"Our server was unattentive-we sat for at least 20 minutes before drink order, came over 10 minutes after our dinners were served to see if we wanted grated cheese...very annoying. Food was decent but overpriced. Beautiful spot but wouldn't go back."

"I've always heard about Lydia's in the Strip District so when we had a reason to take a group of family out for a get-together, we picked Lydias. Great location in the Strip District in Pittsburgh and parking was easy across the street for $6. Our waitress was good and everyone enjoyed their food. My only complaint was that I told the waitress that I was torn between the ravioli and the chicken scallopini but I really wanted to try the pasta so I would go for the spinach ricotta dish. The spinach ravioli was nude! No pasta. My daughter and I were both very surprised at the plate of green balls we got. It was delicious but I still haven't tried Lydia's pasta! Everyone loved their dinners and overall, very nice evening."

"This was a great Saturday evening out to dinner. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, efficient, and customer oriented. I got the pasta trio and could not have been happier. The pre-dinner bread and dip was delicious and flavorful. They bring out 3 pans of pasta, as well as Parmesan cheese for fresh grating, and it was all superb. The one time that our candle went out, 3 seconds later, it was replaced. This was great for a romantic night out. I had some of my girlfriend's chicken cacciatore with pesto spaetsel(pardon the spelling) and that was great too. Come on out and have a nice night."

"Four of us enjoyed the most delicious family style dining on Mother's day. The menu choices gave a wide selection from which to choose and were delicious. The quantity of the food was great - no one went home hungry. Everyone gets to their own dessert so no one shared a dessert. I believe it the best value on the menu. We eat at Lidia's at least 4 times a year on special occassions but Sunday Family Style will get us there more often."

"I read a lot of "disappointed" reviews of this restaurant, so even though I love Lidia's Italy on TV my expectations were not high. For nine people to have brunch it was a perfectly nice (if a bit pricey) option. We enjoyed the antipasti and dessert buffet, but no one in my group had an entree (octopus salad, gnocchi with duck ragout, pasta trio, etc.) that won raves. It worked for us, though--it was comfortable and the service was good."

"A group of 4 of us ate here the evening before the Pittsburgh Marathon. The food was very good. I don't recall exactly what everyone had, but I had the Gnocchi with Duck ragu. Very good. Large portion. The service may have been a tad slow, but it was Saturday night it was pretty busy.

"Have been to Lydia's MANY times. The meals have always been superb. The best part is the ever changing menu items. Each item on the menu is a delicacy which makes it difficult to choose which one you want to try. I always enjoy the Pasta Trio because I get to taste and eat three different items. Now to the desserts.......Oh MY..........the honeydew sorbet was a treat. It tasted like a fresh honeydew ......only BETTER! My favorite restaurant. The best service......the servers explain the menu to you in intricate detail.

"Lidia's was no longer what I remembered. Though the food was good, the service at both the bar and restaurant was hurried, with errors made at both locations. One member of our parrty on the restaurant side chose the trio, and never did get his selection. Wait staff were not the least bit friendly, though not in any way rude. You just didn't feel very welcome. The food was as excellent as I remembered, which made the visit acceptable."

"I trusted Lydia's chefs to serve a meal for my son the day before he ran a marathon just as I would have made for him in my home. My husband and I were early, waited at the bar for the rest of our party, and watched the staff all roll up their sleeves to accommodate the masses that had descended on Pittsburgh because of the marathon and college graduation ceremonies. We were seated near the antipasto/dessert tables filled with a wonderful selection of fresh dressed spring vegetables, platters of meats, soup, olives, and dutch ovens filled with special mussels, white beans and broccoli rabe. Everyone enjoyed the pasta served hot from pans. Even the gluten free member of our party enjoyed a delicious pasta. Very delicious and festive lunch!"

"My husband and I took my parents to Pittsburgh for their birthdays. We found Lidia's online for things to do on Smallman Street. They love Italian food and also love to cook so we thought it would be a great treat to eat at Lidia's. I have watched Lidia on television for years and was so excited to eat at her restaurant. The place was fabulous and we had a great time. My only complaint was the caesar salad. The menu said shaved Grana Padana cheese and my mother and I both ordered the salad. It was delicious, but we both only got one little sliver of the cheese. Lidia always used the Grana Padana on her cooking show and that was why I ordered the salad. It was so tasty, I wish it would have had a few more shavings. We will return."

"We enjoyed Lidia's so much the first time that we went back later in the week while we were in Pittsburgh. They offer a pasta trio that is excellent. The chef prepares three different pastas each night and you get portions of all to try. The best part is you can get additional helpings. My favorite was the ravioli. My dining partner ordered the cabbage rolls and they were also very good. Service was excellent, the wine list was good and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We did not drive but self parking did not look like it was a problem at all. They also had valet parking. I would highly recommend Lidia's."

"I have always enjoyed Lidia's pasta trio selections and Friday night was no exception - three very tasty choices. Hostess and wait staff were great.
We were seated in a booth squeezed in by the wait staff stand so we constantly had wait staff walking by and standing right next to us. They were as quiet and polite as they could be - but we would have enjoyed our meal more at another table. I made a reservation days ahead - so I would think they would save that table for a last minute - no reservation seating."

"We enjoyed our dinner at Lidia's. We were both very pleased with size of the servings. The salad was outstanding and complemented the dinner very nicely. The salmon was extremely good and done just right to maintain the taste. The table was to the right of the main dining area and it was noisy and hard to have a conversation with my wife. There were two busloads of people dining in the main area which made the overall atmosphere more noisy than we liked. I did not ask about parking before we arrived so we were not aware of valet parking being available. Now we know. The day before we visited I received a call from a young lady asking us if we were going to keep our reservations. She talked so fast that we could not understand her"

"Lydia's pasta trio is not to be missed! Fantastic varieties of fresh, house-made pasta, served table-side & refilled to your hearts content. Truly a delicious option, and always a different selection with each visit. My favorite this visit was the gnocchi with peas in cream sauce, but I'm still hoping to have the ravioli with braised tender beef (spare rib?) on the trio menu again. Incredible! We had a great night with our out-of-town guests who left feeling completely impressed at our local gem of a restaurant, nestled in Pittsburgh's Strip District. What a great experience to share with friends who enjoy good wine and delicious food! Go to Lidia's Pittsburgh for a memorable night in the city, and a meal you'll not soon forget!"
