"I think they may need to change their name - we thought this was a Mexican restaurant at first. Come to find out, it's more like a Ruth Chris type of menu. The filet mignon was very tender and cooked perfectly. The lobster tail was very tasty. Our server was responsive to our requests, and knowledgeable about the menu. The view is simply gorgeous. We would highly recommend."

"This is our favorite spot for a special night out. The best service possible with friendly smiles and very knowledgeable attendants. They're never intrusive, but always seem to be there right when you need something. The food is top quality and cooked to perfection. Highly recommended!"

"I met a woman here for our first date. The food was great. The view was beautiful. I love the music that played lightly in the background. The staff were super friendly. "We had a reservation at 7 something for our anniversary but we ended up in La Jolla super early. They were able to seat us right away at an ocean view window. They gave us a card for our anniversary too! Our waiter arrived shortly and was very friendly and recommended a great drink. Overall it was a great experience and we will definately be back. We only regret not trying it sooner."

"I like to go to Azul on special occasions (Mothers' Day etc). This year I made my reservation a month earlier for Mothers' Day and requested a table by the ocean view windows. Because otherwise this restaurant is no different than any other in terms of food. On Friday they called to confirm and I again requested a table by the windows. They said they will do their best but can't guarantee. How long before one must reserve and request a table by the window to get one really??? On Sunday we arrived on time and went up to the greeter, again asked for a window table. She said all their window tables were taken but all seats have ocean view. Then they tried to seat us behind a wall which clearly didn't have a view!! Later the manager fixed it..."

"This is my second time at Azul's for brunch. The reason I decided to return is because I had such a pleasant experience the first time. However, the second time was a bit of a disappointment. The main dining area usually has a spectacular view of La Jolla Cove but on that particular morning there was a huge scaffolding ladder blocking the window which totally obtructed the view. Also, I ordered the traditional eggs benedict and the muffin was very burnt (black, charred) and the sauces were not very tasty. But I will go back some other time and try another dish and hopefully we will be able to enjoy the view a bit more."

"Our dinner at Azul was overall very pleasant. We arrived early in daylight hours and had a couple of drinks in the courtyard until our reservation at 6pm. There was an odd odor that was explained to be from the birds and seals down below. The table location by the window had very good views up and down the coast perfect for sunset. The oysters were fresh, crab cakes delicious and the house steak juicy and flavorful cooked just right. Azul's provided a fudge brownie with a candle for my wife's birthday. Overall, a very nice evening."

"The service was great, the food not so much. One steak was taken off the check by the waitress because it arrived well done versus rare. We very much appreciated their service and voluntary adjustment to the check as we do not tend to complain. The au-gratin gouda potato side had a green tint to it and was not tasty at all. That was the only negative. We will go back after the remodel is done. "Wanted a nice restaurant to celebrate our daughters' 40th birthdays! Chose this off the internet because it looked as if it had a great view of the ocean! This was one of the best finds ever! Because of the fog, could not see the ocean! The dinner and service was beyond our expectations! I actually cleaned my plate - havw not done that in a very long time! "My husband and I recently dined at Azul to celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary. We were seated near the window, with a spectacular view of the ocean and we could also see the sea lions nearby. The service was outstanding and our waiter, Justin, was very knowledgeable about the menu items and very professional. He recommended that I order the wagyu steak (grass fed beef) and it was one of the best steaks I've ever eaten---juicy, tender and flavorful. Not only did we have a wonderful meal but we were given a handwritten anniversary card and complimentary dessert. Those little added extras really made us feel welcome. The staff, service, food, scenic view and overall experience was perfect. Thanks for an unforgettable experience!"

"I had originally requested to have ocean view. The restaurant had called me a few times to confirm reservation and make known to me that there would be some construction that may partially obstruct the window view. When my girlfriend and I arrived, the window was completely clear of obstruction, and our sunset view was amazing. Overall, the experience was really nice. Serene ambience. The food was pretty good and the waiter helpful."

"GREAT RESTAURANT. MADE RESERVATIONS WITH OPENTABLE FOR 6, TRAFFIC WAS LIGHT SO WE ARRIVED EARLY. SEATING US EARLY WAS NO PROBLEM. WE SAT, THE WAITER TIM, WAS EXTREMELY NICE AND FRIENDLY. THE FOOD WAS AWESOME AT A GREAT PRICE. DEFINATLEY A PLACE TO RETURN TO."

"I was expecting more than i got. I figured a steakhouse knew how to cook a med well steak but in return i got a rare one. My wife and i ordered the same thing cooked the same way. One came out awesome the other not so much. On a bright side all the other food was awesome so it just may have been an off night. I would try it again but we hardly ever to to a $60 a plate kind of place."

"I have to say in all honesty I was very disappointed with our dining experience at Azul. It certainly did not meet my expectations as a fine dining place. From our check in to the time to the time we left was a bad experience. However, the wine selection was great,recommendation on the wine was very good. We had to wait for our table no problem but the hostess didn't even ask if we wanted to wait in the bar and she would come and get us. Fact is she didn't say anything. The runner that brought the food flopped the food on the table and take off, without not even telling us what he had brought to us. This happened throughout the night. I did talk to the manager, he apologize and talk to him. I was not happy with my rib eye steak at all."
