An Italian Restaurant set in an 1873 lumber baron home. Four dining rooms including a four season porch overlooking the lawn. Patio seating is also available. Fireplaces in three rooms as well as a lounge with live piano jazz nightly.
"We wanted to reward our Young adult Grandson and Girlfriend for caring for our Dog Child while we were away for a couple days. I thought Mangiamo was the perfect place to celebrate with them. They enjoy Mangiamo's as much as we do and they could have a full entree or pizza. We really enjoy the fact that there is a nice range of choices on the menu and the ambiance of the restaurant. The waitstaff and personnel are friendly and efficient."

"Have dined at Mangiamo! many times, at least once a year. A stately place, and being a former mansion the restaurant is compartmentalized by the large rooms so it give one a more-intimate feel. Loved the gluten-free options (there are quite a few) and the meal did not disappoint."

"Mangiamo! is in one of the large old homes in Grand Rapdis. The decor is inviting and and depending on the room you can have family friendly, romantic, bright and lively, outdoor or bar seating. The lasagna is wonderful as is the chopped salad. The specials are always creative and flavorful. A nice wine list is available and do not miss dessert and a coffee."

"The food is amazing, the service is great, and the building is so beautiful. This was only our 2nd visit, maybe 3rd, but we haven't had a bad experience yet (and my boyfriend is picky!). The servers are happy to answer any questions about the menu and always give great recommendations if you are having trouble deciding. Also, I don't think there's a bad table in the whole place, inside or out. The quality of the food is outstanding - fresh ingredients, cooked to order."

"Mangiamo's has it all - great food, great service, and a lovely setting in a beautiful historic mansion. They strike the right cord by being kid-friendly (the lower half of the walls are chalkboards and there's plenty of chalk) while also being suitable for a romantic dinner for two. The "Superfoods" menu is my favorite, both healthy and flavorful."

"We (especially my wife) appreciated the seating we were provided. She struggles with migraines in very bright seating and we were given an inside (against an inside wall) table that was very comfortable for her needs. The service was great and the food delicious, but that's just the norm it seems! A wonderful experience overall."

"I had thought, given the architecture and the suggestion for reservations; that Mangiamo! would be more "upscale". People were dining in shorts and tank tops. I was expecting a stricter dress code, as well as not necessarily having paper on the tables. A few more main dish selections would be nice. I was also surprised to see pizza was an option - again thinking more upscale. Given the atmosphere meals could be more expensive than what they were but I guess it is all in who you are catering to."

"We had dinner here for the first time on our one year anniversary. The service was a bit overly attentive and lacked any smile but mostly did a good job. The server did notice we were dressed nicely and asked if we were celebrating anything and ended up bringing us some complimentary champagne. The manager was nice enough to check on us and the accordion player actually made me appreciate accordion music. My food was disappointing but my wife's was delicious."

"The service was not what we expected for a Gilmore, our waitress may have been having a bad night, as we did not feel welcome. It was a little upsetting, but I did notice most of the other wait staff seemed to know what they were doing and looked like they treated their tables much batter. So as a whole I do not believe their service is bad, just our waitress. I am not the type that complains, I can usually put up with almost anything I do not require a lot of attention. It was bad enough that my managerial side took over and had to pass word on to the manager about his waitress, and he made sure everything was taken care by the end of the night. I would recommend it in the future."

"We are members of the Gilmore Club and got a free birthday meal at Blue Water Grill for my husband. Part of the Gilmore Club program is that the manager of the restaurant came through and gave us a gift card to the restaurant for the month, Mangiamo!. The told us we could also eat at Mangiamo! as a buy one, get one free entree as well. We were delighted since we had only dined at Mangiamo! once in the past. I had an excellent pick of their "superfood" menu. It was the eggplant napolean. I don't have enough characters left to describe it, but you should go and try it for yourself!"

"The food was excellent and the server was very friendly and nice, but they were out of a large amount of wines, champagnes, and beers. It took about 15 minutes just to order drinks because the server had to keep checking to make sure they still had them. The service was pretty slow because she was taking a few other groups too, which was okay until we were trying to get the bill."

