Kiki's is a French Bistro with regional specialties and has the look and feel of a French country inn.
It has received 3-star reviews from both *The Chicago Tribune* and *The Sun Times*, and now in its eighteenth year, Kiki's Bistro maintains its well-earned reputation of gastronomic excellence and friendly, professional service. A comfortable French country atmosphere attracts an eclectic array of food-lovers, including celebrities, politicians, and acclaimed chefs.
Previous to Kiki's Bistro, Georges "Kiki" Cuisance opened Le Bordeaux at Madison and State in 1969. The restaurant attained a revered status among cosmopolitan Chicagoans, and when "Kiki" moved his kitchen to its current River North digs, his avid following of regulars and Francophiles pursued without hesitation. In an official proclamation the City of Chicago praised Mr. Cuisance for being at the forefront of introducing French cuisine and savoir-vivre to Chicago's developing dining scene.

"My wife and I went to Kiki's for our anniversary after seeing good reviews online. It was spectacular. We had asked for a quiet table and they actually reserved us a corner table that was pretty quiet (this doesn't always happen). When I made our reservations, through opentable.com, I mentioned that we were celebrating our anniversary. They took note of this and brought us a complimenatary chocolate mousse cake for dessert.
The food was delicious. We started with the frog legs, which were very good. For entrees I had the rack of lamb and my wife had the braised beef short rib. Both were spectacular. This was probably the best food we have eaten to date.
Every part of our experience with Kiki's Bistro was spectacular. Highly recommended!"

"We were seated by the door to the kitchen-Which my open table reservation specifically requests a "quiet table away from kitchen." After listening to the staff speaking loudly in Spanish chatting it up, we asked to move. The wine is very disappointing and I would not order it again. Tried the Bordeaux and Rhone. The food was less than good. Not sure why the ratings are so high, I was really disappointed and I love all levels of french restaurants!"

"We had not been to Kiki's for a while and so enjoyed this dinner! The ladies had excellent Dover Sole and the gentlemen enjoyed very high quality steak au poivre! The onion soup was also delicious, as were the salads! We topped things off with the profiterole with a semi sweet chocolate sauce, that was wonderful! The service was great!

"We loved this place the minute we walked in. The coat check, maitre d', and bartender were very polite and made us feel welcome. We were seated by Kiki himself (as is his wont). The menu was extensive with some nice specials listed. Our waiter was knowledgeable and polite. His suggestion for a Bordeaux started out a bit tart,but opened up nicely. The great part of the place was the older and sophisticated clientele. Older folks looking respectable as opposed to young and "hip". It was a nice change from typical Chicago downtown scenes."

"We were only able to get a reservation for 6 p.m. on a Saturday night and discovered the “early bird” menu, good until 6:30 PM. We all snickered about how we were nearing the age when these sort of specials will one day appear very appealing. But surprise-surprise, we all ordered from that menu because the choices sounded excellent and were varied enough to appeal to all tastes. Everything was absolutely delicious.
Here’s the other thing about Kiki’s Bistro, at least on a Saturday night: it’s an older crowd, so the noise level is bearable, even with every table full. This seems to be a popular place with regulars and Kiki is a gracious host. Our waiter was also wonderful -- friendly and efficient, never rushing us."

"We went to Kiki's right from work and took advantage of the terrific $29.50 three course dinner available from 5:00 - 6:30. We both started with the mussels which were large and succulent and then both had the salmon which was perfectly cooked and served with a very generous portion of pommes frittes drizzled with truffle sauce. (I dare you to leave even one on your plate!) We went our separate ways for dessert. The chocolate mousse was heavenly and husband finished every bite of his lemon tart which he obviously loved. We've ordered off the regular menu on several occassions and absolutely love everything we've had but recommend the "early dinner special" menu for those wanting to try something new at a great price."

"We do not live in or near Chicago, but we do visit the city a couple of weekends each year. We always stay downtown, and really enjoy the local restaurants. This trip we decided to try something new (to us, anyway) and came upon Kiki's Bistro through Open Table. We are so glad that we gave it a try. Everything was excellent - from the food, to the service, to the atmosphere. It would take a lot more space to write about our experience than what we are allowed to in this review section, but suffice it to say that we now have another great restaurant to dine at whenever we visit Chicago."

"Fantastic food, great service, great ambiance. Bar looked like a pleasant place to await a table although our reservations were spot on and we did not have to wait. Highly recommended. Have dined here numerous times and recommended Kiki's to many friends and acquaintances. Everyone that has been there with us loves it as well."

"Second time at Kiki's for dinner. Great food and ambiance. We were here for a wedding anniversary and it was exactly what we were looking for. Romantic and quaint. For some reason the server had a little bit of an attitude but not to the extent that it had a significant impact on our overall experience. We will definitely be back."

"Because it was Valentine's Day, the resturant squeezed more tables into the space making it overcrowded, far less enjoyable than usual. People were sitting on top of each other making privacy out of the question. I like the resturant: the food is great and service even better, but ambiance is part of the resturant's charm and this time around it was lacking."

"The server was absolutely fantastic and gave wonderful wine recommendations. I appreciate that he didn't immediately point out the most expensive bottles, which other server's tend to do and I find it makes guests uncomfortable (as a former server myself). The food was very good - my boyfriend had the best dish by far, the short ribs. I would go back for that dish alone. I got the steak au pouve which was a tad to peppercorned for my taste. Overall, great experience. My parents who came with us loved everything as well. My boyfriend and I will go back and sit at the bar for wine, appetizers and to split the heavenly short ribs!"

"Very good spot, seated within a few minutes of reservation despite a busy nite, table was near the bar but in the corner which worked out. Service was very good although attention tailed off at the end of the meal. Nice touch with a harp playing in the background. Food was very good, had the veal and it was tasty. Short ribs also were good, not great. I'd go back."

"I've eaten here for several years now. The food is consistently good, the service impeccable, and the atmosphere is always relaxing. It's a great place for dinner, and we've celebrated many an anniversary, birthday, Valentine's Day, and even Bastille Day here. Kiki has done a tremendous job in making this restaurant run like a well-oiled machine - which is why it has lasted about 30 years. Plus it's one of the only restaurants where you can still get Crepes Suzette - which most French restaurants don't even do anymore - and it's such a treat! As are their steaks and seafood and traditional French fare.
And of course, we'll continue to come back."
