The Elephant Walk serves Award-Winning Cambodian and French cuisine. We also feature strong VEGETARIAN and GLUTEN-FREE menus! With so much depth and breadth to our menus, both exotic and familiar, we have something for just about everyone. Cambodian cooking is beautiful and delicious, but still rare in America. Less hot and sweet than Thai, richer and more complex than Vietnamese, the complex spice pastes that are the foundation of many Cambodian dishes reflect Cambodia’s Indian ancestry. Our Cambodian menu features both traditional Cambodian dishes and originals created by our Chef/Owners Longteine and Nadsa de Monteiro, a Cambodian mother-daughter team born and raised in Phnom Penh. Why French too? Cambodia was a French colony for a century, ending in the 1950s. Consequently, our chef-owners were French-educated and grew up speaking French and enjoying French cuisine too. In other words, our Cambodian-and-French theme is an authentic reflection of…us!
"All around great dining experience. The pace of service was superb, and the waiters were very friendly and helpful. It felt like a very organized restaurant and there were no hitches. The food was delicious and very different in the best of ways. Just an awesome place with awesome food."

"We were looking for a place to eat and saw that Elephant Walk took reservations unril 10pm. As soon as we were seated, we were told the kitchen was closed but could still order. We were then promptly rushed through our dinner and sent on our way. The noise level was loud and encouraged patrons to leave. Only members of the kkitchen staff were friendly."

"The Elephant Walk in Cambridge is an excellent choice for a romantic dinner or for a moderate sized group to spend a leisurely dinner. The service is always first rate and the food is usually very good. We tried the prix fixe menu for the first time (Chef's Recommendation's-four course) and we were very happy with the results. The wine list is solid, not outstanding, but the choices are all usually good pairings with the various options on the menu. The Amok Royal is a standout among the standard menu
Highly recommended!"

"The staff at The Elephant Walk in Cambridge (Porter Square) are exceptionally rude. The food is fair, but not nearly good enough to be worth putting up with the staff. Thankfully there are other restaurants nearby with better food and MUCH better service."

"Since our reservation was 9:30 & we were a little late the kitchen was closing at 10, we had to order quickly. The waitress was helpful but when my appetizer came it was lukewarm & not as good as I've had before. The catfish dish was not particulay tasty which surprised me since I've always enjoyed the food here. The lesson may be, don't Make a reservation for 9:30 PM. I'm glad we had a groupon. I have one for Waltham as well so we'll see how that is."

"Excellent food and great for a group out for a nice meal! We did have to wait about 20 minutes even though we had a reservation. They ended up opening up another room to service those of us who had been waiting a long time and were apologetic about the wait. Overall a great dining experience! I recommend the vegan egg rolls and the passionfruit dessert! Delicious!"

"This was our first time coming to your restaurant and we came to celebrate our anniversary. I was very appreciative that we were seated at a wonderful table by the window. I enjoyed as well the beautiful ambiance and interior of your restaurant. My fiancé and I are both vegetarian and we looked forward this reservation knowing that we had several options to choose from. The appetizer vegan spring rolls were simply incredible. The salads, entrees (curry and "risotto") and dessert (chocolate torte), however, simply were not great to be frank. They seemed flavorless and bland and we chose to not take them home. We appreciate your vegetarian offerings and hope to perhaps try to come again in the future and have a better experience."

"We went for lunch during restaurant week. Great menu - love that they have vegan versions of items so that there's plenty of choices for everyone. Everything was tasty - well presented and pleasant portions. Couldn't fault a thing. Will definitely go back again, and perhaps try one of the other branches sometime too."

"The food was a B- and service was just OK. We went on a Saturday night during Restaurant Week, so I don't know if it was just super-busy or if that's how it is normally, but service was minimal and the food was underwhelming. We felt like we were in a much lower-end restaurant, almost like we were at the Border Cafe in Harvard Square except the food was French and Cambodian instead of Mexican and Cajun, and the atmosphere was classy instead of rustic. There were several large groups (parties and business groups) in our seating area, so it wasn't a great place for a romantic dinner on a Saturday night."

