"You can never go wrong with Dave's chef's tasting menu. It is always a new and exciting experience! Get the Arctic Cynar and necromancer cocktails to go with it!"

"Get the Tasting menu. Chef Dave Santos always changes it up so that you have a unique experience trying things you most likely have not had before. Notable cocktails: Arctic Cynar, Necromancer, Whiskey in a Jar"

"Inventive, innovative, friendly, unpretentious. except for the fake book spines that adorn the wall--bad taste there and hard to figure why such a choice was made. However, i didn't spend much time looking at the walls. We love the monday night menus twists, with the head chef one night and a guest chef from South Carolina another. Bring you own alcohol on Mondays, though they were happy to recommend wines that fit the menu."

"I really enjoyed the experience and would recommend this happy and delicious menu. The noise level was a big negative. The restaurant was not full yet we had to talk in LOUD voices to be able to speak to each other...not to mention the wait staff having to bend down over the table to discuss the menu and take our order. The decor is nice and provides an easy going atmosphere but not an iota of thought was given to sound. Our group of four enjoyed sharing everything and we particularly liked the piri piri shrimp, the broccoli, and the chicken. The pastas were unusual and our favorite."

"We went on a sunday evening at 600 pm before the rush. The decor was rustic. A perfect match for the food. The menu was straightforwrd and well balanced. Some wonderful appetizers. Some delicious small plates. And a selection of well chosen main entrees. Our strategy was to graze and share the apps and small plates. That was fun. The entrees more also a delight. The menu changes seasonally so we wont make any suggestions. Try Louro. Its an adventure thst wont dissappoint."

"Very attentive and thoughtful service helped us meander through a complex and inventive menu. Our server clearly understood the uniqueness of each dish and helped match our palettes and preferences to the offerings on the menu. All four of us experimented with different dishes, large and small. The structure of the menu was excellent, offering choices of little tastes and progressively more ample courses. One cautionary note, if you are not very comfortable with spicy foods, have the server help you understand which are likely to be hotter. The wine menu has some lovely wines. We chose an Austrian one and were quite pleased. All in all, a very pleasant experience , and a unique addition to our neighborhood."

"Louro was great when it opened in December, but it keeps improving. Chef Dave Santos's Monday night special dinners are always fantastic adventures, and a great bargain as well. I love the combination of fine food in an informal, warm setting."

"The food was great and deliciously innovative. The staff seemed a little out to lunch in terms of getting distracted while we were ordering—and then being too distracted to notice us when we were trying to get the check. Neverthless it was a great dinner and we're excited to return."

"Go for the small plates so you can taste more of the interesting flavors! My fiance especially enjoyed the poached pear dessert with brown sugar crumble and pine needles ice cream as a stand-out favorite, despite being too full... I am still remembering the octopus and goose pasta!"

"I tend to wait for the hype of a new restaurant to die down before I risk a dining experience on it, but I was very pleasantly surprised with the evening! Food was awesome, cocktails were great, service was hospitable. (I'm not a fan of the black/white motif with wallpaper bookshelves, but it didn't distract from the food.) We had the specials of the evening: soft emu egg scramble and trout head. Both very interesting and delicious. Other highlights included, the octopus bolognese, crispy pork belly w uni, piri piri shrimp, and marinated carrots. I thought all the food was beautifully executed; inventive without being over the top or pretentious."

"We booked the table in back for a party of 10, it was perfect. Most importantly, the food is amazing --- really a great deal versus anything else you find in Manhattan. Well-curated wine list and great beers on taps. We also enjoyed a few of their house cocktails. Decor is clean and tasteful. The space is not overly loud so you can actually enjoy your company. Staff is friendly and attentive, and not at all over-bearing. All the small dishes are a MUST! I would think that anyone who enjoys food and likes to hear their friends when they speak would have a great time here."

"Great service, nice spot, good menu, GREAT cocktails and dessert. Our only complaint was that the meal(appetizer's through entrees), while cooked perfectly (both fish entrees) was completely under-seasoned...? I'll give it another shot, though."

