"My partner is a fairly new vegan/vegetarian and we're always on the lookout for great restaurants where we can both get a meal we like. He had the veggies tacos and the cashew pasta - he loved them both. The pasta sauce was creamy, rich and included mushrooms. You can only find this option on the vegan menu (you need to ask for it) - it's so good that even if one wasn't a vegan it would still be a winner. I had the tuna salad, essentially a salad nicoise, which was also really good. I don't know what they do to the egg but it was perfect. The service was impeccable and the decor reminded me of the restaurants in NY - spacious, high ceilings. We enjoyed it very much and will be back."

"I went for lunch with a friend to sample spot prawns. Unfortunately they weren't available on the lunch menu (note to self - check menu beforehand). However our server went the extra mile and checked if the kitchen could substitute one of the items on the menu. Success! Instead of salmon with kale we enjoyed spot prawns with kale.
Nice touch is wine list on iPad. Tantalus Riesling worked perfectly with the meal."

"I would have rated the food five star except the prawns were terrible. We had the four so I tried two just to be sure. They were soft and chalky. We eat prawns frequently both at home and out so I feel I do know what they should taste like."

"Kids did gr8 w/twix n colors provided. My first time seeing the twisty craylo crayons. Hostess inadvertently thought I was with the couple behind us. I wasn't too pleased cos it almost felt as tho she had ignored me n started serving 'em. Dressing for my Cobster's a bit too acidic 4 me, but might just be my own personal taste. Tho, I did have to share all my avocado w/ my girl. Perhaps would've tasted better if I had avocado w/the butter lettuce. Decent piece of lobster I must say. The kid's pasta with alfredo sauce was delish, not too crazy bout the pizza dough. Love all the added fruit appy n dessert. Chocolate warm cake's PERFECT. Complimentary donuts were soso. Try Outpost mini donuts in Steveston and u'll know why."

"Enjoyed brunch. Able to pick starter, main course and dessert . My husband enjoyed the tuna Niçoise salad and I the shrimp Benedict with brown butter hollandaise. So tasty. Dessert was the best. Chocolate for me and apple tart with cheddar ice cream for him. Large portions lots to share. Enjoyed the Sunday 1/2 price bottle of Quails Gate Gewürztraminer with our meal . Will go back for another occasion"

"It was my wifes Birthday, and since we were already staying at the Four Seasons this restaurant fit all of our expectations. Excellent food and service along with a well defined wine list. We will be back very soon to enjoy the excellent choices of seafood.

"All I had was the Manhattan clam chowder which had a total of 4 clams in my serving. The soup was really a tomato soup with some potatoes. I would suggest a rethink of the recipe. The scones in the bread basket were good; light and full of flavour.Unfortunately, I'm hesitant to try anything on the menu again as the soup was just not up to tankard."

"Enjoyed a very good meal with excellent service during a recent business trip to Vancouver. Our waiter recommended an excellent wine to go with our seafood (pasta with crab). The dessert presentation was fabulous and the choice went well with the after-dinner Port we ordered."

"Typical open kitchen, high ceiling bar , restaurant combo found in hotels. Made more comfortable by a divider, fireplace , between bar and restaurant but still noisy.. Dishes unique and excellent, some never seen before. Good service. This was our first visit and we were very pleased with the choice. We will return."

"Had the seafood paella which is my favourite, my mom had the halibut which was good as well. The bread is very tasty, you could have a smoked salmon or herb flavour Did not like the seafood chowder, it was....underwhelming to say the least. Also had the lobster poutine and lobster mash as sides. The lobster poutine was not that great, but the lobster mash was absolutely delicious. We were given chocolate and cookies to take away which was a nice touch."

"Everything was really good foodwise. We went on a day when they had lobster infused everything. Though I'm not the biggest seafood person, I enjoyed every dish in our 4 course pre-planned menu. I even got a recommendation from the bartender for an excellent Pear martini, which i'm pretty sure is the best I've had. The drink was titled 'Pear-fect Day', to which summaries the evening quite well.
They were doing a special Earth Day type thing where they weren't running any electric lights so there were thousands of candles lit. Made for quite a unique and memorable experience. Would definitely visit again while in Vancouver, BC."

"The food at Yew is delicious, especially the tacos which should not to be missed. I find most of the appetizer dishes are excellent, more so than the entrees. I love the extras that come with every dinner at Yew - the bread/biscuits are really yummy and you're given complimentary breakfast cookies made in-house (and they're big!) and high-quality dark chocolates with your bill. These small details make a huge difference to the overall dining experience."

"Yew is simply one of the best restaurants in Vancouver! Seafood lovers will not be disappointed by the menu. Service was attentive and friendly. Wine list is quite comprehensive although I wish they had a sommelier to guide me through my wine choices. Overall it's an unforgettable night and we will for sure come back for our future special occassions!"