"I went for restaurant week, which I feel should be a good time for restaurants to shine, and possibly gain new patronage. The crepe de canar aux champignons (duck crepe) was amazing, however the boeuf bouruignon was tasteless and overcooked and the mashed potatoes were dry. The only thing with flavor was the sauce, but even then it wasn't worth it. I was shocked at such a difference in taste/flavor from one dish to the other. Although, I suppose it is restaurant week and it can't be denied that some restaurants use that as an excuse to test new, perhaps more economical, recipes.
Aside from that, the service was great, and I had an excellent glass of Carmel Road Monterey Pinot Noir. I would just beware the food; it could be hit or miss."

"My companion and I absolutely LOVED our time at Elephant Walk. The food was absolutely incredible--we were exclaiming at each course. It is certainly my favorite restaurant that I've been to in Cambridge thus far, and I've been to quite a few of the fancier ones. The price (we both did Prix Fixe) is INCREDIBLE for the quality (and quantity!) of food you receive. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone looking for a place to have a nice and delicious dinner that is worth every penny."

"the Elephant Walk always delights with beautifully prepared Cambodian and French dishes, a constantly updated menu and lovely additions such as local beers and new wines. their prix fix menu is a delicious 3 course meal that is also a terrific value. I have returned many many times and am always amazed!"

"It's been a while since our last trip to the Elephant Walk. The menu continues to stake out a fairly unique position by blending French and Cambodian cuisines. Though neither the French nor the Cambodian matches that available elsewhere, the combination works well. They could aspire to more, but the food is solid and the dining experience a pleasure. If you haven't been there, I recommend a visit."

"The appetizers were delicious, but the mains were slightly disappointing. I liked the menu, and would give this another chance. We were early for our reservation, so sat down at the bar. In 20 minutes, the bartender didn't even take notice of us."

"Haven't dined here in quite some time, and don't think I will be repeating. Rude server and over priced food on this particular trip totally ruined the food portion of an otherwise great night in Cambridge."

"Have always enjoyed this restaurant. However, I made a 7pm reservation, checked in ,on time. we were told it wouLd be" just a few minutes". We waited half an hour to be seated, with many empty tables that were set and no explanation. Several other couples came in, when we did and were seated almost immediately. It seemed a bit rude and we weren't sure why. It wouldn't keep me from going back, but why bother to make an Open Table reservation? Just walk in and take your chances."

"The Elephant Walk in Cambridge is fantastic! The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is wonderful and most importantly the food is incredibly delicious.

"I have come to Elephant Walk on a few occasions, and this was by far the best experience. We came to elephant for a celebration dinner and everything was perfect. We asked to be seated against a wall (for a little more privacy) and I felt like they gave us the best table in the whole place--tucked in a little nook away from the noisyness of the middle fo the restaurant. It was completely perfect. Our server was delightful and attentive while also giving us our space. Elephant Walk is by far one of my favorite restaurants."

"Groupon took us back to a restaurant we love but that has become too pricey over the years to be a frequent destination. Food was excellent, as always. Entrees arrived less than warm after a long wait. We were by that time too hungry to send them back. So the 3 for service is for the initial snag. When we mentioned this to our server, he offered us dessert on the house as recompense. We'll certainly be back."

"We were seated in a basement room where the door to a smelly storage room was open. They closed the door after we were seated. The food was mediocre, not at all what I remember from a past visit several years ago. The service was fine and friendly, but the food has declined in a major way at this location."

"I am a big fan of Elephant Walk and overall I enjoyed this past visit there. My only complaint would be that my server seemed a bit short/ annoyed by us taking our time during our meal. I think the only reason it annoyed me so much is that we continually ordered drinks etc and left a sizable tip. I am going to leave it to him having a bad day, I hope that's not his normal demeanor."

"I love this restaurant. There are few "nice" restaurants in my area that are also open for lunch. The range of food--French and Cambodian including many vegetarian and vegan options makes it suitable for a wide variety of tastes. The three-course fixed price lunch, which we enjoyed on Valentine's Day, is very reasonable. Great cocktails as well as a good wine list. And, for Cambridge, it's great to have a place with parking!"

"The waitperson was very accommodating but did recommend more food than we could eat. The salmon dish was very good though the salmon was slightly overcooked. Sharing the one dish was more than enough, so we took home most of the other dish."

"I have a soft spot for the elephant walk--always have from its humble union sq origins. The food is still excellent but the service could be more attentive--I saw our server literally running from table to table, but it took a while to get everything during our meal--water, menus, drinks, etc. thankfully we were in no hurry and the food was delicious, but if I am going to pay around $20 an entree, I expect more!"