"We 're always on the hunt for local spot that's not mobbed, with a good vibe, great service, and delicious food. Louro is it! The menu is exciting--the food is fresh, beautifully presented... homey, comforting, and a twist on the usual. Now if we can just continue to get a cozy table on a weeknight... That would be perfection. Can we just keep this little secret for the neighborhood??"

"Servers anxiously waiting by the kitchen door 1 hour into the seating, with no food in sight, was not a good sign. And when it came? Fluke and mackerel were uninspiring. Half an hour later, the second course came, perhaps the highlight of the evening. When finally the third mini-plate came, it was 2.5 hours later and it didn't really matter. Big buzz, small plates, big bomb. You can't fault the restaurant for trying something different. Through failures come successes."

"When's the last time you ate Emu egg? My husband and I had a delightful experience by choosing the tasting menu. Wow! Each dish was a winner - and creative and beautiful dishes. The Octopus bolognese was also a highlight. Yum!"

"I attended one of chef David Santos' supper clubs that were partly a fundraiser for this restaurant, and the restaurant is an extension of that philosophy - extremely high quality ingredients, something a little unusual (emu egg!) and a sense of community that's hard to find in an increasingly gentrified, marketing-driven Manhattan dining scene. Generous portions without sacrificing quality, lots of meat prepared in interesting ways. They have fresh house-made bread which is perfectly executed. My only complaint is that the lemon cake dessert was very similar in shape/texture to the bread and a bit crumbly. The house-made ice cream made up for it though. Great place to take a group of friends or a hot date. Will definitely go back!"

"The food was just OK - best thing was the gnocci - but the service was terrible. All of our appetizers came out quickly, and then we waited over 45 minutes for our main courses (which after all that, are small portion sizes so we were done very quickly after they were finally delivered.) Mgmt was unapologetic, telling us that "yes, well we had to get this party's food out before yours.""

"You wouldn't even know it was Low Country. Went with 6 to the Monday Supper club, had a blast. Food was awesome (desert was incredible) great drinks and vibe. Really chill, but everything was done to perfection. First review I've ever written on Open Table, but this one was worth it."

"Although the overall dining area is awkward the food and energy of the place more than made up for it. The concept of small plates and main courses proved to be appealing. The bread was accompanied with an unusual dip that about as good as any olive oil."

"We went for the tasting menu. This did not come with much food and the food was pretty boring. The first course was one tiny fried fish ball that reminded me of a fish stick. The following courses were good but not very memorable. And the dessert was too sour to comfortably eat. For the price, the tasting menu is not worth it."

"Really enjoyed my meal at louro. Love the new latin influences in chef santos' food. For being such a new restaurant i can only image the type of food that will be soon coming out of the kitchen as they continue to grow. Go to louro now before it becomes impossible to secure a reservation."

"What a find! Louroi is what a perfect neighborhood place should be: easy, fun and the food is really tasty. Open with a lucious duck rillette and the hamachi crudo; ease into a generous, unctious short rib that is one of the best I've had in awhile; cheat a bite or two of duck off of your companion's plate (hurry, before it's gone). The roasted chicken is lovely -- crisp, moist and the jus is so flavorful. Desserts are playful and well-balanced. The specialty cocktails set up a fun evening and the wine list is approachable and offers opportunities to explore interesting options. The staff is informed and interactive, but not intrusive or overly familiar. All and all, a wonderful experience; I cannot wait to go back."

"I've had two fantastic meals at Louro. It has some of the most creative dishes in NYC, without being different solely for weirdness sake. The precision of the cooking technique and the pristine ingredients set this place apart from some other adventurous foodie destinations in the City. The prices of the food, the staff and the wine list are all approachable and friendly. An absolute gem for groups of friends, a dinner for two or solo dining at the bar."

"Louro is my favorite NYC restaurant. I am confident that even if I order a dish with an ingredient that I do not normally like that I will be thrilled with the dish. My husband hates truffle oil and we attended a supper club here where every course contained truffle in some form. My husband finished every plate and enjoyed every bite. Santos is a culinary magician."
