"We were staying in downtown Tampa because we were attending a show at the Straz Performing Arts center and we live 4 hours away. The Fly Bar is the only bar and nice restaurant we could find within walking distance of our hotel. Downtown Tampa fairly deserted. The bar was packed by 5:30 on Friday night...definitely an after work happy hour spot for locals. It was very, very loud, but fun, with indoor/outdoor seating. The happy hour drink specials were great. The shrimp & grits were very tasty but the fish tacos were soggy and basically not edible."

"I had the curried short ribs. She had pork ribs. Both plates were excellent. The atmosphere was casual and fun without being dumpy at all. The staff very friendly and accommodating. We will be back."

"The food and drink quality far exceed the price tag, and the service was outstanding. We enjoyed happy hour and a three course meal and still made it to the Straz center with time to spare for our show."

"Food severely overpriced for the quantity and quality. When quantities are so small, the food should be awesome. Perhaps it was just a bad night. The lamb was the only great thing, delicious and priced appropriately for what it was served with. Fish tacos super bland, nachos chips STALE and $2 extra for approx 2 Tbls of guac."

"We arrived earlier than our reservation and were seated immediately. Our waiter (a graduate of economics) was friendly, attentive and helpful. My friend ordered a beer and we shared the fish tacos as an appetizer which were crunchy and very tasty. We ordered the hanger steak according to our waiter's suggestion and thoroughly enjoyed the rich flavours. It was a delicious meal. Beer was offered at a discount and a bottle of wine was half price($15)"

"Some of the items we ordered were delicious, others not so much. The service was extremely slow....took over an hour just to get some of our dishes. I understand you can't blame a slow kitchen on the server but she was not very friendly or accommodating. I definitely would not recommend going here prior to attending a show at the Straz Center."

"This was our 3rd visit to this restaurant. As always, we thoroughly enjoyed the food. The menu options are very unique and creative and everything we've tried has been delicious. Our server this time was Craig who was very professional. He anticipated our every need. I only have 2 things that I feel could improve: the tables and chairs are extremely uncomfortable. My legs were cramped up under and against the iron legs of the table. It doesn't matter on which side of the table you sit, your legs will be cramped. The other thing is the noise level. It is very loud. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to a friend (I already have)."

"Very conveniently located near the Straz Center for the Performing Arts, this place was enjoyable without being pretentious. The outdoor table area could've been a little cleaner; it seemed a little dingy. Food was very good for the value. Weird name was off-putting but we're glad we tried it because of the location and convenience after the opera."