"i got there with my family, and the morning staff seemed a bit underdressed. We got there right at happy which i thought was good, but when i got my beer, i cringed at the taste, it seemed watered down. The food was pretty bland and seemed a little old. Especially the sauce they served with our chicken capavatti. I think the ingredients were also stored with some fish as it all had a slight fish smell... overall the ambience aas the best thing about this place, live accordian player made it nicer, do not go"

"Fried calamari and pizza were good. Pastas (seafood linguini, papardelle) were uniformly tasteless. Eggplant parm was mediocre. Caesar salad is like a from a cafeteria. Garlic bread sticks were not garlicky. All in all tastes like senior citizens or heart patient food."

"Our first time, and it won't be our last. Our waitress, Robin, was delightful, and the food was very good, especially the tiramisu, although it was disappointing that they were out of terrine. Being serenaded by Michael on accordion with the tune "'O Sole Mio" was the highlight."

"Our experience was pleasing. I tried something different, a superfood with eggplant. The presentation was amazing the taste was a contrast in flavors which seemed unpleasant. Our server offered to replace my meal, I declined. My husbands meal was very good. Your house wine was excellent. One of my first experiences was sitting in an unsafe chair on the porch, which I replaced immediately with one nearby. This was my birthday meal and I was surprised to find that there wasn't a little complimentary muffin or cupcake for such occasions. It would be nice to put on some different music to compliment the restaurant's unique ambiance, not 80's music. Our server was very good. We enjoyed his humor and knowledge of the restaurant."

"Disappointing. We had a 6:00 pm reservation, arrived at 5:50 pm, and were seated immediately. That was all that went right. Our waitress, Victoria, took our order, and disappeared....for the next 40 minutes. Our salad then arrived. 15 minutes later, we received bread. Another 20 minutes after that, our meal. Victoria's personality never arrived.
We planned to take advantage of the 4 for $40 special that was advertised, but found out that meant we could only select one dish. We had the Vegetable Herbed Pappardelle--overwhelmed with olives and garlic, the Eggplant Parmesan--the saffron rice tasted like dishwater, Baked Ziti Bolognese--pasta tossed with sauce and meat--not special, and the Chicken Cavatappi Alfredo--the best of the four."

"Having made a reservation, we were seated immediately. There were five in our party, and we got a small round table in a corner of one dining room. There were only three chairs, the others possibly removed for the large (10+) party at the next table, but the hostess found replacements and brought additional place settings right away. The large party was having a glorious time and were sometimes very loud. Our server was very helpful and friendly. All of the food was delicious. The calamari appetizer was a bit too greasy for me, and had too much breading for the size of the pieces, but it was devoured anyway. I had the grilled pork loin, one companion had whitefish, and the other three had salmon."

We drive in from the lakeshore and it is so worth it! Can't wait to take more friends there in the future! Absolutely love the Superfruit Cosmo, the double napkin garlic bread and the filet of beef is absolutely amazing! Thanks again for such a great night!"

"My sister and I were entertaining our cousins from Minnesota and we wanted to take them to a great place in Grand Rapids. We were bragging about all the great places to eat in Grand Rapids. Our server seemed very disinterested in us. Our food were very average and a bit disappointing. I requested a quiet place so we could catch up and they put us in a quiet area by the fireplace which we were happy with. I would not go back."

"As always, great food and great service. It was pretty busy being the Friday after Valentine's day, but service was still prompt and the food came out timely and hot. Mangiamo is one of my favorite places to eat anywhere because of the great setting in an historic mansion in a cool neighborhood of Grand Rapids, and it's superb food. There was even a good pianist/singer in the bar area."

"I went to Mangiamo for Valentine's Day, and it was wonderful. I had never been there before, but I will definitely be going back there again as it was a great experience. The food was great (lasagna was slightly overcooked), and the mood was perfect. My girlfriend commented several times saying that I was overdoing it as she had never been to a restaurant that nice. When the bill came she was shocked that it was easily within our budget for going out to dinner. We will definitely be returning to try out the other menu selections when we're looking to have an upscale dining experience."
