At Kous Kous both the cuisine and the atmosphere are sexy and exotic, and the staff is wonderfully unpretentious. You find a spacious Bistro style room with a small lounge. Hanging Moroccan lanterns cast lacy shadows like butterfly-wing patterns onto the ceiling, and world music plays softly in the background.
The food is delicious, authentic and healthful. Chef/owner Moumen Nouri cooks up a selection of foolproof meats,seafood,vegetarian Tagines, brochettes. A wonderful list of spices and herbs infused Moroccan Tapas compliment the menu.

"As always, Kous Kous delivered on excellent food and service. And even though we had a Groupon, we like that they treat no differently. Had eggplant app, chicken skewer app and lamb. A lot of food, but we ate it all...too good to stop eating. Would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant."

"Came across this place when i first came into town looking up places to dine that weren't "fast food". I was not disappointed. They're menu has choices for everyone, and the food was excellent. The wait staff was great as well. The food was very good, i wouldn't hesitate to visit here again."

"I recommend ordering one of the Feast options. You get a nice variety of different foods and enough to share. Interesting mileau with areas divided providing some privacy and romanticism. Attentive and friendly waiters. The food is delicious and well prepared. The waiter was kind enough to allow switching meat for vegetables when ordering the Feast."

"Second time I've been here and I wasn't disappointed! Great food, dim lighting, great ambiance and helpful, friendly waiters. The menu has a varied selection and the cold and hot tea is wonderful. It was a little stuffy and warm when we got there, but the AC was turned immediately when I pointed out how warm it was--the waiter was noticeably warm as well. Location is amazing, as we love Martini's Above 4th, which we went to right after--just a quick elevator ride up. Will be coming to Kous Kous again and again in the near future. Just make sure and call in to reserve a table, ESPECIALLY on the weekends. This place fills up quickly because of its popularity."

"I love Kous Kous. It's one of my favorite places to eat. We went on a Tuesday so it was less crowded and no wait! The ambiance was great and the servers, attentative! The flavors are exceptional. "Absolutely the best dinning experience I've ever had!! It was perfect for a romantic dinner for two, but I also saw small groups having a good time. Love the ambiance and the set up. Lighting is on the darker side and the seating is all couches, loveseats and ottomans where we sat. The special drinks were excellent and the beer list is sufficient for the guys.
The food is out of this world!! I had the fish special tagine and my date had the chicken tagine, and both were finger-licking delicious, we cleaned our plates. We will definately be back and possibly go to Morocco! We spend 2.5 hours there as a couple and had no idea how time passed. Romantic dinner accomplished."

"Went based on reviews and wanting to try something new. This place did not disappoint at all. It was outstanding!
I booked a reservation because one reviewer recommended them for Fri/Sat nights. We went Friday at 6:15pm. At that time there was still plenty of open seating but the place did fill up during our time there. So, I'd agree you should make a reservation if you're planning on eating after 6:30pm.
Our waiter was super friendly and asked if we'd eated Moroccan before which we had not. He was more than happy to give us the run down of the menu, how Moroccan food is prepared, etc. plus some terrific recommendations. We went with much of what he suggested & everything was delicious!
Highly recommended, will definitely be coming"

"Took my girlfriend here for her birthday, she loved it! We loved the ambiance, the food, the mint tea is the BEST tea we have ever had. We loved this place! The only not so great part is i asked for a quiet area since it was just two of us and it was nice and quiet for a while since we were the only ones at the restaurant, then a family came and sat down in the table right next to us (even tho every single other table was free at the time) and they were pretty loud. We ended up leaving really fast because the kids in the table next to us were getting annoying"

"Great balance of spices and ingredients. Plentiful portions, And friendly wait staff. The B'stilla roll was a nice version of the traditional sweet and savory dish. I'd come back just for that, BUT the endive wraps with the cold trio of fillings was magical. all the flavors I crave when I think Moraccan food! Tender Tagine of Lamb and the Preserved lemon and chicken was amazing! we ended our feast with Orange Blossom and cinnamon syrup infused strawberries and oranges. It was a perfect end to a perfect meal. We cant wait to come back again with friends. Make sure to have reservations!! It gets busy quickly!

"First taste of Moroccan food and loved it. Everything was delicious from the complimentary spiced carrots to the beef tagine to the delicious dessert that we purposely left room in our bellies for to enjoy. Service was absolutely phenomenal from the accommodating host to the knowledgeable server. Ambiance was dim and relaxing. I can definitely see why it received so many great reviews on Yelp."

"My husband and I decided to try this restaurant before actually taking a trip to Morocco! The ambiance of the restaurant is wonderful! I loved the curtains hanging between tables, it gave it a dim, romantic look.
The waiter we had was a 10! He explained what all the dishes were and made some GREAT recommendations!
So, not only were we able to get a feel for modern Moroccan food, we found a great restaurant that we will continue to go to!
It's quite a find! Can't wait to take my friends and family!"

In San Diego on vacation from Chicago, which clouds this review.
There is but one redeeming virtue to your dining experience at this restaurant; the staff. It is outstanding.
Unfortunately, that's the sole asset. Food evinces either careless cooks, inexperience, or both. My cous cous was seriously over cooked, leading me to believe it is prepared in bulk at the beginning of the evening and kept warm. That results is cous cous without flavor or substance. My lamb shank was over cooked as well, rendering it nearly tasteless.
My dining partner's Turkish sausage over cous cous was equally over cooked, and the sausage contained far too much gristle.
Find your Mediterranean food elsewhere in San Diego."

"If you like Moroccan food then this place is a great find. We chose to sit on the couches and were treated to excellent service, happy hour cocktails at a reasonable price and then a delicious Moroccan feast (number 2). "We had a great experience! The decor and ambiance is very warm and inviting. We got the Moroccan Feast II and everything was amazing. I especially liked the Zaalouk and the tea after dinner was so good and unexpected. Our waitor was superb and incredibly helpful. I would definitely recommend Kous Kous to anyone and will definitely be going back."

"Food doesn't get much tastier than this. We had the Berber Lamb Tagine...so many wonderful flavors that melded and melted in your mouth. The chicken kebabs were so tasty and actually had a chicken flavor that seems to be lost on so many chicken dishes out there. We had a coupon deal and they allowed us to use it for happy hour deals. That's unusual and much appreciated. The service was fantastic...friendly but still professional and very familiar with the menu items and drinks. Will definitely be returning soon."
