"Aside from my past visits to this great restaurant, this current visit was horrible. To make it worse, I had brought a first time customer there. Our server was what brought my experience down this time. We had to ask for something several times before we got the item and when dinner was finished and we asked to take, what was a lot of food, home it was never brought back to us. To make the matter worse, it was the first time customers leftovers.
It truly is a great restaurant where we go to enjoy fabulous food. Though this may not keep me away from the restaurant, it will make us think of other options that are available."

"My Open Table reservation was available BUT my request for our favorite server was ignored. I also mentioned it was my husband's 80th birthday, which went un noticed. We were seated at a very small booth which gave us little elbow room or room for the food selections. I did not assert myself. I did not want to embarass the inexperienced young hostess. Coach Grill is our favorite restaurant. The wait staff and food is the best in Metro West. We will certainly go back."

"Next month, it will be 15 years since I first asked my wife out on a date. Tina was my waitress when The Coach Grill was known as "Hillary's" ........ She waited tables over 4 years and became an "assistant manager" before they closed. The food was GREAT at Hillary's too.. The Coach Grill is even better now,... Tina had the steak "au poivre" and it was cooked to perfection and I had the "wood grilled Scallops" which were delicious !! We also had French Onion soup AND the Lobster Mac + Cheese and I HIGHLY recommend those appetizers ! The Coach Grill brings back great memories for us but its the great food that keeps us "returning to the scene of the crime""

"After eating couldn't figure out why it was so busy and hard to get into until I remembered The Pillar House and Mills Falls, all are restaurants that if in Boston would be out of business in three days. So a local pub with a slightly greater choice than bar food and it is the only game in town...so, busy. The steak was below average but what you get from Abe and Louie's a sister restaurant using their steak sauce. Service fine but unless we get another gift card will never go back."

"Coach Grill is always great. It is great for groups, children and romance! They are very accomodating for all kinds of groups or for just 2- 4 people. Some use it as a special occasion restaurant but why it is local, always good and one of my favorites! The staff is courteous and helpful. The food is consistent whether it is a busy weekend night or slowere during the week night."

"Our first time at the Coach Grill. From start to finish a lovely dining experience.
The reservation was waiting for us and we walked right in, no wait on a very busy Sat. night at prime dinner hour to a table in their private dining room....quiet, and nice ambience.
The cocktail was made perfectly, not always done so at other restaurants. Careful with the bread.....you could make a meal just with that. The ceasar salad was good and the anchovies were the real thing. The beef was about a good as it ever gets: tender, flavorful, cooked exactly right and seafood stuffing was quite nice. with the stuffed shrimp. The Butterscotch bread pudding was sinful. In all, a satisfying experience for a special ocassion. We will be back in the future."

"Lovely restaurant, excellent food, great wait staff. Went for a celebration dinner with my family, everyone was pleased. However the patrons of this restaurant seem very pretentious and conservative. By the way unlike some reviewers have noted, this is not a restaurant for children. "A special occasion dinner that met all our expectations. Our server Laura was professional yet engaging and energetic. Martinis and Cosmos were made by someone who obviously knows their craft. "The food and service was excellent. Unfortunately we were seated in such a way to observe two very professional woman conestantly texting while eating. This was distracting and resulted in the lower ambience rating. In fairness to Coach Grill its difficult if not impossible to judge patrons resturant manners as they enter the front door. Also we recognize the norms of ediquette are much different within different social groups and as such could be seated accordingly."

"My husband and I enjoyed an excellent dinner at Coach Grille recently. I had sea bass over spinach, which was delicious and he claimed the wood-grilled salmon was the best he'd ever eaten. An orchid in a glass cube adorned the white cloth table linen. There are tables and booths available for 2 or a large group. The black leather padding was quite comfy. The service was mostly good, though there was a longish wait between the table clearing after we finished our meals and the delivery of a dessert menu."

"I was so impressed by this restaurant - the decor was a little old-fashioned for me but it was impeccably clean and had a lively atmosphere. The food was fantastic, filet mignon was cooked absolutely perfect, and sides of garlic mashed and sauteed spinach were excellent. Our server was probably the best server I've ever had at any restaurant. He had a great sense of humor, was knowledgeable about every dish, and he was attentive without being overbearing. Overall, a wonderful experience all around."

