"Typical hotel restaurant setting but the food was better than expected but nothing spectacular. I indicated I would recommend to a friend but with the caveat that would only do so if not wanting to leave the hotel."

"We were in NOLA for a couples weekend more for drinks and the music scene. We were staying at the hotel and this was an easy choice to get in and out for a meal before hitting the town. Took too long to get our check at the end if the meal (almost 30 mins after everyone was clearly finished eating) but all was well."

"The service was excellent our waiter was very helpful in assisting us with our meals. We were very surprised to find the restaurant empty. It was a great place and we will be back on our next visit to New Orleans."

"Food was amazing...service was awful. I took my daughter there for her birthday and we both order the same dish. I told the waitress that my daughter will have the same dish after I gave her my order. She was foreign, so I don't know if in her country that means we share , but she brought ONE dinner out w a plate and said "I guess you're sharing?" I never had such poor service, we were so angry we just hurried up and 'shared' the one dinner, only to go out and have another dinner right after. If servers don't understand English too well..it is not a good idea to have them wait tables. The food was delicious and it was ashame because although I am pregnant, I let my daughter eat a majority of the dinner since it was her bday dinner."

"5fifty5 has a nice ambiance for an intimate, romantic dinner! The food is excellent and the waiter can recommend a good wine from their long list! Their presentation is beautiful with ample food for men. We enjoyed this restaurant!"

"It does not clearly indicate it is in a hotel. I was not interested in being in New Orleansand leaving one hotel to eat another hotel's food. Not in New Orleans."

"We enjoyed the food at this restarant as much as anywhere. We were in New Orleans this past weekend and went to 5 fifty 5, G.W. Fins, and Bayona for dinners. 5 fifty 5's food was fantastic. I got the salmon and my husband got the steak and we both got their Derby pie with cinnamon ice cream (this is probably one of the best desserts we have had ever). We just wanted to recommend them because it is a bit hard to find and not very obvious to those walking on the streets in the French quarter. You will not be disappointed here.."

"The lack of people eating in this restaurant is a simple reason ....it is a hotel restaurant in New Orleans. People are staying here to party, enjoy and eat at New Orleans' most famous restaurants. Truth is...the food is really good...not gourmet but really good. A basket of fresh breads made onsite began our meal. Our sever was a very nice lady who checked on us several times. Our crab cakes were some of the best I've ever eaten...light, all crab (no bread here), and a spicy sauce to compliment not overpower. The kids' meals were large portions and good. I had the chicken and caramelized onion quesadillas with big chunks of chicken. My husband had the red beans, rice and sausage. Both big servings and very good. I would definitely return"

"We were in for a conference. The food was pricey and just OK and the service was not what you would expect for a fine dining experience. Every other restaurant in town was booked so we ate there because they were fairly empty with no wait and lots of empty table despite crowds in the adjoining hotel lobby (I kept thinking they knew something we did not). It was quiet, so it worked well for our dinner meeting. Shulas was SLAMMED across the street but we could not get in... It works in a pinch but it would not be my first choice."

"This was a nice place but the lights were too bright. It just seems like daytime at 9 in the evening and seemed odd. We asked and were given a darker corner but as you looked around it was just really bright and wasn't appealing to tay for a drink after dineer. The food and service were excellent."

"It was a rainy night when we decided to make the run to a restaurant close to our hotel. The room was about 1/4 filled at 7 pm. We asked to be seated away from the television screens which surrounded the room. The food was very good, the service very spotty. the young kids who took our order seemed to be learning how to be wait staff. They were kind and attentive, but they couldn't offer much in the way of suggestions. Would we return? There's so much to chose from in New Orleans that unless we were caught in a blizzard, I think we'd try another place next time."

"Having loved the Valentines menu last year I did a reservation for the special ocassion again this year. Food was okay, although I was disappointed over last year both with the Valentines menu, the preparation and presentation. You cannot beat the space and quiet you get at this restaurant, I do appreciate that. Think I will try something new year though."

"Great rear vice, we went for dinner over mardi gras and had a great time. We were able to reserve online and just show up upon arrival. It was a great location being off of canal street--allowing us to walk back to the French quarter and area.
We had the Mac and cheese with lobster- huge portion sizes with giant pieces of lobster. Great! Service was really good, did check ins and made sure we were not needing anything all night."

"Tough to say something good here ... but in a nut shell... the restaurant was fairly empty, there were three other tables occupied. the Waiter was busy wathcing an NBA game most of the time and it was difficult to get his attention. I asked for a Pilsner beer and he told me they only had Coors light. A manager walked by and asked me how things were and I explained that I was hoping to have a Pilsner beer ..and he accomodated me with a list of avialable Pilsners .. ?? The hamburger we ordered for dinner arrived an hour later .. I guess the three other tables clogged the kitchen up, or the game got in the way of the order being placed! The Waiter told us that the kitchen had forgot! Tasteless and dry just like the hamburger!"
