafening! We were seated upstairs, and directly over the bar area, making it difficult to hold a conversation. The food is consistently good, our service was EXCELLENT, but overall I prefer the Vinings location."

"We visited South City Kitchen for brunch on Mother's Day. They had a three course fixed price menu, with many options available. I had the slow and low cooked pork with cole slaw, the crab cake benedict and the peach cobbler. My husband had the fried green tomatoes, shrimp and grits and chocolate Elvis cake.
The food didn't seem up to their current standards. My crab cake benedict was extremely greasy, the egg was fried instead of poached. I've had better peach cobbler at Roaster's. Shrimp & grits were good, but nothing special. While the service was friendly, it felt rushed. Like we were on a quick timetable, even though there were empty tables around us.
I plan to return in the future (not on a holiday), hoping my experience differs."

"I dined at South City Kitchen with 5 colleagues on a recent evening. We were seated upstairs. The food was as good as I expected it to be, but I might as well have dined alone as the noise level was SO HIGH that we had to shout to be heard. It wasn't just us -- the waitress assigned to our table also had to yell to be heard by all at the table at one time.
The problem was such that I will avoid the restaurant in the evening from this point on — it's all fine and good to spend money on good food (and the food IS good at South City Kitchen) but if you can't speak to your table mates without screaming, the experience is greatly diminished."

"The staff were really friendly and very flexible. We had a large group and we had to change the number of people and time of our reservation more than once, but SCK accommodated us without any problems. The waitress was very knowledgeable about the food and wine, friendly, and so patient with our group of 10+. The food was very delicious. We ordered a lot of items off the appetizer (fried green tomatoes, onion tart, etc.) and the side menu (mac n' cheese, collard green something), and dinner menu (fried chicken and shrimp n' grits, etc.). Everything we ordered was fantastic."

"The food was outstanding...always is. This is a consistently wonderful restaurant that we frequent when going to the theater, as we live in the burbs. At South City, they are gracious & flexible (we brought 5; but had only reserved for 4), attentive and all-around great. The red grouper and vegetarian plates were outstanding. "Unbelievable noise - bad decision to have dinner there with friends we haven't seen in years. Thursday night at 6:30 and a bowling alley would have been quieter.
My dinner - scallops and crab cake were mediocre. Blackened cabbage (evidently a specialty) overpowered the taste of the dishes."

"Updated southern food. Good cocktail menu. I had the I-75 and my husband had southern thyme lemonade. Both were very good. We had the vidalia onion tart for a starter. Served with corn bread and biscuits. Cornbread good - made with kernel corn = but it is sweet cornbread. Biscuits were among the best I have ever had. I had the fish special - pan fried flounder. Cooked perfectly - no breading - just well cooked fish. Served over a perfectly creamy english pea risotto. Husband won tho - he had perfectly fried buttermilk fried chicken served over real mashed potatoes and collard greens even people who don't like collard greens would like. We had a great table overlooking crescent Avenue facing a happening club."

"We had a very nice dinner before a Pops concert at the symphony. It is around the corner from the Arts Center and so convenient to go to before a show. The wine that was recommended was good and everyone I was with enjoyed the meal. I had the trout which was good. We prefer to sit "outside" as it is quieter.(it is still protected from the elements) There is a lot of energy inside and the wit staff is very attentive."
