"Great looking restaurant and the service was excellent. Very good and innovative fish selections. Parking, as usual in the Gas Lamp, is a bit of a challnege, but they do have valet parking which is a plus. We went here on our anniversary and were pleased that we did."

"On my one visit I was impressed by Blue Point’s wide ranging menu emphasizing seafood, although the land offerings are more than just tokens. After a half dozen high quality oysters, I couldn’t turn down a special salmon prepared with a bacon-tinged barbecue sauce, matched with a creamy polenta, fried green tomatoes, and a bed of arugula; the combination was very effective. Good martinis are served in a small cocktail glass, with a substantial residual volume brought to the table in a iced flask. Good wine list. There’s abundant sidewalk seating at this corner location, but despite the beautiful evening I like most diners chose the less hectic and nicely appointed interior."

"I've been to Blue Point many times and have come away with fantastic food and service. So it's sad to say that on my most recent visit, wanting to show off to a good friend from Chicago, that the food was less than stellar. I had the barramundi and she had the scallops. We felt that the flavors to the main course was just okay and the sides that accompanied the meal just overwhelmed the main course. The flavor mix on both dishes just didn't agree. The only hi-lights were the oysters and dessert. I'm a local and I absolutely love Blue Point but that night was just a huge disappointment."

"One of our favorite restaurants in Southern Cal. Love the ambiance - reminds me a "San Francisco" style restaurant. We always ask for a booth - comfortable and sophisticated dining and very friendly attentive service. The appetizers are outstanding - we had calmari - really one of the best we have had anywhere and the lobster bisque is to die for. We both ordered the trout stuffed with dungeness crabmeat. My wife has had this before and said it was better. It was good but not great. I usually order the doral (a grouper) when we go as it is outstanding. This is a wonderful restaurant with great ambiance and service."

"We were very disappointed in coming here, especially after reading all of the great reviews. The hostess was very friendly and sat us right away. When we were seated, our server and another employee were having a verbal confrination which was awkward when he turned around to tell us he'd be right with us, and then continued to bicker with the other employee. It took about 20 mintues for us to get our drinks, our server forgot our sides, and bread and never came to check on us after our soup came out. My boyfriend got the yellowfin tuna which was incredible, I got the swordfish which was overcooked. The atmosphere was charming, but I would never come back here again."

"Great Food as always! I had the diver Maine scallops. They were cooked perfectly. I do not like ratatouille which was suppose to be served with the dish, so the waiter said just pick what sides you would like instead. I had the Potato Galette (so yummy)and Asparagus. "I went the on a referral from my friend with high hopes to have a special evening with my daughter. When we arrived the hostess seemed surprised to see us even though we had reservations. She then tried to seat us close to the kitchen in a very noisy area. I asked for a different table and the hostess seemed annoyed instantly. When she tried to give us a table, I reminded her that we requested a booth and really had our heart set on one, then she became more aggravated. Although the servers tried to be professional, I couldn't get the treatment from the hostess off my mind. I'm a single mom/ black/ entrepreneur with a BA in Business Management. I know good and bad business, I have to say that I do not want to go back to Blue Point."

"This wasn't my first visit to Blue Point but I'm not sure if I'm going back. Food was OK, not as good as previous visits. Nothing stood out but everything was cooked to order. Main complaint was service. Started out good but then I could not get much attention. We waited a long time to order dessert and then had to chase down our waiter to get the check. That can really spoil a nice meal for me."

"Eh. It was good but not great, and not worth the price. My tiny portion of fish was underwhelming and under seasoned. Dessert wasn't fantastic either. It was okay, but I'm mildly disappointed for my $175. I wrote in my reservation that it was a birthday dinner and it was never mentioned."

"After reading all the reviews we were very excited to try this restaurant, and maybe our expectations were just too high because it was quite a disappointment. The food, while creative, was borderline bland and didn't wow us at all. Not somewhere we would try again."

"From the beginning to the end, this was a wonderful place to dine. When my companions could tolerate the coolness outside, the staff quickly re-seated us without a complaint. The Black Cod was to die for! Deserts are exquisite. I'll be back at the Blue Poing Coastal Cuisine again."

"I had a caprese salad as an appetizer, which was really great, and I would highly recommend it it if it's on the menu again. For the entree, I had the lobster crusted dorado. The fish itself was nicely cooked, but the wild mushrooms were truly outstanding. For dessert, I had the bread pudding, which was warm and comforting. It was pretty busy on a Thursday night, but the food came out very quickly. The waitstaff was very informed and professional."

"Many of the 'Select Special Features' I was not able to really review. We were at the Blue Point with a adult daughter to dine before we attended a theatre production. We all agreed, it was an epic meal. The food was superb--we ordered from the appetizer, salad and main course sections--too full for dessert! My husband and I felt the meal was a bigger highlight than the play we saw. The wait staff was professional, attentive and friendly. And we thoroughly enjoyed the decor of the restaurant. All in all, it was an amazing meal."
