From the simple to the exotic, the showcased daily selections of Antipasti Misti (before the meal) include Palermo Style Caponata, Marinated Sweet Shrimp and Baby Octopus and Artichokes. Featured meals include Seafood Risotto, Grilled Tuna, Grilled Lamb Chops "Palermo" and Veal "Siciliana." Taormina's specialty dish is Uni Pasta (sea urchin), a delicacy enjoyed in Japan and Italy. Italian espressos compliment Dolci (dessert) selections of Vanilla Gelato with Espresso, Homemade Baked Pannacotta and Tiramisu. Inspired by authentic Sicilian recipes from the kitchens of Southern Italy's seaside town of Taormina, Chef Akira Yamamoto pairs fresh pastas with the highest quality seafoods and meats. "One of the most amazing restaurants on the island. Fine dining, great wine and other drinks list. If you coming for lunch they have really great choices of happy hour. You have your choices of inside and outside tables. Great for night out with friends or loved ones. Definitely coming back."

"We enjoyed Taormina always. New crab pasta was nice. Uncomfortable one thing is that a kid next to our table was making noise so much, that bothered our conversation a lot. I heard similar experience from my frined at Taormina recently. I think family friendly ambiance is good, but type of customer is not noise making, so, would say it need to improve something, since the food/service is always nice."

"The hostess was business-like and distracted. The server seemed inexperienced and wasn't familiar with the menu. English was not here first language so she wasn't very conversational. The bread and oil was a little disappointing for an Italian restaurant. Our salads and entrees were excellent. We did not have dessert. The wine list was too pricey for those of us that don't have distinguishing enough tastes to tell the difference. I recognized a 4X mark up on the wine that I was familiar with at my wine store."

"We can't come to Hawaii/Waikiki without at least one meal, if not more, at Taormina. Terrific food, knowledgeable staff, great experience. The freshly made pasta is to die for, and the risotto with fois gras continues to be one of my wife's all-time favorite dishes. We can't wait to return."

"I have been to Tarormina many times. I live here in Honolulu & I have found it to be about the most authentic Sicilian Italian restaurants in the state. I am a foodie and a good home chef (make my own pastas & sauces from recipes I've learned while traving in Italy). I just took a couple of friends to Taromina just the other day after I returned from another trip to Italy I made. My friends and I loved the food. The linguine con sarde is as good as any I have found at any Italian restaurant in the United States. Their fresh flavor food will not leave you with the feeling of needing a nap afterward. Truly great service, delicious food and a very comfortable restaurant. I park at Embassy Suites and walk through the passageway & validate."

My husband dined here while on vacation on Oahu and were oh so pleasantly surprised by such a wonderful dinner in busy Waikiki. "On February 25, 2013 my wife and I returned to Taormina. The service was fantastic! Our waiter was beyond helpful. In an effort to maintain a vegetarian diet I requested a vegetarian meal. Normally I don't ask because there is such a negative response to vegetarians. The waiter surprised me by saying their chef would be happy to make me a vegetarian meal. He recommended the noodle made daily by the chef with an arrabbiata sauce it was fantastic! Thank you chef! The wine he selected was reasonably priced and complimented my meal as well and my wife. "This is a great spot in the middle of Waikiki for Japanese-influenced Italian. My daughters loved the Vongole and Bolognaise pastas and my wife and I enjoyed the quad-appetizer sampler. Overall, the food was very well-prepared, not too salty or overbearing plus all prices are extremely reasonable for this part of town which is to say it ain't cheap but you get your money's worth. "Taormina Sicilian Cuisine was a disappointment. The signature appetizer, a Bruschetta with seafood covered in a white sauce, was tasteless. The chilled pea soup was the only course my wife and I thought was tasteful. It was freshly prepared and one could taste the ingredients. My wife's pasta course, with scampi, was lacking in taste and bland. My ahi, well cooked properly, lacked flavor.
We skipped dessert, not wanting to be disappointed, and went for ice cream.
We would not give Taormina a second chance."

"We were seated in the patio area, not the main restaurant even though the reservation was made some time ago. Excellent fish. The veal chop was nicely done but breaded; that should have been pointed out on the menu or by the waiter. This was our second time to this restaurant and we will go back but will insist on the main dining room when making the reservation."

"We had a great table right next to the front window, which I believe were the more spacious tables in the restaurant. I also really appreciate that they honored my request to be seated indoors as opposed to their outdoor patio seating; I knew it would be too cold/noisy for me outside.
The prefix menus were both wonderful (I ordered the $65; my bf ordered the $85); the food was prepared well by my standards. I have nothing to compare the fresh pasta Nero (squid ink pasta) to, but I was hoping for more flavor from the pasta itself.
Despite lacking reviews on Yelp, the wait staff this evening did a fine job by our table. Our glasses were refilled in a reasonable time, and we were checked in on appropriately without being intruded upon."

"What a wonderful last mean before leaving Waikiki! We had a reservation but had not specified an outdoor table. However, our choice was accommodated and it was a delightful, breezy day. Our served, Jimmy was helpful with menu selections and attentive during the meal. The appetizer was fun, tasty and well presented. My go to dish in an Italian restaurant is one with bolognese sauce and the classic was excellent. Lunch finished with a scoop of mango gelato and a great cup of cappuccino."
