Osteria d'Assisi was opened in 1995, in a renovated home in the historic downtown district of Santa Fe. The restaurant is named after the city of Santa Fe's patron saint, Saint Francis, who was born in the town of Assisi in Italy. Italian h'osteria's are known for their authentic cuisine served in a homelike, warm & friendly atmosphere. The Osteria d'Assisi features regional Italian cuisine, utilizing the time honored Mediterranean approach to preparing food with olive oil and fresh ingredients. Our menu includes fresh seafood, locally grazed beef, veal and lamb, house made pasta, fresh bread baked daily, gourmet pizza and creative desserts.
"We had a great dinner at the Osteria. Pietro was our server and did a great job. His home made antipasti were terrific. My wife is Gluten intolerant, but Pietro brought some gluten free flat bread that tasted great. The Oso bucco was wonderful as was the beet salad and the Buratta with tomatos and greens.
Avemo una bella seratta!"

"The presentation and preparation of each course was exquisite and memorable. The best of many wonderful meals we enjoyed in Santa Fe. Not to be missed!"

"The website promised authentic italian food and house made pasta and we kind of fell for that... The pasta itself was ok, but the sauce and frozen shrimp out of a bag messed up my pasta experience, that I so much looked forward to. Beef Wellington in cold sauce as a specialty, really?? Another mistake, not even a tasty one... The biggest disappointment was the Tiramisu, a so called house specialty - instead it was some kind slice of cake with chocolate sauce on top...maybe the real cook (not the one advertised on the website) should be send to an italian cooking class before he starts preparing those so called "authentic italian dishes"... Never again!!!"

"We chose Osteria d'Assisi for Mother's Day and were delighted. The food was excellent; the service impeccable and the ambience delightful.
We returned for our last dinner in Santa Fe because we wanted it to be memorable. This time the weather was such that we could eat outside which was very nice. I think we preferred the ambience inside, but we loved the breeze outside. Both times the dinner was excellent and the service was just wonderful. They truly make you feel at home.
We had the recommended wine on Mother's Day and it was excellent. On our last night we chose a house wine and it was also very good.
Highly recommended.
The Osteria d'Assisi was our favorite restaurant in Santa Fe."

"A popular restaurant for Italian food with good service and decor, but food that is ordinary and pricey. Examples: wilted endive, old apples, overdressing on the salad; vegetarian torte with a stack of cooked vegetables swimming in a sea of plain tomato sauce. A little more finesse and polish on the food and they would have a winner."

"Very good and moderately priced wine list. Kitchen tries to accommodate individual requests. Chelsea, our server, did a fine job.My wife's appetizer, burrata, prosciutto and melon was excellent and her veal scalloppini good, but she has had better in other restaurants. My caesar salad, said to be a house specialty, had excellent, crisp fresh romaine, but the dressing was bland, without even a whiff of anchovy. The boar tenderloin, prepared to my request without breading or poppy seeds, was overcooked, dry and without much taste. The sauce, said to contain "truffle mushrooms", had no evidence of them and was otherwise undistinguished."

"Made a reservation for a party of 10. We were immediately shown to our own private dining room with a fireplace. Wait staff was extremely professional and helpful. The wine and food were excellent and served in a very timely fashion. I will certainly eat here again when I am in Santa Fe!"

"Outstanding service and delicious Italian Cuisine. The Staff treats you like a member of their Family (a good thing). We enjoyed the Italian Cheese Appetizer, Minestrone, Osso Bucco con Risotto Milanise, and the Linguini (Squid's Ink) Frutti di Mare. Dessert was Tira Misu. A brilliant dinner!"

"The food was good, I'm sure it would have been better if it was served hot and on time. The service was the worst I can remember, however the bus person was doing all she could. Waited extremely long time for drinks from an empty bar, food items delivered late or not at all. Waitress was very impressed with herself as she gave herself a 20% gratuity for our party of seven who received no water refills and took up all of her time with the grand total of 5 drinks she had to serve our table. Too may choices in that town to spend that kind of money and receive no service."

"I had the pecan crusted trout. I thought it was a bit bland for the way it was described. We got the calamari as an appetizer and it was also a bit of a let down, reminded me of something frozen. The wine was the best of all!"

"Excellent dinner during Santa Fe restaurant week! The place was packed! The service was very slow for people that were taking advantage of the special menu while people that ordered from the regular menu were served earlier.
We love the restaurant and were only disappointed by the time it took to get served. Our waiter and staff were gracious and attentive."

"The food was delicious! The restaurant was very busy (Santa Fe Restaurant Week); and when our food was very late, the manager graciously comped our meal.) The ambiance of the place is pretty dreadful -- they desperately need an interior decorator for what could be one of Santa Fe's most beautiful restaurants -- ie, great building in a great location. Go for the food!"