"My favourite Vancouver restaurant for lunch, for high-end dining. Their crab tacos (appetizer) and sablefish (main) are fantastic. The Cobster salad with lobster is delicious, but a bit pricy at $38. They also have a vegan menu; the only dish I've tried off it is a mushroom cashew pasta, which was delicious. I wish they would bring back the lobster roll appetizer from their old menu. Recommend making reservations."

"The fish was fresh, and the flavor combos interesting and fun - but the food was ultimately not worth the price point. The apple salad had little taste; the sauces/accompaniment to the raw tuna were tasty and creative, but completely overpowered the tuna itself. The steelhead was fresh, and the artichokes and tomatoes were a perfect accompaniment, but the dish was over-salted. We had a good time, and enjoyed our food - but I expect better for the cost."

"YEW exceeded our expectations on every level. My husband and I were in the city for a special birthday getaway, and our whole experience, including our stay at the Four Seasons, was outstanding. The service in the restaurant was perfect, and the food was better than anything we've ever eaten. We tasted flavors in our dishes that were brand new and exciting. I can't say enough good things about YEW restaurant or the Four Seasons. We've agreed that we would like to return to the city once a year, just to come back."

"All in all an enjoyable experience. Our waitress was attentive, pleasant and helpful. The food was first class and the wine list extensive. The only downside really was the noise from the bar area which verged on the unattractively loud. Vancouver at play I suppose. All of us would definitely return."

"we used the Travelzoo local deal and had a great meal. The lobster and bacon risotto was great, the lobster main dish was good, but not outstanding. I had the brulee duo for dessert and enjoyed it. Our server was fantastic. Very friendly and attentive, but not hovering. Good recommendations on the wine and menu.
as the evening progressed, the music did get louder, making it harder to talk.
I'd go back for a special occasion."

"YEW has THE BEST dinner service in town! The food, the staff, the service, the menus, the decor, the ambiance...everything is done so perfectly! The little "extras" make the difference here, from their freshly baked warm thyme and sea salt biscuits to the handmade chocolates and "power" cookies that come complimentary at the end of the meal. Their prices are very reasonable for the outstanding quality of food. YEW is always my first choice when looking for a dinner spot."

"Went out to a restaurant called Yew, it was absolutely amazing. we started with a bottle of rose from aix and a shrimp and duck starter. the plate had two sauces on it a robust red tomato sauce next to one of the most creamy sauces i have had in a long while. pairing the two made the duck and shrimp pairing so interesting. then we three split the seafood tower. absolutely amazing. on the tower were raw oysters, a crab salad, a salmon pilaf, salmon prepared indian style, caviar, and scallops."

"We had a really good time at Yew, for a joint birthday. When our waiter found out that it was a birthday occasion, he brought many extras on the house - this was totally unexpected and a really nice touch. Service as a whole was absolutely fantastic.
The food was very good although I would say slightly inconsistent: my starter lacked seasoning (I had to add salt, which I never usually do) however the appetizer was too salty. My dessert we totally underwhelming to the point I wished I hadn't order it.
Altogether though it was very good food, fresh, and well prepared. Other people (4 of us in total) in our group definitely enjoyed it too.
Would go back again, in the hope the glitches were a one off."

"Love the Sunday brunch at Yew. The ordinary brunch fare is anything but ordinary. The warm little sugar donuts were perfect as an "amuse bouche". Couldn't get enough of the the lemon pancakes or the French toast with a twist. The chowder was generous in portion and very flavorful. My teenage son couldn't get over the size of the angus beef burger and said it was the best burger he has had in recent memory. The tuna nicoise salad was great - the boiled egg that came with it was done to perfection - don't normally rave about boiled eggs, but this was that good! My husband found the "steak and eggs" a little salty for his taste but thought it good overall. The desserts were a real treat, esp the decadent red velvet cake."

"This is our second time at Yew. The first time was outstanding in all aspects. This time, the food portions were considerably smaller albiet the flavours were wonderful. We had the Travelzoo lobster menu and the lobster dish was half in size as our first dining experience. The main course looked like an appetizer and we were hungry afterwards. For dessert, we ordered the red velvet cake for 2 and it was big enough to feed 4. However, the flavours were boring and ordinary, contrary to our previous experience with the creme brule and chocolate obsession. Our first visit gave us such as good impression that we wanted to return. The second visit was disappointing as we knew the food could have been better."

"We went to Yew restaurant and bar on Sunday. We have been there many times before and kind of knew what to expect. Always great atmosphere, excellent service and delicious food. But this time we were absolutely blown away with the extra mile that Chef Sean ( sorry i forgot the last name :-) went for us. The cooked seafood appetizer for two was absolutely superb!!! IT SHOULD BE ON THE MENU !!!!! I have tried almost all of the entrees now and most of the appetizers and they are all absolutely mouthwatering. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that they added the whole vegan menu to the original menu. I would definitely choose something from that menu next time.
Thank you for the fabulous experience!!!!"