"We go to Coach Grill about once a month. This time, as well as the last time, we had servers who poorly gauged the cadence of those they were serving. Our reservation was at 6:30 pm. We were served our meals at 8:25 pm. The restaurant was not busy, about 1/3 of tables with diners. The food was very good. We, and 3 other tables, sat as bar sitters ate quickly. The waitperson brought cake for "free" at the end, while we just wanted the check. Our "early" dinner ended at 9 pm. So, while we like the food, the past two times this was our service experience. I hope the manager, who never apologized to 3 of the 4 tables served by this person, gets the service level back to where they once were. Hard to recommend the restaurant until fixed."

"We waited at the desk for over 5 minutes before anyone came to seat us. The restaurant was fairly empty, and we had reservations. The bread and Caesar salad were good as was the salmon. Since I ordered the salmon wood grilled, I expected the accompanying asparagus to be wood grilled also. It was plain and not worth eating. My husband's $40 Delmonico steak was easily in the bottom half of those he has eaten, and he would NOT order it again. Our waitress did not return to see how everything was. We waited over 20 minutes for our desserts to be delivered, at which time one was cold and the other one had melted. We had to flag someone for a water refill. They took my husband's glass away and refilled it, leaving me with an empty glass."

"The reason that I am saying that the service was poor is due to the fact that my credit card was charged with the bill from the table next to us. The waiter appologized but I did not like that fact that a credit refund could not be granted. They assured me that it would come off my account in a few days but this kind of sloppiness was disconcerting. The other strange thing (I've eaten here hundreds of times) was that they always serve a warm loaf of bread when you first come in. This time there was no bread and we had to ask for it AFTER we had already eaten our appetizers. The waiter was a nice, friendly young man who just needed a little training."

"Coach could very well be the most consistently good restaurant in all of Metro West Boston. The good is always delicious and well prepared. Staff is very nice and always accommodating. Oysters are fresh and usually from diff parts of New England giving you a different look each time you visit. The meat is well-seasoned and I'm a fan of the small bar scene. K

"Our waiter, Kevin, was fantastic. One person in our party was drinking wine and he took the time to select a wine that would complement her food. The steaks were cooked to perfection! We normally like to sit on the bar side of the restaurant so that if we're loud, it's more acceptable. We were seated in the main dining room in a comfy booth against the back wall. This setup allowed us to have great group conversation. We had a fantastic night."

"Coach Grill is one of our favorite local spots, and we consider ourselves lucky to be "local" to it. This trip was to celebrate our daughter's 9th birthday, but we also go for anniversaries or large family celebrations (parents' birthdays). They have a children's menu, but will adjust anything on the regular menu to be kid-friendly, i.e. our daughter likes a filet oscar without the bernaise sauce and they served it with fries. The steaks are out of this world (try the filet on the bone for a treat!), and the service is impeccable. If you are going for a specific event (large group, romantic dinner, family meal, etc.), the staff will make sure that you are seated appropriately. Or just enjoy drinks and food at the bar-you can't go wrong"

"My husband and I were a little disapointed with Easter Sunday brunch. We both ordered the filet mignon benedict and the steaks and the potatoes were cold. We both a had a sneaky suspicion that the meal was prepared ahead of time because the plates were served within just a few minutes of ordering. We have frequented this establishment many times for special occasions (dinner and Sunday brunch) and never had a poor experience. Our food was always served hot and fresh. The quality, however, is always outstanding as it was on Easter Sunday. The filets were very tender and cooked to order. We love your restaurant and will return for dinner, but may reconsider going for a holiday brunch."

"As soon as we arrived at the restaurant we were greeted by the host who knew about our reservation and within minutes we were seated. The waitress we had came right away and provided us with quick and efficient service. The brunch was delicious! The restaurant had a warm and friendly atmosphere. "My Dad and I had Easter Dinner at the Coach Grill. The food was very good and although our server was effecient, she was not overly friendly. We ordered out appetizers and dinner course at the same time, which was bit of a bummer as we were barely done with the apps when dinner was put in front of us. Not that you want to wait forever, but it is nice to have a short break and not feel rushed (especially when there were ample tables open). Overall it was a very nice and the food was great."

"This is our special occasion restaurant. It is pricey but worth it. We have our favorite waiter , Kevin, who is the consummate professional. He has the same level of professionalism that was last seen twenty years ago. The food is special and not pretentious. Real steaks!! Real potatoes and real drinks. Nothing cutsie here. It is a new restaurant with an old time feeling of class and service. This is why we do not mind paying the price. For once, a true value for what you get. The real deal!!"
