"We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner last Saturday night. The food was outstanding and the service was top shelf. Miriam was very patient helping both my wife and I get exactly what we wanted. Carole is gluten intolerant and Miriam handled that like it was no big deal. After listening to what I was looking for Miriam was real quick to suggest something that is not on the regular menu and was very happy to add 1 ingredient so that it would match my tastes. If there is one thing that I might criticize it is that Carmine's is a loud restaurant. Perhaps some high back booths might help to create some quieter seating, but that is just our preference."

"Carmine's is just what an Italian restaurant should be--simple, fresh flavors and ingredients. It's one of the best restaurants in the neighborhood hands down, and one of the best Italian restaurants in Denver. The portions are family style so do not worry about not having enough to share--they are generous sizes."

"My friend and I have been to Carmine's 3 times and the previous 2 experiences where good. The last not so much; we felt rushed and the staff that was providing service and clearing seemed very disinterested almost to the point of rude. When it came time to pay and leave for another engagement we where completely forgotten. I had no choice but to get a managers attention just to pay and meet my party waiting outside at valet.
A real shame..."

"What happened to Carmines? Used to love the fragrant smell of garlic when entering. Sadly, no longer there. The quantities of food are still large, but the taste is nothing special. Red sauce was like water, and overall, everything was underspiced."

"Carmine's is a place we have gone to for years. The food was average. The pasta was not al dente as it should be. I judge a good Italian restaurant on that one important thing. Pasta must be cooked al dente otherwise it becomes gummy. The chicken in the chicken Montana did not taste well and the asparagus was not appetizing. The best thing I always feel at Carmine's is the salad and garlic bread."

"I have been coming here for almost 20 years and I have never been disappointed. I did not think the food was up to par. Chicken Montana lacked chicken, asparagus, and sun dried tomatoes. The ingredients seemed skimpy and the other two dishes just weren't as good as they usually are. We would come usually once a year with a large group to clebrate birthdays and this was the first time I was disappointed. :("

"We called our whole dinner order in ahead and everything came out perfectly just as requested! The staff works together really well making you feel as everything is taken care of just for you. As a working mom and wife, I appreciate when I am taken care of. This is definitely a place that has proven to me that they can take care of everything just the way I requested. "On a weekend, Carmine's is rockin'!! This is a busy and popular restaurant, so be prepared for a high level of noise if you dine inside the restaurant! The wait staff is friendly, professional and fun, so there are no problems with service, even though extremely busy. Make reservations or you may have to wait awhile to get a table. The covered outside patio is probably not as noisy when they are busy--so next time, we will request a place on the patio. The food is usually consistently good - although this time, the lemon shrimp pasta was very bland. All was well when the waitress brought us extra "lemony" sauce -- so I have no complaints! This is a great place and there is good reason why it is so busy! Thanks, Carmine's!!"

"Family-style Italian eating! It doesn't get better than this! We started with a regular salad that was absolutely delicious! Then we enjoyed the "jazzed up" chicken marsala and a side order of ziti. There were two of us and we had enough food for dinner the next day (the pasta), and lunch for my husband (chicken) today and tomorrow! The wine selection is good and the recommendation by our server was excellent. Nice, full-bodied red wines. I wish my husband ate dessert because I would have loved having leftover cannolis!!"

"Wow what an experience - the wait staff was great, funny and on their toes about everything. This was our first time there and the waitress made sure to inform us that the menu was set for large groups so don't order more than one entree unless we wanted a lot of left overs. The other waiters who complemented her made sure we had plenty of drinks, bread and always check to see if we needed anything. It was my husbands birthday and they brought him out what ever he wanted for the desert which was great - I made note of it in our reservations and never said another word. The food was AMAZING - best Italian food and we are Italian so it was great - all homemade, fresh, flavorful - great place for a large group."

"The menu is not descriptive enough... too hard to read.... organized in a manner where you have to ask a lot of questions... then you feel pressure to order right away vs. think and discuss what you want with your guests because you will forget... Give your customers more information about your food vs. just a title of a dish.... The wine list needs to be more descriptive too - what do the wines taste like? Or you wait staff needs to try EVERY wine and be able to speak to each bottle or glass."

"Everything was great! From making the reservation to discussing the menu with the waiter, everything was perfect. The service and food was excellent. The restaurant has a European feel to it but still has an American sense of making you comfortable. I'm definitely looking forward to going back."

"This is a fun, little neighborhood place that prepares and serves Italian food family-style. The staff is dressed casually and the environment is anything but stuffy. We each had a glass of wine. For an appetizer, we had the Tour of Italy. For an entree, we had the lemon shrimp which was spicy, even though my roommate specified to the server that she does not like spicy food. We shared the chocolate-chip cannolis for dessert. Overall the food was very good Italian, but not earth-shattering."

"We thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to Carmine's on Penn. We went for the Denver Restaurant Week deal, and found that to be a good value. Portions are huge, and the food is very good. The only item that was a little disappointing was the pear salad. I counted a total of three slices of pear in a salad intended to serve four people. The regular price for the salad is about $16 - for that price, I would expect at least a whole pear in the salad. Aside from that, our meal was delicious and we had plenty of leftovers for a filling dinner the following night."

"My wife and I went to Carmine's for restaurant week - we had a very nice time - the staff is very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu and wines. Our salad and dessert (cannoli) were very good. The main course was good, but not exceptional - maybe it was our meal choice (chicken parmigiana) but it just seemed somewhat generic - better than the national chain dining but not great. Portions sizes during restaurant week were exceptionally large - we went home with another full meal for two. Overall, I would recommend."
