McLoone's Pier House is an oceanfront restaurant serving classic, American cuisine. The offerings range from fresh seafood to hand-cut steaks, as well as pastas, sushi, salads & homemade desserts. The restaurant stands on the beach, just feet from the waves below & is wrapped completely in glass. Pier House boasts two bars with live entertainment. The Atlantic Room also plays host to a fabulous Sunday Brunch & is available 7 days a week for private events. Outdoor Dining is available from April through October, weather permitting.
"Seated quickly with reservation. Not rushed through meal( 2 hour visit), although food did come out slowly. Food very tasty, Salmon with Mango salsa was perfect. Very loud in restaurant, background music turned up to compensate, so you then have to speak louder to your party. We were aware of the noise level, noted in previous reviews. Owners should look into some kind of sound deadening solution for the exposed metal ceilings."

"Overall food was good....swordfish dish a bit on the salty side, Lobster Mac and cheese was more penne in vodka sauce with lobster than Lobster Mac and Cheese. Music was a bit loud making it difficult to talk with out raising your voice. We have been here many times. Not our best visit, will chalk it up to the Father's Day Holiday..."

"We decided we wanted an ocean view for my son's graduation from RCDS celebration. Since Mr. McLoone spoke (he was fabulous) at his ceremony we thought it appropriate that we go to one of his restaurants. The view was beautiful, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was festive. Everyone had a wonderful time!"

"I have only been there once but I am not sure if I will return. The food wasn't great, it was overpriced. I got the lobster bisque and for Theron entry I got salmon with mango sauce - neither of them were great just ok."

"Thought with the prices on the menu we would have had a better experience. The restaurant was noisy w/ kids running @. Some people were dressed nice & others in just bathing suits. When we walked to our table, I could not help but notice the floor covered in food dropping. The entrance to the kitchen was exposed & messy. Almost bumped into a few waiters carrying trays. The wait stations were very cluttered & messy. Not ideal for diners to see that. Our waitress was nice but nothing special. The food was good, we all had salads and shared oysters. Then crab cakes (very pricey) and a shrimp and sea bass dish. My wine was good but could have been served in a cleaner glass. The side of slaw & asparagus were not edible. Won't be back."

"I drive over an hour just to dine here, and I must say it's well worth the trip. The food is amazing, the staff is attentive and friendly, and the view is awesome! I will definitely recommend McCloone's Pier House and look forward to my next visit!"

"Made reservations easily on Open Table and the seating was as requested at a window overlooking the ocean. The food was fine but nothing exceptional given the absolutely ridiculous prices. I enjoy fine food and don't mind spending the money but this restaurant is over priced ONLY because of the view. I would strongly urge anyone interested in a great dining experience at these prices to look elsewhere. I was very disappointed and will not be returning."

"Lunch on a drizzly day, with several large birthday parties. That and/or the room acoustics made for very high noise/volume level, so I was glad I had my earplugs. Lobster & shrimp bisque was just average at $9.50, served in a large bowl, at first with just tiny pieces of lobster and shrimp, so you can see what you are getting, before the server pours in a measured amount of the bisque. Wife said the ham sandwich was like prepackaged deli meat. My lobster roll was okay but nothing special. The waitress was very pleasant and attentive but did not tell us the daily specials like for the other tables. Add $2 if you want fries instead of cole slaw - we thought that was a cheap shot. Good for upscale clientele, but locals will know better."

"McLoone's is the place we take our customers when we are in Eatontown/Long Branch area. The majority of our customers come from inland in the states and rarely see the ocean. We love the ocean view. The food is outstanding. If you have someone with you with certain food allergies, discuss this with the wait staff and they can and will customize your order.
Great place, highly recommend, alway look forward to returning."

"We have been here before but were very disappointed this time. Have been to their brunch several times and it is outstanding. The food was very bland and one of our fish dishes was dry and overcooked. We have no problem paying more for a good meal but the food we had this night was NOT worth what they charged. We also had to wait long to ask for the check since at that point all the waitresses were talking together at the hostess station with their backs turned to the restaurant. Out last complaint was the bar entertainment which you can hear in the restaurant - he was horrible and made our dinner experience even less enjoyable. it is a nice place to go in Long Branch but this experience really turned us off"

"Ocean view was excellent, service was friendly, but slow. Because we made reservations through opentable, we were seated as soon as we arrived, by the windows, which was nice. Appetizers arrived in a timely manner and were good. Our lunch, however, took over one hour to get to us. The crabcake sandwiches tasted like they were previously frozen, had a mushy equality. The lobster and shrimp bisque, nothing to rave about. The restaurant was very chilly, the vent was blasting cold air above our table; the husband of the couple we were with had to have his jacket on during our entire meal! We did not stay for dessert.
After we left the restaurant, we all agreed we probably would not return for the food."

"Very overpriced. Raw oysters were small at best. Caesar salad was poor (bottled dressing from supermarket would have been an upgrade.) Dinner special (lobster tail & shrimp) was poor. Lobster was absolutely tasteless. Oh and did I mention VERY OVERPRICED. Only went there because I had a gift card. Would never go back. Service was not attentive --- poor. Left a 10% tip, which I thought was generous. Table service at a McDonalds is better. Only redeeming quality is the ocean view."

"Immediately after our meal I told the waiter that if I still lived in NJ , McLoones would be my "go to" restaurant. We have given 4 weddings and my husband commented that it would be a wonderful place for a wedding. As it was we were celebrating my Mom's life (she had passed away in September....original reception was planned for the weekend that Hurricane Sandy devastated the Jersey Shore). Apparently McLoones is well built as it made it thru Sandy pretty well. Overall, I could not have been more pleased with our experience!"

"We've eaten at McCloones probably 7 or 8 times in the last couple of years, a lot for us. The food seemed much better the first few times. We had the cold sampler appetizer, and the shrimp was inedible -- hard and chewy. I literally had to spit out the bite I took. The crab meat was not very tasty. I don't eat oysters, and I thought the clams were pretty good. The lobster coated mahi mahi was just okay -- the fish seemed a tad undercooked and the lobster was also chewy (but edible). My daughter liked her strip steak well enough, and my wife, who ordered the lobster and mahi also and for the third time in a row, didn't care for it much. If this was the first time eating there, we probably would not go back."

"I have dined several times at McLoones and this is the first time I was extremely disappointed! We were a group of 11. We were seated with close proximity of the bar. With a half an hour of us being seated the band had started playing and basically our night took a noise dive from there. It was obnoxiously loud!! We chose McLoones for the atmosphere, the elegance and the food. Since we were a big table we were hoping that we can have the opportunity to Talk to one another instead if screaming as if we were in a dive bar munching on bar nuts. We made numerous attempts and complaints! The server Brian was fantastic. The manager However expressed that she didn't really have much authority. Needless to say we were all extremely disap"

"I surprised my husband for his birthday with a Saturday staycation overnight not far away from our home in Asbury Park. McCloones in Pier Village of Long Branch was literally a 5 minute stroll from our hotel room. It was the perfect choice. I couldnt have asked for a better table as we were promptly seated along the glass overlooking the surf as it rolled up on the sand. However, when I looked around us I noticed most tables offered up some type of nice view of the nighttime ocean. The crowd was a combination of families, couples, and groups of couples; the restaurant was busy but each table seemed private, proving great acoustics. Food was excellent! Brie, sushi, and filet mignon all delish! Cocktail menu couldve used some improvement!"

"Went with my wife for our anniversary, the only thing that was good was our bottle of wine. We ordered shrimp cocktail and the McLoones sushi roll for our appetizers. The shrimp was basically like chewing a tire, and the sushi roll had some sort of tuna spread on top which I guess they were passing it off has fresh tuna. I would not recommend either. It's basically a tourist trap type of place, beautiful view of the ocean but lousy overpriced food; perfect for yuppie couples looking to get ripped off. I'm sure the locals know better. Probably a good place to grab a drink before you go out to dinner."

"The dining room was so loud it was almost impossible to hear across the table. Then the wedding got going upstairs and the noise level went up about 50 decibels. Not a good place for a romantic tete a tete.
The tables and chairs had a very cheap appearance.
The food was okay but wildly overpriced. The bill with wine, one appetizer and one dessertfor two was $140.
I think this venue sets its prices based on the fact that it is on the boardwalk and overlooks the ocean. It was overall a disappointing experience."

"We have been dining here for years. The last 3 times we had a waitress training a waitress. I don't mind that, but you need a more appealing younger, better looking staff. I also think your female waitress should dress like females, not men in ties. All night a young male waiter was giving us refills of water At the end of the meal the training waitress said to us, I just put the dessert tray down, do you want to see desserts? The food recently is really good. I am use to the trendy hot spots in NYC. You certainly have the atmosphere, but until the music comes on later in the night, the vibe is quiet to moderate. To step it up, & draw a crowd, I think you should have music playing like other restaurants."
